Also still new to TF2. A few questions:

How exactly do you get items? I know some unlock, when you get the milestone achievements, but sometimes I just randomly get em during a match…why/how?

How exactly do I ubercharge? When I fill the bar up, do I just heal somebody with the beam and right click? I never see any visual indicator it’s working (like when every other fucker turns shiny)
Those drops are random. You have a certain number of drops per week and it happens during random time intervals while you play until you reach your cap for the week.
For ubercharge, yes you just right click, then whoever you’re healing is ubercharged and gets shiny and invunerable. You can’t switch away from the healing gun. Also make sure you’re not charging the kritzkreig, that doesn’t make them invunerable it makes all their shots crits (good for heavies or soldiers)
I keep getting goddamn crates and I am pretty sure I have nearly reached my quota for dropped items this week. I wish there was a way to use them in crafting. I have 40 altogether. Such a goddamn waste.
Crates are annoying as FUCK. If the keys were like 50 cents each or something maybe. Not 2.50. Fuck.

Click on the Community tab from Steam. Search my name [SRK] Coolsword123 on the search bar at the top right. Click my name and look for an add to friends list button on the right-hand action bar.

The ones you get at random are just that, random. Just another way to get items. If you have two of the same items or ones, you would then uses those to craft items you don’t have or make scrap metal. I have a premium account so I don’t know which items you can or can’t craft.

Yep exactly right, when Uber is full, right click. Probably not a good idea to uber snipers, spies and scouts unless you re in deep shit and no other class is around.
Well…TF2 gotta make money somehow.
I haven’t received anything as of late…just duplicates of weapons I already have.
I think the servers hate me or something.

I used to play TF2 all the time for the 360 and was an Eng mostly. It will take me a min to get back into it though.

Hype seems to be dying down a bit. Not by a whole lot but servers aren’t always packed 247.
