OCR server. Good players, good maps, good fun. The regulars there know what they’re doing and playing them will teach you how to get good at this game.

[I Have] Cock and Balls servers are always fun.
Regarding the recent SMNC promo, it took me about 1-2 hours to get to level 5 and 5-6 hours to get to 20. The game is hella fun, so it should not feel like a chore.
Anyone else stocking up on metal and item duplicates? The impending next update could arrive any day imo, My backpack gets full quickly now, so I might need to purchase the slot expansion item lol.
I got SMNC but I have no idea how to play it at all, so I kinda gave up lol
Anyone know where I can find Hide and Seek servers? I would love to play that.
A little late because I haven’t visited this thread in forever and a half, but shameless plug for the server I frequent 90% of the time:
69.61.8.37:27015
ATF Humpaholics Anonymous. 28 man, alltalk, no trading/crafting (to prevent congestion). Clan Server frequented by some very good players, including the Pyro Don Newman. Only thing is that you might get kicked for clan room, but frequent the server consistently for a month or two and you’ll notice you won’t get kicked anymore. Server tends to die a little early these days, but it’s starting to pick back up.
Oh, loadouts:

Hrm. I have no idea how Engie became my third class; I’m trying to level up my Scout when a Heavy or Medic aren’t needed. Unfortunately, Medics are always needed. I mostly don’t mind it and actually enjoy it, though.
I’ve been playing since December 2007, but is my newest account.
Medic is the best class, all I have to do is to pocket some good Sol/Demo/Pyro/Heavy player, wasd+M1 and be #1 or #2 on the leaderboard.
Add “staying alive” to that. Medic is EZ-mode to pick up but learning to dodge and avoid everything that’s headed your way (everyone hates you) + knowing when to Uber/counteruber is where the skill comes in.
But yeah, you can just leech points pretty easily. It won’t guarantee you top 3 against good players or a win, but you’ll be hard-pressed to fall below half.
Actually, the only limit is hours, not items. You can get from like almost no items to like 10. I believe the system is that there’s a secret timer when it reaches 0, it’ll give you a drop. After that, it resets to a random time.
Feller, I’ve been playing Medic ever since the game became F2P, the hardest part I have is to somehow convince my healing target to focus keeping me alive, not so much to dodge everything and stay out of the way which I know how to do. Worst part is that it’s not immidietly obvious who’s a good player and who’s not, sometimes they look fine 'till they pull out crap like Loch-n-Load or Direct Hit, that’s when I ditch them like “fuck that” and leave them to die, they’re no credit to team anyway.
I’m a pretty good player but I’m a shitty pocket. I guess the pressure of having somebody else that I have to take care of messes with me? I’d rather just make sure that your problem classes stay dead (Hadouken a sniper a few times and he’ll switch classes, I guarantee it) than serve as your shield. I’m better for you like that, trust me.
Sure it is. Watch how frequently they turn around to check you and/or their surroundings instead of just blindly bombing toward the opponent.
But I had way more fun once I gave up med’ing on pubs, tbh…
Oh god my friend and I just played the Mario Kart level last night for like 6 hours or so.
That level is like lawless and hilarious and horribly addictive.
At one point I switched to playing as the other team, picked Engie and built a teleporter for him to get into our spawn point with which, where he promptly began backstabbing and shooting the hell out of people. It was bloody amazing, hahahaha.
Oh, I know that. I’m talking about when you’re up against a good Sniper who can track you even if you’re ducking and jumping at weird angle to throw him off, or a good Soldier/Scout who can weave their way behind your meatshield. And then if your buddy gets headshotted or something… you have to know how to dodge and fire back to your team if you guys aren’t pushing up with many people.
The reason you listed is why I don’t do random pubs and stick to a few servers, and when I do Uber somebody, it’s usually a friend or a server/clan regular whom I know I can trust (unless the situation is urgent and i just need a target). When you find a good server or few and get to know the players, this game gets a lot more fun. That applies to Highlander and the like too, though I don’t really play the more competitive stuff anymore because item rules are silly.
Some item bans are pretty necessary to keep the game from getting boring. Anything that requires an uber to kill just that one thing (read: The Wrangler) is a good candidate for a ban.
There are a lot of other more silly bans though. Gunslinger is banned just because people don’t like having to deal with it. :\
Anybody up for a griefing sessions later on? Somebody plays the spy on one team, and then the other guy plays medic on the other team. Have the medic heal the “enemy” spy, and see how many backstab kills you can get on the medic’s “teammates” before you guys get banned.
