I just found out about it today while I was working on a new character, queer.
you need to work on a new character. Heck i’m working on one myself. Not much work though to be done. Mainly just picking and then winning. That’s my favorite method anyway
Picking and then hahaha. Love it.
I can’t go this weekend. If you guys decide to go on the 22nd, let me know and I will drive. I want to visit family more but I am willing to fit in games as well.
Also, the more I play this game offline and get a feel for the movement/timing o things, the more online suckssssssssss. I dont know if I can play online any more man. I tried ranked matches, lobbies, even with matt or Ron here in town it’s still ridiculously bad :(. Makes me real sad cuz it’s such a great way to get Matches in, but I can’t take the delay man!
Yea man sentinal i can play, captain america sorta, but any lag and chun is fuckin unplayable. I notice how your Mags was doing in it too and you usually never drop those combos. Ranked is ass and player matches can be tolerable but there baddies. (matter of fact ranked is baddies to 40-4 14 game win streak i need good comp plzzzzzzzzzz)
I know your busy with everything and that you usually get all the comp you need on tuesdays, but if your available any afternoon from 5pm - 1am let me know so we can get a session in. I havent played you offline since FR. Would like to play you again.
I don’t know why but I am really hyped to try my new team Tuesday. This time, it shouldn’t flop like last week.
I thought it was just me + my interwebs.
Yeah its pretty terrible. I had to forgo doing Akuma OTG relaunch combos or Mag fly/ROM loop combos. Storm was reduced to X-factor hail storm spam and I did nothing but spam L Disruputor and Shockwave. And I think I won 10 matches in a row with that.
People would let me walk right up to them and land a solo S like it was the hottest gimmick since walk up DP -> FADC. I don’t see how Crespo plays online so much
And just posting from school. I kind of like not having a computer at home, so I’m gonna let that ride for awhile.
You just gotta have different goals. You don’t need to land combos to get something important out of gameplay, online or not. Yes, execution is one of the most important aspects of this (or any) game, but if your environment doesn’t allow for optimal execution then why bother? You can work on setups, mixups (though some are practically unblockable online), learning what beats what, how to defend, how to battle assists (and how to use your own), etc. With such a small number of people here that play we don’t get to experience a large portion of the cast (played effectively), and anything helps in that regard. I have a couple of people on my friends list that I don’t mind playing even with the subpar connection, because the experience is just helpful overall and it’s better than not having them at all.
If you go online looking to do combos, you’re doing it wrong. Though to be fair, if Logan did real Magneto combos he wouldn’t have as big of a problem. The good stuff is actually waaaaay easier online than the baby combos because they’re based a lot more on muscle memory than visual timing.
A good bit of stuff that I want to work out involves most of those combos (various resets, air-to-air options, combos for position to land the setups I’d like to try, etc). I get what you’re saying, though.
Speaking of, might be time to go back to online play for SSF4. Since only the good people play, I can hopefully get the experience I require to improve my game.
The thing is Ron, its not just combos. I don’t care if I can’t land certain combos online, i’ll just do whatever I can do. Like with sentinel i’m obviously not gonna miss a basic easy mode combo. Its triangle jumping, airdashing, wavedashing on reaction to certain animations, things like that where my timing being off by a second makes the difference in me getting hit or me hitting the other guy. It frustrates me to no end, to the point that I just don’t even wanna mess with it.
I know I could still learn from certain situations that you mentioned etc., but its hard to do that when I can’t get past the fact that I just got hit by some crap I know I would not have been hit by if I were offline. Or I just pressed a button that I know would have hit that guy but instead it didn’t come out yet and I got hit by something ridiculous I would never normally get hit by.
EDIT:
Don’t get me wrong though. I will still play online. I’m over reacting a little bit here. I just am not very happy with it compared to the way some other games feel online to me. I will still play whenever I can and am down whenever people want matches, I just gotta realize I gotta play a little differently in order to be able to still learn things and not get mad at the lag.
edit # 2:
side note and mini-grats to myself for any of you who I may have mentioned that I interviewed for a new position (within the same bank I already work for). I found out today I got it! So I get to have my own tight little office and desk and what not and pretend like I’m the man even though I’m not making ALLLLL that much more than I did before. but its a tighter job and an upgrade!
I dont know ron last time me and logan played you online it seemed like you were trying to go for the same execution intensive combos online and dropping them a good amount of them just like us(logan/mag, me/Chun).
I think its easier to a certain extent like if the lag is nominal or just plain consistant, but alot of folks on ladder have inconsistant connections and lag spikes, just makes it almost unplayable.
I can go for setups but with my chun ioh/j.2B~LL setups/mixups i have to time captain americas delayed shield slash assist to land meaty and then hit you with an ioh/low setup the moment the shield comes back and that has to happen immediately after i see which way youve rolled. considerably harder online, and thats just one example. sometimes the lag is so bad online i have to dumb it setups to basic frame traps and hope people arent mashing cr. a when i get the timing off by a frame or 2. Maybe its easier to do jumping C’s or some stuff with zero or that fly shit with mag but i feel like its a little harder with chun in lag. /shrug maybe its just me.
Ive played both you and logan and shown that i can adapt well online but i kinda agree with logan its almost feels like its just not worth the trouble.
With all that being said ill still be playing online. just not seriously. or if i do it will be to try things out or learn new characters with some kindve in match experience.
EDIT:
this agreed 10x fold. more about the setups you get hit by that you know you couldve reacted to easily offline. getting passed zone with chun. etc.
**EDIT 2:
logan
**gj bro!
duuude the tight office is the best those are some of the nicest most chill people in the bank. Which bank do you work for?
Capital City Bank. My new position is going to be at the Apalachee Parkway East office the one right next to Games4Less. I’ve been at the intersection of N. Monroe and Tennessee for 5 years.
I’m pretty sure the last time I played you Matt I had not really incorporated the fierce loops or the hypergrav loop in to my gameplay, both of which are staple combos now (though I still drop the fierce loop more than I should…). Both are way more reliable online than the M,H dash loop. I’m not saying it doesn’t screw me up, because it certainly does ALL the time…I’m just saying it’s not that big of a deal and there’s still plenty of stuff that can be done. Granted, it does bother me a great deal more when online play screws me up playing against people in town rather than playing some random person.
whhhhaaaaatt thats a long ass drive man! lol. Congrats though man youve earned it! I may just come down there and visit you one of these days. better have some tight hos up in there too! hahaha. gj man!
Ah i see understandable. Also i agree with what you said in the end. i have to give myself a “de-funk” of at least 20 min in pmode after fucking around online. other wise im off for the first couple of rounds when i play someone in next offline session.
Farther commute but at least you’re not at the intersection of the two busiest roads in the whole city lol. Grats Logan. We’re only ~a mile apart so next time I’m sure my roommates aren’t streaming or torrenting I’ll let you know and we can try out an online connection. Maybe it’ll be better!
Rarely play online except just to play with friends from Jacksonville. I’ve gotten some good connections ever since I reflashed my router with ddrt firmware. If no one is torrenting or streaming Netflix to their Wii I get some great matches in. Granted the majority of people I play in ranked are scrubs (cause I have like ~10 overall games), plus with my gimmicky-ass team I go for the overall barrier/call missiles/psy blaster/cube repeat gameplan rather than do really technical combos.
Gotta skip out on games Tuesday, I have a big Corporate Finance exam on Wednesday that I really have to do well on. Thursday night at SLC/somewhere? I will bring a setup. Need more vs. Magneto experience against the Chairsmen lol and Tallaneto is the place to get it hahaha.
Sweet shit Vermont is cold!
Sweeet in cold… mmmmm perfect combination to bring up shit! And im eating right now too! Frick yes! Time to throw up in my mouth now!
lol… be safe up there man. Ive been to like 48 states and i remember the last time i was in vermont(we actually drove all the way up to Maine) this was ungodly cold. uuuuuggghh…
Awesome work man! Your right next to George for his mega deposits.
