Obviously humans are animals but using traits found in other animal species to defend/support what some of our own kin do is outright silly. Perhaps sentience was not the most perfect word to sum this up but what other animal has the ability to have an introspective look at themselves as a collective whole and weed out the weaknesses so, together, they evolve into something better. Gay rights as a whole is a good thing because they are in everyway equal to anybody else and deserve the full rights and respect of society, but letting them have kids is too much of a grey area for me, cause a person can be an asshole but a good parent, but somebody not wired instinctually for the job has a much higher chance of not being so imo. The natural vs. unnatural argument is stupid. As a species, everything we do is unnatural. Do you see any other species drinking milk well into their adulthood (and from a separate species for that matter)? How about use a car? Does a lion cook a steak before chowing down? How about a cow as it munches on grass? 99% of the things we do in our every day lives isn’t natural. Why do you choose homosexuality as the one we should fight against?

I fully and whole heartedly support gay rights. I think the United States hit a much needed milestone last week with the legalization of gay marriage on a national scale. I’m proud to be an American.
That said, I’m not sure how I feel about children being raised in a gay household. This has nothing to do with rights. Instead, my hesitation comes from the fact that I believe I’d be a little put off growing up if I knew my dad was a fagit.

I’ve always found it funny that one of the primary arguments for “gay is ok” is the fact that being gay is natural. It’s as if people shut off their brains and that one fact actually makes being gay ok.
There are lots of natural things in the world that aren’t safe. ANY predator is unsafe to be around. Good luck wrestling those natural alligators, more power to you. I believe in a persons right to be stupid and reduce the population of themselves so get on with it. I believe in a gay persons right to do what they want in their own household if its within the law. I don’t believe they should get bashed or harassed as long as they are being respectable in society. I don’t think teaching children to be gay or to accept being gay is an acceptable practice for use on them before the age of 12-13.
I don’t think we as society can police every bad action/behavior nor should we. There are differences in thinking as to what constitutes bad or good. But I also don’t think we should be offensively policing gay people’s rights to enforce their lifestyle on other people.
I don’t believe we should silence other people’s voices with regards to free speech. KKK has as much right to spout racism about black people as I have of spouting my anti KKK rhetoric.
The only time I think free speech needs to be policed is when it calls for violence or when it misapproprates knowledge for the use of harming others in a direct physical or slanderous way, or when it affects children adversely to what the parents want.
Gay/straight/religious should not be talked about in grade school.
Tldr
Something being natural is in no way an excuse for letting bad things happen. It’s a ridiculous argument. And more thought needs to be put into what we allow our children to be exposed to.
Tbh I would have zero problems with gay marriage if my children could be guaranteed not to be exposed to that notion before they are 18.
But since there is no way to do that I’d rather there be a separation between hetero marriage and gay unions.
