From what I know, this system was definitely not implemented during the time I was in high school. Also Love is older than me, So he couldn’t have been a “Victim of the EDM school system”. I have read some posts by you firing back at us Edmontonians, and they all use the “school system” as a insult. Kind of a childish way of insulting us, considering you assume everyone that talks shit back to you is a high schooler. From what I see, it pretty much goes:

You get VERY defensive about it.
The other person responds.
Then you insult them with this School System thing.

look at these free coasters all happy and smug about their ONE good player. East coast has at least 10-15 UMVC3 Top players that are probably better than Bee or at the same level. Bee barely beat one out of them (DTQ) in a MM and then suddenly the amount of free coast dickriding goes through the roof. Detrimantix is still a good player and im not discounting that, a win is a win, vanilla phoenix just often entitles people to a few more than they deserved sometimes. It’s pretty obvious the EC has a larger amount of better players because of the population differences, but what isn’t obvious to everyone outside of Edmonton is the fact we have the bes player. When EC sends down one of their top players and he doesn’t make top 8 and we send down our best player at the time and they are the top placing Canadian you have to start to connect the dots and stop living in denial.
The level of play in both ae and marvel is very comparable west to east except for chi-rithy from montreal who may be the best in canada. but west canada also has a lot of legit guys who made it out of pools at evo, more than toronto has.
just remember that in canada cup last year the AE Yun guy from toronto wanted to make a team canada with just montreal + toronto, but in the end a team of western canada + montreal was a WAY BETTER choice.
just look at the recent toronto AE tourney from last week-end + bee beating one of the best toronto players to see that western canada has great players too, at the same level as the east.
also western canada arent the guys making videos trash talking americans and asking them to MM only to back down. western canada didnt also go into edmonton threads saying “stop streaming your local players doing exhibitions with americans cuz its embarrassing all of canada waaah waaaahh”
bottom line: west canada level is comparable to east canada, just some people cant let go of the myth that toronto > west canada and makes excuses all the time. “Blanka from Alberta beat a lot of Toronto players… but only because he was using scrubby tactics and toronto players failed to adapt!!! It’s so easy to beat him waaahhh waaaahhh”
note: not talking about ALL the toronto players, lots of skilled players at that toronto tourney like the rufus commentator or el fuerte and they didnt make excuses.

I think what Love meant is towards other people. As noted he was quoting HvE. We know that you (gsxtacy) bet money on your friend because you believe he can win. Not because us WC players are free, but on the fact that you have confidence in your friend (Like Quan when he came to Edmonton). Its just the EC community has people who talk shit about us, usually saying something along the lines of “THIS PERSON WILL BODY BEE FOR FREEEEEEEE” or “QUAN HAD AN OFF DAY! BEE GOT LUCKY!” (after ABD3). Its the fact that there are people like this within the group that make you, a person betting on your friend because you are confident of him winning, look like all the other shit talkers. You have the right to say you’ll back one of your boys, just like I would back Love or Bee because we have an opinion thinking our friend will win.

Even though Quan lost the match back in August, I respect him alot as a player. He came out and gave it his best. I consider his taskmaster to be one of the best.
