We have sessions all the time. At least a couple times a week. It would be better if you lived in tallahassee but yea rons right. Might want to wait for a bigger gathering or SSFIV(im sure well have plenty in feb closer to final Round) so you dont waste gas money.

Team is still looking like morrigan/doronjo. The tightest stage is the bridge stage where you can randomly fall down to a lower level.

In alpha (3), ryu had a really crappy version of shin shoryuken that almost did normal super damage if you hit someone with just the right spacing and did super crappy damage if hit from any other distance. It did look tight though and if you finished someone off with it then he did the akuma pose where he turns around and doesn’t say anything.

Yea it sucked balls. I dont think this one is any different. looks like it might have incredibly long startup, but i dont really want to speculate on it. Just because the starting animation is long doesnt mean anything if its ‘freeze-frame’ too bad they didnt show the timer :\

Timer shows about 1second in game time, but still something i cant go off of. Liking the new earth shaking animation of the 2nd hit, also half life ? LOL Cody got some wierd pipe ultra action though. Fireball invincibility. Cant wait till they show some akuma. Metsu Gou-Hadouken or Gouken style counter Misogi plz :wgrin: :lol: .

**Bro i just got done watching Trinity Blood. Its a good anime. The ending… no spoilers is hella open ended and thats all ill say. worth a watch though.

Next finishing up Big-O than a break from anime till after FR. Gots no time to waste! way too many tight games coming out too.

So far it looks like Sim, Honda, Guy, Fuerte, Balrog, possibly Bison have a grab ultra. Fei and Cammy have a counter, Juri has custom combo (which makes that comic even tighter, James), rumor is Rose has Tengu stones (in the form of soul orbs)…Gief has the air grab…so…at least they’re trying to do something different.

Anyway well I watched the stream with a load of the new ultras in it and i have mixed feelings. First j.wong is a dick for not letting the guile finish the sonic hurricane in a new content promotional exhibition I mean wtf…
Also cammys and fei’s ultras look badass but neither one of them really has a use for a counter let alone a counter ultra. Waste of programing, especially when you factor in that its been confirmed that both counter ultras lose to focus attacks and have extremely small windows. Both characters are better served using a dp for counter purposes, especially cammy who’s first ultra is good.
Um the general theme for a lot of the second ultra’s seem to be that capcom was teaching a class on how to program useless shit. I mean a few people have got a good second ultra but the majority of people second ultra is laughable when you compare it to there first ultra option.

I will list a few of the stand out crap 2nd ultras.

  1. rufus ultra is just wrong. I mean his 1st ultra combo’s off of everything, does good damage, solid chip, and is not as punishable as most other ultras. While his second almost combo’s off of nothing, does terrible damage, knocks people to the other side of the screen(when he wants to be in your face), and is extremely punishable. Not to mention its ugly as hell.

  2. balrog 1st ultra is easily combo’d into, has multiple set ups, can be cancel into off a focus dash, goes through fireballs,and does decent damage.While his second is a 720 motion grab that does crap damage, does not grab on the first frame so it could be jumped out of on reaction, has crap range, well … Idk but so far when I look at it Im reminded of the squishy texture of squirrel poo.

  3. gouken secound, denjin fireball is blockable and only stun’s when fully charged good luck hitting someone with that when it takes 3 in game seconds after the ultra freeze to fully charge it. denjin fireball damage has never been good.

  4. tiger cannon now by itsself its not a bad ultra its sagat’s version of ryu’s ultra. The only problem with that is sagat didnt need to emulate ryu’s ultra his was superior to ryus in everyway, and his first ultra is superior still to his tiger cannon in everyway. So even though by itself its not bad it doesnt do anything that his first ultra doesnt already do, so its useless by design since in a combo it does slighly more than his ex tiger shot in 4.

  5. vipers first ultra combo’s off of damn near everything she has if your execution is good enough and it did good damage. So what alternative option do they give her when she already had damage and utility. And ultra that doesnt have nearly as much utility or damage but its slightly safer on block although you still get fucked up.

Alot of peoples ultra are useless like this but a few exceptions are guiles sonic hurricane, because anything was better than the crap he had, ryus insane range shin metsu dp. fuertes grap ultra now he is a real throw character, bison psycho grab cause its pimp and has a ton of range and invincibility, and vega’s improved version of the red scralet terror finally something I can combo into that does great damage.

You’re assuming that the current ultras don’t get changed. Damage and jugglability may go up or down, we don’t know. I can see Viper’s being amazing against fireball characters, depending on how far she flies/how long it takes. So far I think Chun looks to have the most realistic chance of not favoring one ultra over the other. She has an ultra that isn’t amazing for combos, but can shut down a lot of characters moves, and now she has an ultra that she can just combo in to for free (25% meter…).

I will always stick with Akuma, but i think im gonna have some COMPLETELY new alts in this game.

atm Ryu, Guile, Guy, Cody, Sagat (love some tiger cannon i wonder if theyll just return him to his Cvs2 roots) sounding pimp atm.

Im not assuming anything Im looking at what presented now. I know things can change and very well may by the time the game comes out. However Im giving my assement of what the moves are at this point in time. Im hoping for the love of everything good in gaming that a lot of changes are made to a lot of different areas.

side note I do like a lot of the stages way more than the regular sf4 stages, I just wish ono would let go of his hard on for that damn lava stage since it looks like its coming back unchanged sigh.

P.S. lava stage needs to be changed to slip in slide with hos floating around in tube rafts.

balance changes like damage to life ratios which they seem to be working on.
speeding the general gameplay up like how super turbo did over regular super sf2.
A general offense’s mechanic to push to make d/b less powerful like universal overheads. Fuzzy guards can be a good thing.
less scaling to allow more combo possibilities. As it is now its now worth the effort to experiment pass 2 to 3 hits then finisher because of scaling.
I would like a guard gauge but they already said thats not happening.
more varying gameplay styles declone the shoto style fighters originality is a good thing. Like how sak plays different than ryu in a big way.
more hit stun on counter hits to allow for unique counter hit only combos.

I just really want the game to be really offensive like a lot of other games out now but in that sf flavor. sf4 rewarded defense way too much I would like to see that reversed.

Also links and gatlings I dont mind either but I hate went characters have both for the same strings with little to no variation in the timing. Its just a pet peeves of mine. but if specials only come out off of links make a string either or but not both.

I think some of those things might be changed. Some good ideas i see, but i doubt most of them get changed. /shrug only time will tell
