Changing the name won’t make it unequal and it’s not going to be the same, you only think so because you, being raised in Western culture, see Marriage as a general term for wedlocks. We don’t object allowing other different types of wedlocks like Vivaha, or other religious holidays like Kwanza or Hanukkah, in the US because we understand their different beliefs and respect that they are keeping it as their business.
There are many different wedlocks and religious events, each and everyone of those titles harbor their own religious beliefs to it,and the word “marriage” (meaning: man and woman) is a title of Christian wedlock… it’s an event that is tied to our beliefs. So saying Gay marriage is being taken like Hindu Hanukah or KKK kwanza. We are not injecting anything, it is our beliefs that is being invaded if you want religion out of politics in this country then don’t force politics on our religion either. All that could have been done is just change the name… you don’t see christians having problems with

This IN NO WAY will force your religion to officiate gay marriages. Catholics don’t wanna do it? They don’t have to! Religious freedom. But it ends there. You don’t get to dictate who the state can give a marriage license to just because they don’t agree with your philosophy. So your religion is still the same, but the U.S. has no official religion and makes it a point in the goddamn piece of legislation that created this nation that state and religion will remain separate.

I never said Marriage existed before christianity, what razor pointed was wrong because he barely (even in his latest reply) could not understand the context of my post. I’m saying that there are many different wedlocks given different names, each and everyone of those wedlocks are named by the religion they are under because they are meant to honor a belief with in it. I had the first sentence as “change the name” referencing other names of wedlocks in different cultures but still my post is being understood as claiming “marriage” was invented by Christianity, and denying of marriage license according to Razor?
Since most of us are used to western terminologies, we think the word “marriage” is a general term for all the wedlocks… but it’s not. The point is, you can’t just use a religious term along with something that the religion is against. It’s like saying the Hindu Passover.
