Tallahassee Thread: 3 times the Marvel, 3 times the Capcom, 3 times the butt kickings

Oh yeah, I know, nobody can beat me in this town.

Good games to all today.

I really gotta stop trying to take this game seriously. It ruins the experience for me.

Just pre-regd for Final Round!

I will be playing MBAA, SSFIV, MvC3. I need anyone and everyone thats serious about these games to hit me up. Starting now. Im off all sundays and i will be available EVERY afternoon after 5pm-2am M-Sa for FR prep. Hit me up! PM/Facebook.

Man, the MagLab was sweet as fuck. I need to figure out how to get an internship there. (Adonis, I know you gotta’ have some hookups!)

The exact opposite happened for me. I’m getting tired of getting blown up, so I’m on double time with this bullshit. I get it: I’m the new guy but God damn. From tomorrow onward is nothing but practice. Spring break? From sun up to sun down of nothing but practice.

I think I tied for 9th with Drew? Our new man Quincy did pretty well. Was making nigs look ashy as fuck with those Wolvie combos.

Pre-regged for Final Round and the room will be booked tomorrow. Gameplan stands as is for now: Drew, Mike G, Kelso, Matt, and myself. Interestingly enough, we’ve got some people from Jax and Orlando wanting to join the caravan, so I think Im gonna slide with them and let Crespo take my spot if he wants it.

Don’t count me in until I get some figures; got hit with some unexpected (sort of) costs lately, so might not have the funds for FR.

Good games to everyone at the tourney today. Props to mike c and Crespo, I need to play with you guys more.

Drew, can you post the final standings? I wanna know where I ended up.

GG’s to everyone. I think I really learned a lot from playing today. I think before today I’d only played MvC3 with a real person offline for 2 hours.

I’ve got a small order I need to put in at Lizard Lick. Anyone need any parts? I’m ordering tomorrow afternoon.

LL PCB Feet, Set of 4 with Screws

Toss an order of those on there for me.

Good games to all in the tourney today. Stuff I learned while playing/watching:

Berserker Slash xx Berserker Charge combos into…everything.
She-Hulk is godlike.
Mags? Still godlike.

I need a JLF Harness

Sanwa JLF-H Wiring Harness

And can I snag about 50 .110 QDs?

LL Quick Connect, .110" Insulated

i’ll throw in for shipping too if need be.

Can I snag a QD from someone sometime? Toss ya a quarter for one lol. Just need one to fix my DC stick cause I’m gonna try to sell it to make sure I have more money for CEO.

Another question, does anyone know what mods/boards/etc I would need to turn a Ps3 TE into a stick that will work with ps3/360/ps2? Don’t want to have to go the converter route.

Got you guys covered. Again, I’m making this order by 3, so if you catch this and need some parts, speak up.

Depends. You’ve got a few options, all varying in convenience, difficulty of mod, amount wiring used in the mod, aux system support, etc. Keep in mind, there are more options than this, but these are the main 4.

MC Cthulhu + Imp + Madcatz/Gamestop 360 controller PCB + RJ45: works with 360, PS3 and any other system. Uses one cord for 360 and PS3 interface, and uses detachable ethernet cords to connect into the RJ-45 jack for your other system support (as long as you have the cords for it, which I’ll explain later).

Cost: ~85 in parts

ChImp + Madcatz 360 Controller PCB + PS2 controller PCB: works with 360, PS3 and PS2 systems. One cord is PS3 and 360 interface while your other cord provides PS2 support.

Cost: ~75 in parts

PS/360 PCB + PS2 controller PCB: same as above.

Cost: ~55 in parts

Madcatz 360 controller PCB + PS2 controller PCB: again, works for all three systems. 3 separate cords: one for PS3, one for 360, and one for PS2 (there might be a way to make PS3 and 360 cords into one with the use of an Imp chip or a DP/DT switch. I was going to try it on a project box stick)

Cost: ~25 - 40 in parts

The first option is the most labor intensive, as it requires the most soldering and use of wire management. Oddly enough, though, it uses significantly less wire than the other mods and everything can be easily and securely mounted (aside for the controller - that takes some ingenuity)

The rest take little moderate amounts of soldering.

Matt, Mike G. or myself are capable of doing the work: I’d probably be the only one who would take on the more labor intensive one.

Dang Chris A with them top tier explanations! Thanks buddy. I’ve seen some sweet RJ45 modded sticks in Tech Talk, shit looks so clean but I think the budget for the parts is a little high and I’m only going to be using this stick for PS3/2/360. Probably will go with a PS360 + PS2 PCB, I googled a little bit and it seems like for a ChImp you need a 360 pad as well? (http://shoryuken.com/f177/toodles-chimp-board-xbox360-245559/).

Appreciate the help man, soldering is basically my weakest skill of all time (I have some homemade guitar pedal kits that will vouch for me  ) so when I get this shit together I will probably need someone skilled here to help out. Will compensate with some dollars or dinner or something!

EDIT: I would like to learn how to solder, though, as I don’t want to always have to outsource when I could do it myself. I just need someone to kinda teach me how? And make sure I don’t majorly fuck up lol. So maybe when I get all the shit together (it’ll be after I sell my dreamcast stick) if someone’s got a project they’re workin’ on we can team up.

BTW, got our room booked for FR.

Mike G: shot you a barrage of texts this morning about potential costs. I’ll type it out here if you want.

At Jarv: works. Mike John just got one done with that board, and almost no soldering. Get your parts and if Adam will allow it, we can slide through there and get that done in a day. I’ve yet to solder a PS2 PCB into anything, but I can’t imagine it’d be that hard and I’ve got controllers galore

EDIT: Yeah, that’d be fine. I’ve got an American style stick to build, so during that time, we can tag team.

Yeah, if you have a PS3 TE you’re better of just getting a Chimp/DPDT switch setup. OR, you could go with that sweet Paewang Revolution PCB that Andy has, that shit looked mad easy to setup. I think they’re a little pricier than the PS360, but there’s much less to actually do.

Also, if anyone is interested I’ve still got the PS2/Xbox PCB from this SFAE stick for sale. You can’t really use it to dual mod, but it’s a tiny PCB with PS2/XBox support so you can just toss it into a box and have a separate cable.

I want to get some new buttons and JLF for my 360 stick

Sweet. Also i dont mind doing labor intensive mods, but of course the buyer would pay more in labor/parts etc.

With all that said ill be going down to economy/LED mods. I can do the big boy stuff and have been doing it for sometime but id like chris to get his limelight in and get some loot. So if you want some serious mods hit up chris. If you dont want to pay as much for a working but not super clean mod hit me up. I think its a good time to retire from main stream mods after doing over 20 for the entire srk community. I really just wanted the straight up knowledge and the ability to teach others the process. The $$$ was just icing on the cake.

@Logan

In the lab right now trying to replicate your berserker slash crossup shenanigans. I am having trouble comboing out of berserker slash xx berserker charge. is it a dash forward -> fierce or another berserker slash?

Maybe you can fit a timing tornado claw in there? Check out trag13 youtube channel maybe you can find something you need. Or you can give me a minute in pmode and i can tell you if logan doesnt get on here soon.

EDIT:

You need to time a Dash crouching Medium/B, standing Fierce/C, Launcher/S
