Pretty much the only times potential vessels have heard angel’s speaking is when they are being prepped or asked to be possessed. Castiel spoke to his host, Satan did the same but no host has been shown able to hear angel real voices other then speaking to them right before the step where they get convinced to be possessed. I’d take it that those points last season were all before Cas took control of his vessel. Thus why angel talk was too much for Dean and everything around him to hear.

i wonder if gabriel will come into play at some point. or if gabriel is watching chuck. cuz its safe to assume…michael is not watching chuck which leaves about 3-4 archangels i believe left.
Not sure if the show is referring to the same person, but there is mention of Zecharias/Zacharias in the Bible as being John the Baptist’s father. It was Gabriel that appeared to him, to which Z didn’t exactly have a good reaction too.
It seems like it could be who the character in the show is modeled after, since Zachariah did mention in the season finale something along the lines of “This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this happen.” Also, he appears to Chuck, a prophet, so there’s that I guess.
Of course, the Angel Ward/Symbol that Castiel made did get rid of him so bleh.
Edit: Forgot where i was going with this. Anyhow, my point was, he may not be an angel, but still be able to run around with them. We’ve seen Prophets and Archangels (though only their “presence”) so it could be that the show may introduce further aspects, like Saints, the Metatron, Martyrs, and so on.

Yeah I thought it was kind of odd that one of the four horseman would choose some podunk midwestern town to start messing with people and trying to insight conflict. It would make more sense for him to be in a largely populated area.

Frankly, both Sam and Dean when interacting or talking about their situation kind of grate my nerves.

[details=Spoiler] It was messed up thinking back on it how Sam killed those kids, who technically were only defending themselves from Sam’s gun totting self.
But I’d imagine it would be worst for the rest of the survivors. They have been killing each other for a week and among the survivors, and given the closet things we saw to really young kids were the baby stroller in the street near the big blood smear I’d imagine a good number of people are going to have sleepless nights in that town.
Also the breakup while still coming off as awkward and abrupt, it works for me. I would like to see each brother grow without the other for a while.
