T.Hawk Laboratory

So I posted up a statement earlier on in the forum that no one responded to so I’m essentially reposting it with a little extra information. But in any case I found out if you do T. Hawk’s close standing Fierce punch and then link a standing Light punch you can do a light punch condor spire after the light punch which gives you enough space for it to whiff and give you mixup game. You can test it for yourself, but i’m just letting you know it works.

someone told me that thawks U2 never scale so you can stun someone, do FA level 3 and still ultra for full damage. true?

just wondering because thats pretty awesome

though im not sure if hes talking about console or AE.

Ultra 2? The anti-air? It can’t be combo’d into in Super and from what people have tested you can’t do it in AE either. I don’t know if anyone has tested L3 FA > U2 in AE yet.

Maybe w/ U1?

I can’t speak for AE, but I tried doing anti air focus attack into ultra, and just focus crumple into ultra. Neither of those worked. I also tried Level 3 Focus attack -> Level 2 focus attack -> Ultra 2, but he dashes too slowly for that to work. I’ll try it for AE when I get to school tomorrow and see what happens.

Cough

Well it looks like I’ll be playing this game seriously now that HDR is removed from the EVO lineup. XD

I’ll be maining Hawk since he makes the game a little more fun for me to play.

I have alot of catching up to do.

Focus Attack Crumple Ultra 2 WORKS! just gotta wait for the body to fall a little bit… and it doesn’t count as being part of a combo since it’s a grab… ** I CHECKED IT MYSELF… Crumple into ultra 2 vs Raw Ultra 2 = combo was the same #… that means the crumple didn’t count :). **

think about this for minute, check out this gdlk math.

Lp Spd, 150, Cross up Body press into Cl Strong into DP does 300-330… If you get the stun right there… and then focus

T hawks focus does 170… but since it comes right after a stun it counts as the continuation of a combo, so as a 4th hit it’ll scale to 70% right? so that’s 119. so 150+310+119 = 579… then since after the crumple they’re ari born, you can tag ultra 2… IT DOESN"T SCALE… FULL ULTRA BABY!!!

if it’s maxed out 450 that’s a total of ** 1029** of course this is ideal!!! i’m just playing with the numbers just to show the power of an unscaled ultra

in other words… if you get a stun… even off an spd and have a full ultra… that should be game… or very close

even if off an spd 150 + 170 = 320, 320 +450 = 770…

if we’re dealing with a low ultra… it’ll be in the 500-600 range…

Your math is off, but this is interesting nonetheless. Focus attack counts as two hits. And ultras count as two hits. Good stuff on the other finds though.

awww you’re right… i was typing to quickly… so it’s not gonna by 1000+ it’s gonna be prolly in the 800 range…

so… never mind everyone, this trick sucks go back to what you were doing

haha nice, i kept fuckin up the input for U2 so i was like fuck it ill just believe what my friend said haha

next week when my friends and I go to play arcade edition, i’ll bring a cmera to record it.

yo lee, next THURSDAY night, head over to video 94, or Round 1. You’re one of the few t hawk players i know, I wanna see the look on your face when you see how gdlk ultra 2 is now

I guess they did change it to a hitbox afterall. That screenshot from the dev blog showed the hitbox as red (instead of a blue grab from Super). It doesn’t work with EX spire or LP SRK so the juggle state must be 0 or however that works not allowing more hits. They must have changed Hawk’s L3 focus or something.

Too bad Hawk’s L2 crumple is slower than everyone else’s. :frowning: Who knows? Maybe they changed that too.

Yo, weekdays are impossible for me. I was thinking of going up to FFA tonight to check this out. Wow.

hey everybody, Im new to the T.hawk forums but Ive found some neat technology with hawk that might be helpful to other people. Sorry if this is all common knowledge.

First of all, I have a few nice BnB’s that I dont see any other hawks using. A nice universal combo that works at almost any range after a jump in body splash is close HP-far MP. does around 300 damage and leaves you at good frame advantage (+2). leaves the opponent standing at great footsie range for thawk, so you can mix it up between far HK if they try and jump away after the combo, c.HK if they try and backdash, dash up command grab if they like to block, ect.
Im sure most of you knew that already though, but something that you probably dont know is that Hawk can link into his SRK after a close HP. I havent tested this too much, but so far ive found that after a jump in body splash into s.hp Thawk can link into LP SRK on Cammy/Blanka and he can link into ex srk on Blanka/Abel. If you choose to follow up with ex condor dive I believe you get somewhere around 400 damage, not bad at all. This combo might work on other characters too, Id assume el fuerte, seth and anyone else with a wide standing hitbox.

Also does anybody know how many recovery frames are on thrust peak (down forward + LP)?

ya. it’s -5 ** ON HIT** and -8 on block

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

but it has an amazing hit box and it comes out in 3 frames.

I wasnt asking for the frame advatange, I wanted to know how many recovery frames it has. I know it (supposedly) has 7 active frames and atleast 8 frames of hitstun (since it combos into HP srk). Assuming it has exactly 8 frames of hitstun, then in order for it to be -5 on hit, it must have 6 frames of recovery. I was hoping it would have alot less so that you could use it as a safe meaty against DP’s. Its possible that it has more active frames than the frame data says, meaning less recovery frames.

it’s cancelable. i wouldn’t try it as a safe meaty. Prima says 12f recovery

SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV FRAME DATA - PRIMA Official Game Strategy

prima also says its -4 on hit, which is wrong, and has 15 frames of hitstun (meaning it would combo into ex spire), which is also wrong. You can still do option selects with cancelable moves, the timing just a little tighter.

Yeah they are off by 1. Add 1 frame to recovery or subtract 1 from hitstun and blockstun

Im just saying, I dont trust most frame data. But anyway, I did a little testing and it seems that it has too many recovery frames for what I want to do. oh well.
However, I did find some other neat stuff. More character specific combos and an option select against crouch block. Ill try posting the details some time tomorrow.
