Tallahassee Thread: tribute to 2 of the greatest players leaving the scene

Yukiko uses Dia at 1:10, I think. Looks like a reversal that heals a little, or she loses life then heals it back faster than others? Not sure. It does almost zero damage, though. Game looks tight, also. Chie has Jam’s 2D and one of her dragon kicks!

Yeah it was interesting to see Dia. Looks like a reversal that gets you away, the P4 Dia animation comes out and her health is healed. Maybe you can’t really get anything off of it and it’s literally a gtfo.

Chie can stack her install super three times, it buffs her damage.

Going out to eat with couple work peeps so I’ll be a little but I think Ron Is up?!

Just woke uppppp. Youse guys can start rolling through around 7:30

I’ll be coming through. I guess this gives me an opportunity to have some dinner first.

I can get over there pretty much right when the festivities start between 7:30 and 8.

GGs last night to Nick, Chris, Turk, and Drew. Some seriously hot shit from Turk and Chris… Glad we’re taking this game to the next level. Finally…

GGs to. . . no one! I didn’t even use my arcade stick lol. Too much of that good Starcraft + no Marvel 2 :frowning: I’ve been thinking about just playing whatever is on just for fun; work on a MODOK team + try out Kano again (don’t have a copy of the game but there’s only a couple specials and canned strings I really need to remember).

Shoutouts to Matt for optimizing my laptop for games/SC2! I get out of school at 5 on Thursday but I’m gonna head back to the homestead and grab a bite/my keyboard and maybe I can try and get a bus over there to meet you at the SLC for some Protoss ladder p.mode

Honestly I think the amount of MK players outnumber the amount of AE players (Myself Chris James and Jay) Ron doesn’t count because even being really tight at the game, he doesn’t like it and therefore doesn’t take it seriously. (GGs last night though)

also GGs to everyone in MK, Game is actually hella tight, I wish i didn’t have to go into work this morning, I really just wanted to crack out on it last night for like 5 hours, coming up with shit.

To say that I don’t like it is a pretty gross misunderstanding! It is in fact my 4th favorite game of all fighters (GG, MB, Marvel 3). I’ve probably played more than anyone in this town except Chris and Crespo.

You perplex me…

There was an entire version of the game where 5-8 hour sessions were commonplace 3-4 nights a week. Not my fault you weren’t part of that!

Yes it was.

Chris - i didn’t realize it until you pointed it out, but I’m terrible at blocking! How can someone be bad at blocking? You just hold backwards!

I try to react to every move and get an immediate reversal - I’m too hungry for big damage all the time. So I get hit. It’s so tempting to try to counter with 0-frame grabs, though… I need work.

Also, we’re on page 20… I sense an MK-themed thread title coming soon…

And I was happy to be a part of that wooo!

Yeah man, Ron used to crack out on SF4, and Super, as he put, was one of the most balanced fighters. I can actually see how MvC3 is up there: not gonna lie - its damned fun but argh all of that silly shit is hard to get used to if its not in small doses.

Learning to just hold on back is one of the hardest things to do for many people. Just last week Drew was complaining about some Sakura setup James had because he couldn’t do anything to get away from it…sometimes you just have to block. The one aspect where Street Fighter 4 absolutely fails as a beginner game is that it teaches you not blocking is okay.

Though to be fair, that’s probably why SFIV latched on so well…hitting buttons and winning is way more fun than holding on down back or hitting buttons and getting thrashed for it.

I wasn’t complaining about the setup perse it was completely legit, i like blocking and i understand that blocking is extremely good, i don’t reversal nearly as much as I used to. What i was complaining about was how to deal with the pressure, what should I have been looking for to counter poke. Yes sometimes all you need to do is block, i accept and utilize that, but eventually you got to fight back and everything i was trying wasn’t working.

Steve: its a legit punish, but anyone who is competent at doing block strings (both gatling and frame specific) will blow that up. Gotta block until you know what you’re trying to jump on.

Drew: DP? C.lp at the right spacing? That should shut the approach down to something manageable. Once she’s in, though, you gotta block until she’s about a character length away.

Liu Kang on Thursday. This MF is retarded.

c.lp was getting blown up sir

Hmmm. I’d have to see where its being done, but that’s not surprising considering c.mp crushes it.

New (maybe? Doubt it) Jax tech that I was playing with this morning. Poking/throwing a few frames after a dash cancel Ground Pound (seismo) makes for interesting mix ups! Trying to get an immediate throw/poke after a ground pound fake so that I move as little as possible. I’m hoping that the poke catches your standing frame as you’re trying to jump.

You know what we need? A good team fighting game. MvC3 with 3-players vs 3-players.

Capcom, make this happen.
