Okay i lied about stopping the anime watching im watching Tenjou Tenge and Full Metal Alchemist (Japanese version) and its the TIGHTEST!
so who is going to final round? I am thinking about it just for tekken, but I think paying 30 bucks for a badge and 10 bucks for the game is a bit steep.

Recently I was thinking that bioware in my opinion has overtaken square as the number one producer of rpg titles out there. I mean all of there games have great story solid action and great character development. All good things to have in an rpg. Not to mention that square has more or less had the quality and enjoyment of there titles go down since they aquired enix. I mean I dont know if any of you younger guys know but enix really fucking sucked ass before they joined square a lot of there titles were dime store rpg’s filled with cliches and boring battle mechanics.
I thought at the time when enix first merged with square that square would rubb off on them but seems to be the other way around. The last great square game was ffx and that was just before the two companies merged. they came out the gate with imo an unpolished game and the first in a trend of titles aimed to cash in on squares previous success in x-2 something they never did before, because they were usually pioneering the next evolution in the genre. Since then its been crap after crap after crap. With the only slightly bright spot being ff12 but even that title wasnt truly the type of classic awe inspiring game square has put out in the pass. Im saying this cause I was excited about the new final fantasy but the more I see of it the less excited I become. It sort of feels like ff9 to me. A solid title but you expect more from them… Especially after the horrible ff7 cash in titles and the wii crop of crap titles and the fact they havent released anything worthwhile in years.
On the other hand bioware has quality titles all over the place and they seems to be redefining the genre on the next gen consoles. There merging the roles of an action title and rpg so perfectly that its just impressive. Look at mass effect , star wars, dragon age and few other titles they have out there and I feel that there the best of the best right now.
Sorry for the long post but I bring all this up because i looked at square when I sought to buy that classic rpg that I could go back and play again and again for years Like I have with ff3 or 7 like I know some of you have too. But do you think that there will ever be another classic rpg that you would play 10 or 20 years from now? For that matter while were on the subject do you think there will ever be another great fighter like sf2 that can have the same longevity?

I know Jordan Otoko Michi and I were chatting about going to Final Round cause it sounds like a blast. But if we’re gonna spend the time and money to go up there we really want to stand a chance haha. My semester is much more organized this time around and I’ll actually be able to not flake out and really game with the talented posters of this thread. I am sorry if I come across like a flake online but last semester was rough for me, now I just want to kick ass and game.
I’m open Mondays 1:30-9pm, Tuesdays all day after 2, Wednesdays after 6 and Fridays all day after 1:30, plus the weekend. I know I’m looking to bring my best Third Strike, SF4 and BlazBlue to Final Round but I’m also trying to learn some Tekken and Guilty. Unless I can convince Jordan to give me a ride my only options are biking and the bus so if you’re around FSU/Ocala Rd/that part of town lemme know.

Played Jordan’s copy of Tatsu: CGOH. Only played it on a classic controller but I already love it. UAS is gonna be so great. Can’t wait to play it on a stick!
Man you can’t blame Enix for the lack of direction of SquareEnix. Enix also had its own amazing games like Dragon Quest, Valkyrie Profile (the BEST game), Terranigma (the best SNES RPG), and Star Ocean.
well to be honest dragonquest is a successful franchise but Im not really a fan because of the whole enemies level up with you gimmick, its makes leveling pointless and the only thing that makes you stronger is the gear but then there are a huge of amount of random encounters where you get no gear. But all that is another argument. Valkyrie profile is a squareenix game that I always forget about thought it is the best thing they put out in like five years. Excellent game great from top to bottom but man are scouts gamebreakngly good. Star ocean is another successful franchise that has the same annoying gimmick as dragonquest. Interesting though that you rank terranigma over chrono trigger or ff3 arguably the best final fantasy game ever.
question though if u dont think it was enix that deteriorated the quality of there games, then do you think that they will ever become the benchmark franchise of the genre again and release something that redefine rpg’s in the future. Liike a ff7 or a fallout 3.

You’re confusing Valkyrie Profile with Valkyria Chronicles, Jay. No scouts in Valkyrie Profile.
Fallout 3 in no way redefines anything. It’s just Elder Scrolls 4 repackaged, which was Elder Scrolls 3 repackaged, which was Elder Scrolls 2 in 3d…etc. All great games, but you can’t credit them for anything because they all go way back.
I think it’s all relevant to what you grew up with. “Your time,” is always going to be the best time. It seems like human nature for us to associate the earliest experiences as the best experience of whatever, including video games. I’ve played so many RPGs that even if it’s one like Lost Odyssey which I really do think is amazing and really enjoy…I find it hard to appreciate it near as much as the first great RPGs I played.
So to answer your question, no. Even though games still get released to rave reviews and are heralded as the greatest game ever…in our old people minds, nothing is going to be as good as the stuff from the past.
I can almost guarantee you SSFIV will be nowhere near Final Round. But I’ve already told Logan that if it is, I’m there. Even though it would be stupid because I’d barely get to play or see anything.

Almost done paying off the repair bill on my car so im about 90% sure ill be driving to FR.
Also if i get my ITR in feb (which i should) than anyone who rides with me wont have to pay gas. I know a few people are having trouble with tuition or other financial problems. I know you said Terrance that you had a few things to take care of and id like to see you at FR. So again if your on hard times you can ride with me and you wont need to shell out gas money etc.

nvm. its tight. I dont know how hard it would be for gen to have to stance switch to parry or how that would limit his options , but i know like balrogs and of course akumas ‘parry demon’ have some good uses as well
thats a very useful tool not game breaking but very useful. Since it gives him immediate options after focusing an attack where everyone else can only dash. Its better than the giefs, rog, and abel focus glitch since there only cancels into a specific move namely ultra where his cancels into his entire moveless and he has full movement as well. I hope he still has it in ssf4 since he will no longer have oga as a wake up option. That will make knocking him down not so free if he keeps that and loses ogas invincible frames.

Balrog can definitely cancel in to EX headbutt and rush punches as well as ultra! Doesn’t really make it more useful, but just saying!
You know, I’ve watched many, many match videos of Continuum Shift, and I think I’m going to really enjoy that game. Not since the prime age of Guilty Gear have I watched so many matches for a game, especially one I’m not even going to be able to play for many months.

First time ive seen Juris CC ultra used correctly. Not Bad.
Quarter life off 3/4 of 1 bar ultra stock (assuming the timer is based off how much ultra stock you have) Pretty good.

**PS3 TE Mod 1: MC Cthulhu **
Alright so im getting my MC cthulhu today and i figured i might go ahead and prep the stick to be modded before i head out to work. All i can say is its a slight pain (only because you have to remove the red glue the put on EVERYTHING, but that only takes 10 min the glue isnt gummy and comes off with one scrape from a philips) taking it a part but the way its engineered is a modders dream.
Breaks down into 3 parts and the middle part gives you a nice view of everything you have access to each individual PCB and each pcb has seperate places to solder with BIG contacts. Not to mention unlike the Hraps the TEs top part lets you rest the stick, buttons, and art work safetly off to the side w/o having to be propped up so you dont damage the underside terminals. If all goes well this mod should only take about 2 hours. and the first hour will just be preparing and tinning the wiring. This should be cake. Give you some updates when i start this afternoon.
All that being said this is the PS3 version TE. Im sure the 360 version will require a little bit more work because of the imp board (the board that allows you to switch from 360-PS3 and use your Home button as the xbox’ Guide button) but im sure it wouldnt be too bad looking at how the TEs are designed in the first place.
