Taunting blunders (and phisophical taunting debate)

More than often I have jump taunted to cover some distance on tight spots; usually they just look in awe and when I land, I get my ass kicked.

Although barely dodging a jump-in ultra punishment with doing the taunt at the very instance you see the opponent starting an ultra. Barely gliding over their attack hit-boxes -> dash in and punish gives unlimited gratification.

Well, im playing in the Standard pink Gi, Deuce in the Alt pink Gi.

Does anyone else see Dan’s backwards dash animation as a taunt in itself? I do.

Absolutely. I back-dash when I’m cornered all the time, that and just squat and smash jabs from full screen away or on a whiff that I could have punished.

I have decided that my favorite Dan taunt is by far number 3. It’s pretty redundant in context of his jumping taunt, but… There’s just something so absurd about the way he shakes his fist in mid-air. Then you consider how risky it is to pull off. Even if I lose, I still win for pulling that off multiple times without getting hit.

I’ve also grown fond of the number 7 taunt. I just think it’s funny that he looks away from the opponent altogether. And that stance is so goofy that you know it’s definitely doing its job of annoying the other player.

Butt-Wiggle for me is my favourite. The problem is that Ass-Slap is so much more viable, since it cancels so fast.

I have had a great example for how taunting can get me into a mess.

At 1:36 I taunted after dizzying the Ryu. Should’ve just done a s.fp->f.srk, but he could block and turn the match around :confused:

#9 is my favourite. Because it cancels so fast it means you can get more taunts into a match. The first part of the taunt is the best also, so even if you cancel you still get a good taunt.

Gadouken at full screen is also a taunt in my book :slight_smile:

I like the motion of the ass-slap the best but the “chou yoyusu!” from the ass-wiggle the best, if I could I’d mix them together I would :tup:

What I do is stand right next to them and taunt and when I see the stars or whatever disappear I throw them FTW. If I want to be a bit risky I’ll taunt and cancel into FA3, that way even if they get out of dizzy there’s still a good chance they won’t avoid the FA.

Seriously? It does more damage than fierce punch -> fierce srk? Awesome, need to work that into my game. :tup:

I think taunting when you think you’re gonna win and then losing is…well, basically the essence of Dan. All is right with the world.

Haha, yeah… I seem to get hatemail here and there when that happens. But I now try to taunt whenever possible. Even if I’m WAY down in the match.

On dizzy, I like to do a j.HP>cr.HP xx HK Danku. But I have a hard time jumping in with HP at any other time in the match.

I just do FA3 > c.HP xx HK Dankuu since it’s easier to do and still hits if people manage to mash out of dizzy (most of the time).

j.HK/HP > c.HP is kinda tight due to the slowness of that c.HP, though it does 5 less damage you’re probably better off using s.HP just in case.
