16 is legal in some states and all of Canada. It’s just that the majority of the television media we consume is created by California where 18 is the age of consent. We watch shows and movies that tell us that 18 is the “right” age and we believe it, ignoring our own state laws. People can get real dogmatic about that number.

I know that mothers are already the majority of child abusers and I think the last time I checked, 40% of all sexul abuse on male children were done by women. However the study I read pointed out that the exact number was hard to determine cause a lot of the male victims rarely perceived themselves as victims or at the very least didn’t consider what happened to them as abuse. I even read that accusations seldom get proper investigation if the abuser in question is female…so I’d hazard to guess mother on child sexual abuse could be a silent epidemic.
I can’t say any of us should be shocked though…for the longest time even up till now people had a hard time believing women could abuse their children unless they were being coerced somehow by the father or husband. The constant need to excuse criminal behaviour in women and justify it is the reason shit like this is now a sub genre of erotic fiction for women.
