Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for the US

All this coming from a guy who doesnt know enough about the game to know that PTX is a threat, I just dont know what to think of your mindless ranting about your favorite character getting the nerf bat. He needs it. He got new stuff to help him out too.

Fact of the matter is that a character with that speed and that range should not be killing you in one or two hits. You may love abusing it, but its made many people not want to play the game at all. Look at the big picture instead of just what YOU want.

And for the record, ive beaten ever karas I played except for Marn’s. I know he is beatable and how to deal with him, but that doesnt mean he is fine the way he is. Get out of here with your idea of selfish game balance.

The changes will be a step in the right direction. Or, if you really dont like them, continue to play the JAP version while we all move forward.

I apologize if I’m being a bit harsh, but the lack of appreciation that capcom is even DOING another version of this horridly unpopular game should be respected.

I don’t mind the game, I admit, the first time I picked up the controller on my visit to Evo, started smokin niggas, that shit was hella fun, though Alex’s stun gun could be a lot better.

who knows. i never had a problem with dude until now, and i see what everyone is talking about. i never said ptx wasnt a threat. i knew what he could do (well, admitedly i was ignorant to him a bit, but i have seen ptx shit for a minute, and ignored a lot of it for a while and i was like, oh, when llnd was just running through me with him) i have always ignored giants because i hate them as characters. everyone knows that. i been sayin it since day one. did i ever say, ptx sucks and is horrible. nope. i just hate the fucking character.

For real though, I feel like there’s still hope for this game. With a proper stateside release, it’s way more accessible and cheaper. I hope people will pick it up and realize that it’s really fun, then after a while, realize it’s not as shitty as people say it is. So yeah, props to capcom for giving it another chance.

Yes sir! But before I go online, I should build some sort of skill in training mode. Since this game is way different from the mvc series (one P button and 3 attack buttons), it will take some time to get used to. Of course, Arcana heart has the same kind of setup, but not the same system (putting graphics aside cuz gameplay matters more than graphics. Its nice to have all out of this world graphics, but graphics alone don’t make the game).

I wasn’t. I was just going by the changes noted by ll.nd and the others. They never said anything about him being slower, just that 'he is more or less unchanged, can now combo 5C into 3C and his jabs push away more.

still, if he got weaker then that’s a terrible shame.

Also Jimmy, I recall you calling PTX and lightan pieces of shit on multiple occasions and saying they should be taken out of the game etc etc.

Furthermore, Karas did get some new stuff to help him with his nerfs, such as actually being able to use his damned rekkas. Those things were like…never used outside of pressure because of the overhead at the end (which can combo now and ends in a wallbounce)

Karas still has his speed and range. I’m really looking forward to a game where you have to engage the opponent on multiple occasions without killing them in one combo.

Also, I hate chun li but I never ignored her. Ignoring a character because you hate them is never a good way to go.

yeah, your right. i just called ptx a piece of shit today in the tvc forum, and have been calling giants pieces of shit since day one. i hate everything about them. i dont care what tier they are. i dont care whether they are good or not, and my hate has never been, oh, these characters are scrubby and bad. its always, i dont give a fuck what they can do, theyre horrible period. i hate them as characters, and always will. they were the worst idea ever for a fighting game. outside of as boss characters, they should have never been made accessible. why would you ignore chun li though? your gonna find more people who main “normal” characters, then a bunch of ptx and lightan players, and thats real talk. for every one lightan player, there would be 9 chun players. yeah, you SHOULD be paying attention to chun.

because of his range, infinite (that is character specific, and side specific. there are only a handful of characters he can infinite on both sides, but i know he can easily work around that with certain assist and tools he has), his ability to build meter fast as shit, his mega crash corner combo, and well, his overall offensive beast modeness. okay…so what can we do to assist people from not having to deal with that without nerfing him into a bitch character for all the haters who think theyre special because they dont use karas? ha ha

you give characters universal snap backs, and give the snap backs some invincible frames so you can be more creative with how and when you can use them. karas in my grill, he better watch out for the snap back. fuck outta here.

you give the character on the offense less meter build, but not super rape, and give the person getting the uber combo faster meter build so he can megacrash out faster. done already actually.

possibly take out megacrashing a megacrash, because if you get an infinite as soon as the round starts, yes you can megacrash, but i can megacrash your megacrash, and if i catch you again, its probably curtains on a karas slide infinite before you build two bars. but there are other possibilities where megacrashing a megacrash isnt a bad thing, so im back to having to analyze the pros and cons on that more, because really only karas has an easy infinite that he can EASILY do full screen into the corner. but should we build a whole game against karas? ha

toning down baroque is 50/50 so far with me. i did complain my baroque shit was super nerfed, but on one hand its like, cool shit, because you could be a sliver from dying, and if i got a fat chunk of baroque in the japanese version, you can lose 60 percent easy to a baroque combo with some characters and get your come back on. but on one hand its like, okay, i understand thats your sacrifical comeback shit, but really, you gonna kill me on some abc baroque combo bullshit. so i actually believe baroque combo should be toned down a little, but i can have the attitude like its a part of the game, you lose to baroque combo and it rapes you. shit happens. its video games.

im just gonna be on that traditional vs shit, and be like, infinites and craziness are just a part of life in vs games. at least they gave you some options. they just needed to improve them, not nerf shit, and then still give the options. what the fuck i need you to build meter faster while im comboing you, if i cant do the sick crazy combos i used to be able to do anyways.

so, im trippin right now because all of this talk over little ol karas. keits if you so good against karas players, then why dont we just keep him the same, and just better the defensive options, because you gonna beat them anyways. lol. so aint not shame in your game, because except for marn, aint no other karas players beat you, or beating you.

players should stop dick riding “top players” too. waiting for wong, marn, li joe, etc…, to give their praises to the game. be a front runner. so cal are the front runners in tvc right now. they kept wanting to get better, and kept getting better. made me want to play more again after evo weekend. come up with new shiz. i just watched yaris in april, and its nothing compared to who he is now in that game. flush too.

its hard for me to understand how two individuals dont seem to comprehend that its not the character that needs nerfing, its the options given that need to be made better, and or more universally available. but karas’s slide infinite is brain dead jimmy, and so is chuns. well again, what if i gave you a safe option to get out of it, and get them out your face. well, then i guess it doesnt matter much jimmy. no, it fucking doesnt, and rather than work hard to change a bunch of shit, just make other things better. im no programmer obviously, and maybe its harder for them to make universal snap backs, and other things. but im just sayin, im not gonna bend over because at least capcom is even giving a fuck about this little game. i dont give a fuck. capcom doesnt pay me, i pay them.

niggaz is aggy over some infinites, and glitches that are NOT done regularly in game play regardless of how easy some thought they were when they were first brought to the light. like, this is the VS series. this is the life of a vs series player. you deal with the bullshit, and go hard. you think mvc2 got to where it is now because people got soft and was like, this shits to broken. no, it didnt. man the fuck up, and dont settle for unecessasary nerfs when there are better options to keep the fast paced, in your face, super creative combo style of the vs series, while still upgrading from the days of old where you got caught in something,and it was just a wrap for you. ggpo on my cr. lk.

die hard capcom fans already imported it and modded their shit to even fucking play it. if i didnt respect capcom or the game at all, i would have given them the big middle finger when it first dropped, and never contributed shit to the tvc forums at all in the beginning. a lot of us already gave capcom our money here in the states for tvc. i dont need to bend over for shit. make a better game by not making it baby friendly. seems to be their theme for right now. shout out to sf4 and the japanese tvc, but im just sayin, lets keep it 100 though. get off capcoms dick, they aint cuttin you no checks. WE the community make them, they dont make us. hell, the only reason they made sf4 is because of the communities demand.

i know its not the final game, and things could change, but i wanna voice it now. obviously there are people who visit srk and read this shit and report it back. srk is one of the hugest gaming websites out there, and im sure the largest fighting game website out there. yeah, someone will read this and hopefully my thoughts will make them double check what they’re about to release.

respect capcom. ha. i made an entire thread of tvc interviews just to get hype for the fucking game. who else did that? who else took hours out of their time to talk, email, and chat with people just to try to develop some hype for the game. i was like tvc gootecks in the beginning. i support capcom, and for that very reason im giving them what i believe to be better suggestions than just easy nerfs. fuck outta here.

I gotta say, while it was too fucking long, I agree with Jimmy on this one, at least to a point. The game was well balanced enough for me to start off with (and I play roll/cash, so it’s not cuz my chars rape), every char had a seriously legitimate chance. Some of these changes I’m seeing don’t seem entirely productive (read: Saki). I do think that Karas was a definite contender for the “tone down” stick, but we’ll all have to wait until the US version drops before we start saying whether they were right or wrong with these decisions.

Also, there’s no need for the personal hate. Jimmy we know you did shit from day 1 to hype up this game. So did Keits, so did I, Flush is out there hyping it up for SoCal, there’s a lot of people trying to keep this game alive, and we need to chill out and realize that all this repetitive scene drama is only hurting the cause.

Basically, we can’t say whether the changes were good or bad until we get the final version, so do your best to stay hype until winter.

long read short, so far i dont think they have done the best for the game for its u.s release. the u.s players who didnt get it at first, need more than “balance” changes to wanna play the game. the new players, and randoms alike are gonna want to see some good new characters they have always wanted to play. put nero or dante, another karas, and demitri or some random darkstalker in, and its gonna add mad new players just off that strenght. not to familiar with the tatsunoko side other than the basics, and a few characters from the newest casshern anime.

they said they were adding five characters, right? man, they need at least 8. four for each side, and an option for classic megaman instead of rock10yearoldnut. oh my, vergil, nero, and dante alone could all play vastly different, and bring sooooo many new players to the game just because dmc is such a popular series of games. take out giants and replace them with hot sauce bottles. equally as useful. the hate continues. lol!

Just because this is a vs. game, doesn’t mean it has to be like every other vs. game. They have a chance to make it actually fair. And yes, I have a fair bit of contempt for MvC2. I don’t care if it’s appreciated and fun or whatever, It’s a terrible game somehow passing itself off as a good game. A game where infinites are the norm and the like is a game of design flaws. I don’t care if I get flamed for saying that. It’s cool that MvC2 retains it’s popularity even today but it does have problems that make it look very very bad. only 7 of the 50-something playable characters are useful? Gameplay revolves around touch of death combos and magneto pressure? Yeah that would make anyone who didn’t already appreciate the game raise a few eyebrows. It’s the same deal for TvC. People see Karas going into an infinite and they roll their eyes and think to themselves. “Oh it’s just another broken vs. game. This doesn’t look balanced or fun at all. Let’s go.” Tatsunoko vs Capcom is NOT MvC2.1.5. This is a vs game with class and sophistication. This is a vs game that’s trying to shake the stigma that other vs games have given the series that make it look unnatractive to new players.

MvC2 is also a really old game. Fighting game trends have changed in recent years.

So because the game has infinites, that means its bad? Maybe people should man up and deal with it? Like…I don’t know other people have for years and just learn the game. Just because scrubs have weak minds about infinites doesn’t mean that we should suffer because they don’t ever try and learn the game. MVC2 has infinites but the damage scaling is so much so that they don’t have the staying power they had in XVSF. If you see people doing infinites in MVC2–they usually are going for resets to be effective.

I’m really tired of this unreasonable concern for new players. I understand we have to cater somewhat to them but I think it ends up making games a bit stupid when we have to worry about people who don’t know how to learn games properly.

Tell them to go play Smash, or Halo, or whatever popular game is the rage. Veteran players have had to suffer with new releases of games because the new generation can’t learn how to do a dragon punch? The fuck outta here.

That’s not the point. From a game design standpoint, infinites are mistakes and imperfections in the game’s design and shouldn’t be there in the first place. I understand that they aren’t as game breaking as some people might be lead to believe but they’re still an eyesore and an imperfection.

New players are important. Without them, it’s just the same people playing again and again. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Then again, even if it’s not catering to new players, this isn’t the old days anymore. The developers can afford to try to make a finely tuned machine that isn’t full of ugly infinites and such.

I also love how magical voice show nevery actually says anything constructive yet posts in a snide manner in order to look like a ‘cool SRK kid’

I’ll say it again. Marvel vs Capcom 2 is just a mess. The only reason it’s so highly regarded is because it’s player base is incredibly stubbourn and tolerant…kind of like Smash players actually.

What I hear in this thread is more like… “games are bad if they don’t have infinites”. What’s so great about infinites? I don’t hate them, but I don’t exactly love them either. It’s not like infinites is the pinnacle of depth in a fighting game, it’s just a long combo that takes a lot of time. What’s so great about that? :confused:

Feels like some people want this game to be the “messiah” of the MVC2 style, but they don’t need that… MVC2 is being re-released. Let TVC be what it is, and “man up” to whatever the result is, infinites or not. imo.

Besides, the “vs series” isn’t limited to MVC2. When someone says “vs seriers” I think of CVS first. If you can even consider it a series.
