That’s not farfrom it. Like the big joke with Zangief players is that Zangief players never tech hit, Seth players never block. In the middle of a mixup series off dive-kick for example, most Seths are either 360ing, low shorting, insta-overheading, etc. There’s no “block” in this mixup situation.
I think smart strategy vs. Seth is figuring out how to build meter as effectively as possible to give yourself a lot of guess DPs. I don’t even try mixing up Ryu/Sagat/Rufus with meter anymore, I just run from them all day. Whiffing pokes at mid-range isn’t as bad against Seth as it is against other characters. If you miss because I jumped, I’m just going to get jump fierce for 8% damage. If you miss and I get low forward, I only get 10-15% damage + space considerations.
I think that as people play the match out, the more they realize when it’s OK to attack and take chances and they start doing it. The worst thing you can do vs. Seth is get locked up and stop trying. Sometimes when I play him online, I can see the other person just mentally check out halfway through round 1 and I know I’ve got them. You always have to be willing to take a chance, just takes a bit of match experience to know when you’re OK to hit buttons.
