T.Hawk Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Then explained what happened. Because Idk what happened shrug

LP, MP, and HP Mexican Typhoon have the same amount of startup frames, dawg. Think about it.

You mistimed it. Pretty simple

oh ok. I did mistime it wrong. my bad. I get randomness, but ill work on it.

LP LP SPD is like day one hawk =/

What the best way to do a standing 360 motion on a stick?

Just hold the stick and spin in a 360 motion?:wonder:

Just practice it and you’ll find your own way eventually. I tend to swing it clockwise on 1P side and counterclockwise on 2P side, but you might find it easier the other way. Also, the motion can actually be done with only a 270 degree motion (just make sure your stick starts & ends up in the correct place, any less and the move won’t come out. Check the input display on training) but I do the full 360 degrees just in case, as insurance.

Yeah, ppl told me it a 270 motion then a 360 really or just buff it. Thank for the tip tho

standing 360:
toward to up-back, toward, punch

easiest way imo. and actually it works with back to, so if your used to going clockwise, it will work for both 1p and 2p side.

Is doing the EX Spire, Ex Tomahawk, EX Dive combo worth using 3 bars? I just didn’t know if it was worth giving up a potential super.

I use that combo late game if you know the damage will kill them. However, I rarely use it. I usually just to EX.DP EX.Dive Its like some ridiculous amount of damage.

For the record for those who have trouble with 360 you can do Fei longs Chicken wing input and that reads as 360. Works in the same direction to so you don’t have to adjust depending on what side you are on.

Howdy, folks! I’m interested in the art of T. Hawk. (Also interested in the art of Saikyo ) Anyhow, I don’t have much experience with the grapplers, but I really want to start to use a more traditional character as I learn El Fuerte (and trying to learn his RSF combo is frustrating), I have a few questions about the big guy.

  1. (This could apply for a few grapplers, really) Standing 720. I know you need to buffer, but what’s generally the best way to buffer it in T. Hawk’s case?

2)Are there any BnB combos? I don’t see a combo thread here (unless I was stupid and missed it).

  1. For his command grab, which strength is best? (I assume its either jab or fierce)

Thanks!

hawk has a few combos but my fav bnb is crossup j.fp(chest press) >st.mp>ex spire or ex tomohawk with followup.

corner combo i did recently, j.RH > st.mp > st.mp > ex. spire or tomohawk Note: the two standing mp’s have to be the close version and j.rh puts you closer than j.fp i think.

another combo is j.rh or fp > cr.j > cr.j > st.j > cr. mp

  1. this is answered in a few threads if you search around (maybe even this one earlier, can’t remember). you can buffer a 720 with T.Hawk in about 11 different ways with jumps, normals, specials, setups, etc. Just experiment.

2)combo thread here: T.Hawk Combo Thread. Posts 1, 2, and 15 are where it’s at for more combos than you’ll ever need.

  1. fierce for enemies with great reversals and low health (akuma comes to mind because safejump splash option select stuff is really not worth the guessing game). I prefer lp typhoon in general though, followed by safe jump o-s setups for continued pressure/damage/stun. see the o-s thread here.

once you’ve digested and practiced that stuff, go dunk some foolz.

You can buffer 360/720 with taunt as well.

Been playing Hawk. Can I do all of his stuff on 360 controller? Standing Close mp to sclp is e-z for me. So other than that, anything?

What exactly is the timing in order to make Hawk’s meaty splash after knockdown safe? I always seem to get AAed out of it. Unless I’m severely mixed up, it should be safe if timed properly, no?

What is up with all the Hawk hataz?

I play ranked games and get a crapton of messages saying stuff along the lines of ‘play with a character that requires skill’ and ‘Hawk is easy mode’

I try my best to play a legit Hawk, I don’t dive spam or anything. I mean, I know you can’t mega combo with him and FADC into ultras like the rest of the shoto army, but still…

People online are dumb. The most I’ll do if someone sends me hate mail is reply with “u mad” or something stupid like that. To them, grapplers are cheap, and nothing you say is gonna change that in their mind.

Is it wise to sometimes do a condor dive after a short jump just to close the gap between your opponent and try to land a command grab? I find myself doing that a lot, and sometimes I do this succesfully. Is this ok or it’s better to try and do a condor spire or something else?
