T-Bone's Assist: Accident or intended?

Have you tried doing the rings when Tron’s on point?

Uh, compare Storm and Sent as point characters to Tron. Besides, your point about assists is wrong anyway. Lots of characters on point can turn a Storm or Sent assist hit into well over half damage or even into a kill. I agree that Tron is an annoying hooker but she’s not annoying for any reasons you’re referencing. The main thing she’s good at is getting your assists into trouble really, really quickly. Call your Psy or Commando into a well-placed Tron and you can kiss your Psy goodbye. Conversely, the main time I trot out Tron is when someone is centering themselves around playing completely defensively with like Commando assist. Then I spend an entire round focusing on nothing but counter-calling Tron into Commando and after 1~3 of those I don’t have to worry about Commando anymore.

As a point character’s main assist her strengths aren’t as big, sure anyone/Tron landing a low short on you is going to hurt (especially fkn Rogue, ugh that hooker) but a low short from ANY decently-assembled team is going to hurt. If you’d rather get low shorted by Mag/Psy than Mag/Tron, you’re smoking some crack. Mag/Tron is way less protected and gives you the biggest chance to actually fight back (and it’s not like it’s ever a good idea to let Mag low short you anyway).

Anyways, this also sort of underscores why Storm/Sent is so dominant. Mash on trijump HP backward with Storm while spamming Sent assist, stopping occasionally for random typhoon xx hail, and you’re not going to be that worried about their Tron anymore. And she’s a good assist.

I use Strider/Sentinel/Tron as my main.
Strider’s overhead into Tron beams are very strong and provide a good 50/50 mixup in the corner. Since Tron comes out in front of him and Strider is smaller than Tron, letting Tron take the hit really provides some room to counter as well. The first part of Tron’s beam comes out with enough response with Sentinel’s block -> pushblock for the fucking win.

Strider/Tron may not play like Strider/Doom as it doesn’t allow for chip, but the lockdown is still there and getting a hit in isn’t very hard.

It’s a very technical team where you have to rely on experience of positioning yourself against your opponent so that Tron comes out in a win situation. Throwing Tron out like Psylocke or Cyclops is a no-no.

Not to mention with Strider I have to be extra careful. You just have to be patient and counter-call with Tron.

Oh, and first hit is always nice. But fighting Magneto in the beginning is never the win.

Have to go with Preppy here. Yes, she’s a top tier assist. So what? Stop complaining and do something about it, it’s part of the game. She’s not unbeatable, and it’s not like she’s the only character in the game who forces you to change your tactics a little. Pick Cyclops AAA and laugh at the whole team. Problem solved.

Tron Assist isnt as bad as some assists. There are many more annoying assists. If you honestly cant win one mathc against tron without breaking a sweat, then you need to reconsider your play style or use a different team. I use OMega/Samurai/Anakaris. All three have some way to get around Tron assist (stay in air wiht Omega and Anakaris, Ice Mode Samurai). BH assist in my opinion is far more annoying, especially with chars like Doom on point. But I can still beat an actual good BH team when they use that assist. And I can even handle a Commando team. You aren’t playing smart. And if you would rather fight Psyloke any day, you do realize although it is more work, a Mag/Psy combo will just as easily kill you as a one hit tron + some other char. You must be playing some really bad players. And who cares if you need runaway or stalling, some characters base that on their game (like Anakaris :D).

I think it was intended to be in the game. Players just later found out how good it was just like all the other top tier assists, strategies, and teams.

Awesome. After today I think it is safe to say that T-bone crap does not work on me any more.

I shut that garbage down today, and kicked ass. Mainly by doing lots of mind games, runaway, and staying out of corners with my Charlie team. When It came down to just T-bone and no assist left for them to hide behind, payback biatch!

:woot: :lovin:

i have the xbox version at home and the juggernuant glitch was taken out but tron bonne and ken still have the high damage so im thinking that they were not glitches otherwise they would have been taken out

Perfect, I ran into one of these players today

It worked on me the first match, and then after I beat him until he left the cabinet. I just had to change my tactics, see the move coming, and counter attack. It’s annoying as hell, but I don’t think it’s as bad as Doom or anything, and with some thinking you can get through it, like you did

M/S/T is a great team.

I haven’t read this thread at all.

Agreed

Tron seriously is not that bad if not paired with someone with a fast overhead ie. storm mag. If your constantly getting hit by the assist via cr. short into some over head, dont know what to tell you but learn to block better. The only time it becomes hard to block is constant high low games from mag or storm and anyone with decent tri-jump.

To agree with you though yes, some people do just pick her and spam assist, but thats when it becomes fun and you kill it off, do the same for any assist that gets spammed.

I use MST almost exclusively and i can tell you fighting with out an AA isn’t fun when your up against things like sent. But to me people who bitch about the assist either A) use the damn assist them selves B) counter it.

Constant runaway is a strategy, but i don’t know anyone who enjoys fighting that. My thinking is if someone is going to constantly run away, about 80% of the people that play at the arcade i play at do this, i’m going to make each and every hit hurt like a mother or kill the char off.
