You have always been able to just impact unblockables (I mean, since they added that anyway) so it seems only natural that you could just guard them with impacts costing meter. I will agree that just guard seems like too good a defensive option, though, especially given how much Soul Calibur has always rewarded turtling.

EDIT: Oh… just guarding is going to be really stupid. At least with 3S parries, you gave up a default guarding position. The fact that just guarding has regular guarding as a built in option select is going to make the game get real dull real fast. Folks are eventually going to build their whole gameplan around throw mixups.

The difference being that you crouch block very rarely in 3d fighters, at least compared to 2d games.
Yes, in 3d fighters jump-ins aren’t the most common reason to move away from down back. Typically most characters have several overhead/“mid” hitting moves that you can’t block crouching, which come out much faster than the typical slow overhead moves in SF4 type games.

Yeah, I was just messing with you. Indeed, though, Soul Calibur is the game for you. SC2 was such a turtlefest it was occasionally maddening. There are some disadvantages to just turtling up now, but it’s still really strong.

We may have to postpone Saturday stream. Brought my PC back, hooked it up, and it overheated after about 5 minutes. Opened up the case, and the motherboard fan came unglued and detached from the motherboard. Reattached, and now I’m getting zero video output to my monitor. I have no idea what is wrong - I think I have to take it to the dude by Best Buy and let him rape my wallet to fix this anytime soon.
EDIT: Derp. The fan coming loose just pulled a separate wire semi-loose and I didn’t notice it. All I need now is for somebody to help me fix the semi-bent plastic mounts on the fan, and help me re-permanently attach it.

I don’t know - they’re tiny and there’s a small metal rod between the plastic pins that make it tough to bend them the opposite direction. There’s also some kind of adhesive on the botom of the fan that came off. I have no idea what to do about that.
