hi guys! i’m installing an Imp v2 on a TE stick… it’s AWESOME, but… how can i force it to 360 mode on a PC? Thanks!
Look one post above yours.
thx dude xD i alread figured out after writing the post ;_;
Out of stock!!! My Google-fu is no good when searching for these. Where else could we go to pick up a bunch of these?
You can get rj-45 pin connectors from jameco also but I’m not sure if they sell singles
Hahah nice, as soon as I asked about it, I got an email from SparkFun showing they have 13 in stock. I bought 5.
Toodles, are the current Imp true v1.0?
Or are they v1.1 in disguise?
Since the no stock of Imp v1.1 when Imp v2 was being tested, the new Imp have been v1.0 stamp.
Not sure I understand the question.
The v1.0 Imp was the same shape and layout as the 1.1 imp, but the four holes under the USB jack area were very small and difficult to use. The v1.1 Imp was the same except those four holes were embiggened.
Fast forward to the current v2.1 Imp, which has the overhauled layout and functionality, and the ‘v2.1’ label in the USB jack area.
All the Imp on Lizard Lick that are not Imp v2.1, they are stamped Imp v1.0 being.
Imp v1.1 has the C and F printing where the PIC goes.
So I wanted to know if the current Imp, can be used with Cthulhu+ for the extras or not.
Because it seemed weird that when Imp v1.1 went out stock, you restocked for Imp with v1.0 stamp.
I think it’s just that LL didnt change the picture; I would imagine that they are v1.1.
The Imp v1.1 should be usable with Cthulhu+ features, but in a weird way. Don’t install the 8 pin microcontroller, and you’ll see two pads marked with a C and F. Connect those to the C and F columns of the Cthulhu+ respectively.
Not the pictures.
But the actual product received.
The Lizard Lick pictures show Imp v1.1 being.
But I have bought many Imp since January, and they are Imp v1.0 stamped every time.
So are these “Imp v1.0” really Imp v1.0?
Or do they have the Imp v1.1 code on a Imp v1.0 board?
As far as I can remember, the only difference between the 1.0 and 1.1 was the widening of the USB holes and the addition of the C and F to the board silkscreen. Code in the chip should be identical, only the boards changed.
Hi Toodles, i was wondering if you could confirm which jumpers had to be shorted to allow Start+Select=Guide button on the impv2. I’m currently running a MC Cthulhu with Impv2. I have the right jumpers shorted on the MC Cthulhu and it works fine on PS3, but when the Madcatz fightpad is in control for xbox mode it doesnt work. I know the older generation Imp had something for this with places to solder start, select, and a jumper to short. Is there something similar on the impv2?
The instructions on GodLikeControls also hint to it, but only provide direct instructions for a non-autodetect setup, but since im working with an MC Cthulhu i’d like to make sure it continues to auto detect.
Thank you for your help !
No jumpers are used with the S+S=G on the MC. Wire it up using the ‘MC Cthulhu’ column in the imp2.pdf welcome sheet. The MC will automatically do the S+S=G when in 360 mode. Here in a bit I’ll have a new MC firmware so it’ll also do S+S=G in PS3 mode. Leave all of the jumpers alone, update the firmware when I put up the new one, and that’s it.
Thank you very much for the swift reply Toodles ! You are always very patient and understanding.
I would just like to clarify, to make sure i understand correctly;
First: The godlikecontrols sheet of the MC Cthulhu describes the DISABLE_HOME jumper, this is the only jumper i have closed on any of the boards.
Second: The S+S=G works in PS3 mode already, did you mean the inverse? that with the firmware upgrade will make it work in 360 mode as well?
Thank you again Toodles, I sincerely appreciate all your work.
- That jumper needs removed. It holds the Home line down to ground; great for telling the MC ‘hey, we dont got a Home button’, but crap for letting the MC control the guide on a the 360 pad next to it.
- It works now because that jumper is soldered. When you remove it, it wont until you update the firmware with the one I’m tweaking now. The current code could do S+S=G for the 360 pad, but it wont work because the jumper is forcing the signal low; the 360 pad would think the guide is always held down.
Remove the jumper, update the firmware when I post it shortly, you’re done.
Amazing, i will patiently wait for your firmware upgrade, clean up that jumper and all will be well. You are truly amazing Toodles. Thank you.
Hey guys, Í’m just wondering if any of you have come across a problem with the imp v2.1’s where it doesn’t switch to the 360?
I’ve recently wired up a ps3 VLX with a mad catz fight and imp v2.
I wired the imp as per http://www.godlikecontrols.com/imp2.pdf and for the life of me it won’t switch to the 360.
I remember having a problem like this with the imp 1.1’s but just wondering if there are any of you that has had the same prob with the 2.1’s?
As in, it always shows up as PS3, no errors but just never changes? Then check that the solder jumpers A and C are shorted, and B is not, then check the controlling button, the one going to ‘F’ on the imp.
