That’s a coincidence, because I don’t think they’ll “burn” either!
I don’t have time to get into at the moment, but needless to say I don’t think it makes sense, philosophically, and based on what Jesus and Paul say that it isn’t conscious separation (and therefore torment with the lack of good, as I think it says in Philiipians). Also I don’t think Universalism makes sense of these things either, although it would be nice it were true.
If you don’t mind me asking, what is your interpretation of John 14:6
That’s one of the main passages held up by evangelicals to support the claim of “exclusive salvation”. Also, if it’s possible to live a moral life and to gain entry into heaven without believing in Christianity, then what’s the point of it?
oh how boring, and here I was hoping for some entertainment. OH WELL. Perhaps some other christian who believes in the standard fire and brimstone would care to post?
Are you a Christian who believes Hell is “merely” a separation from God?
If so, can you at least point me to the relevant passages that support this assertion because I have yet to see them.
Further, the whole idea of separation from God is logically incoherent. God, as defined by Christians, is omnipresent, which means he’s everywhere. So how can you ever possibly be separated from him?
I have quite a few things to say on this topic, so bear with me.
All of the major religions have beliefs that have been set in stone for ages, but the issue at hand is that (whether or not they are true) all of them have had to be adapted to fit modern societal standards. For example, in the Bible it says that if you disobey your parents, they should bring you to the elders of your city so that you can be stoned to death (Deuteronomy 21:18-21). Obviously, this doesn’t work in the modern world, so it needs to be edited. The problem with editing is that the people who edit religious scriptures can change the lives of millions with just a few sentences. Knowing this and seeing the history of corruption in the world would lead one to believe that there’s a 100% chance that the scriptures written in modern forms of religious text are not the original intended messages. But where do you draw the line? How much of the scriptures do you apply to modern life and what do you omit from your lifestyle? Is it a sin to not follow the Bible word for word? Why or why not?
It’s just like when Christians protest with signs that say “God hates f*gs”. People like my parents get mad about that, but the Bible does say that homosexuals do not get into Heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Sooooo are you supposed to banish members of your family who are gay because God is against homosexuality? Legally, you can’t just abandon your child if they’re under 18. So who do you follow? The law or God?
Also, the Muslim faith can preach peace all they want, but the fact of the matter is that each person is different. People know what their religion wants them to do, but they just have really aggressive personalities and decide to do whatever the fuck they want (i.e. kill people). I remember watching a special on religion where an Islamic woman said that Islam is about peace. The interviewer then said,“What about where it says in the Quran to slay infidels because Allah is an enemy to unbelievers?” She then says,“I don’t interpret the scriptures that way, I don’t think they meant to kill people.” This just proves that morality has a lot more power than you think. The fact is that she’s not a violent person, that’s just not her. So she chooses to omit that from her religious practice. But is she wrong for that? Since so many people in all religions can hide behind the free pass of “I did this in the name of God”, they become semi-immune to criticism. What ultimately needs to happen is the leaders of the big religions need to police their fucking people. I have Muslim friends who feel like shit when stuff like this happens, because they know they’ll be lumped in with the extremists. It’s ridiculous that people act out in the name of religion and the leaders let that shit happen. But on the other side of the coin, how can you regulate something that big? When you have tens to hundreds of millions of supporters, you don’t really have control anymore.
It’s pretty crazy how one stupid website with fucking anonymous posters, that all is run by a jewish guy here in the states can suddenly make the news to get this whole “muslim hate” ball rolling. I mean you would have thought that the creators had gotten letters in the mail written in blood the way this shit got thrown around in the media.
Man being a muslim today seems like a big catch 22. You can’t move away from the crazies because people from what I see here want you to clean up YOUR mess, as if it was your fault that these guys are nuts and that you aren’t bullet proof and maybe don’t want to get blown up as much as the next guy.
Then because you don’t jump on the bandwagon you are seen as subhuman, hell even if you just go about your every day life you get shunned because so much “free speech” being tossed around calling you and everyone that looks like you a souless terrorist out to destroy the free world. Meanwhile you just want your dollar menu like everyone else, but feel like maybe you have to always go through the drive thru. Sucks to be you…
So, when you follow the word of God to the letter and get thrown in jail for stoning your child to death, God is gonna send angels to help you escape from the bing?
I would post in this thread more because I sure do love ripping on primitive, superstitious, violent, hate mongers like muslims, but I feel like fish has got a lot of my shit covered.
Man I know, we should just carpet bomb those dirty SAVAGES into oblivion, wipe off the face of the earth like the SAVAGES that used to live here in America. This is why we should have never let those savages out of chains, it’s because of them we have so many bleeding heart lefties supporting the actions of these savage monsters threatening us in every way possible!!!
I say we get rid of them and then get rid of all the other SAVAGES over there in the orient as well, before we end up with another Pearl Harbor!!!
yeah good job cartoonist for insulting a whole nation. just shows how dumbed down westerners are in certain areas, insulting their god is like saying “I fucked your mum and it was good” and showing photographs of the event
people need to think how they affect people. not saying there aren’t PLENTY of islamic arseholes, but come on you have to be fucking stupid to support such a stupid move
Couldn’t have said it better myself. People derive their interpretation of the scriptures based on the contemporary beliefs at the time. Back then, genocide and slavery was okay, so all three religions based on the God of Abraham had verses that didn’t think twice about condoning such actions. Today, since it is not okay, believers now interpret those verses differently. A couple of decades ago, interracial marriage was not okay, and Christians quoted many verses condemning it. Now, interracial marriage is fine and very few religious people think twice about it. Today, gay marriage is not okay and a lot of Christians are not okay with it. In a few decades, I wouldn’t be surprised if Christians openly supported it. etc…
People who are religious do not base their sense of morality on the ancient scriptures, because if that were true, they’d be slave owning, child killing, genocidal polygamists who spoke in tongues, and went around trying to perform healing miracles and raising people from the dead. Instead, they cherry pick the verses that support their world view.
