I won like…2 matches with him, lol. The rest of the time was just me getting my uppercut stuffed and throwing out way too many unsafe fireballs.
Well there was that… I guess you did do better with Ryu, glad I could help
yo DNG down here right now with only 1 ST buddy. you guys should roll down here and keep him company! calling out FUSON, SHIRTS, and the rest of the cast!
I did my time yesterday. I spent at LEAST 5 bucks trying to beat you Watson. I’m saving my money for Wednesday.
I’ll see you guys weds =) got three days off from the hell hole that is McDonalds. We in there. Can’t wait to get games in.
best be hookin up some nuggets and mcribs for everyone here imo!
yo whoever got tomo’s number get him to super to play some HF or better yet learn a “new” game
we want to see that ryu cr rh sweep to punish guile’s cr forward.

get a 3 on 3 1st gen tomo jeff watson vs 3rd gen afro dgv shoto in HF or ST!
As far as i know, he was just trolling on Supercade when he was at Jeff’s house, not sure if he intends on playing it seriously again.
As far as the 3on3 thing, I’m pretty sure the OGs would win HF hands down, and the new players would win ST. I don’t believe Tomo and Jeff ever liked ST or even played it seriously, and seeing as how they haven’t touched the game in years, I can’t imagine they would ever beat newer players who have been consistently playing ST for years.
they have proved themselves years ago that they were the best in various tournaments.
seriously I don’t think you could still play SF2 casuals offline with good comp anywhere in the US except in socal / super arcade.
of course they don’t practice like back in the days (8 hours/day??), no one is expecting them to be unbeatable now. but it’s all about having fun.
I think put Tomo with O Ryu, and its a wrap. OCV.
True, but I don’t think he’d be interested in the first place, unless it was JUST for HF. Also, I don’t think he’d be used to the ideas of supers, since the more powerful ones completely negate the use of fundamentals without risk of eating a 30-60% super.
But it would cool to watch the original OG in action, and I’m sure the internets would love to watch some actual footage of him.
Imagine the pressure he must have for himself after all these years. I bet he’d want to stay under ground until he felt himself again. To be honest he has nothing to prove to us and I don’t think anyone expects him to come out of retirement dominating everyone. But it would be fun just for some casual matches.
Can’t make it out tomorrow, I have an exam coming up this week I need to cram for. All the WNF crew, good luck and have fun.
just a heads up, jeff was actually super good at ST. his o.sagat beat the fuck out of everyone cept for like 2 people. he was the original flow chart player and had an answer to everything you did. not gonna lie, he was my biggest threat back then and if you guys have trouble with my o.sagat, his is 10x worse. tomo never got into the game after quitting at super so i cant say much about his play, but as far as jeff. dude was an absolute machine and didnt take a round off when playing sagat. his zoning was truly top tier and you had to be on your A-game the whole match just to not look stupid. he would throw tigers all game and sooner or later you get chipped to death of die to anti airs. theres no doubt in my mind if you could bring jeffs skills in a time machine, he would place top 3 at every evo with ST in it. his main skill was he could beat any character and never ever lose to a mediocre player. not sure if all this makes sense but i dont really have another way to explain it. he made you play the way he wanted to play the game and dictated almost every match he played.
Sounds like a good sparing partner. I know that some of these guys are “retired” but whats stopping them from coming out for some casuals? Sure would be cool to just kick it with O.Tomo and O.Jeff Watching that video proves that he still loves to play, I mean look at him lol
Anyway I was thinking of updating the SF Hyper fighting cab today. (if it’s ok with Watson) I’ve got a couple brand new Happ IL sticks that need a good home
I think I saw a video of him playing o.sagat against Dhalsim. I think it was some sort of UCLA tourney or something. Dude man-handled the Dhalsim like he was a joke, and I think that should be a bad matchup for Sagat.
So, any chance we could get these other OGs to come down and run some casuals? If anything, it’d be great to see their tactics, and how they handle certain matchups.
Or have Team Mike Vs Team Jeff. Each pick 3 players to coach in a 3 on 3 team tourny. Players will be the WNF regulars. That way, we can get insight from the OG’s and promote new players to get into ST again. That shit would be fucking hype. People aren’t ready.
Holy shit Mike, that’s a pretty sick idea. I’m getting hype just thinking about it. ST community would love that shit too.
Also, with the 25th anniversary of SF, it just feels right to hopefully get some OGs back on the spotlight.
team tourney with coaches would be SO fucking dope.
tbh, people just grew up. i dont even know how i stuck around this long lol, but i can tell you this much. theres more reasons than just being busy that stop me from playing. i just love the game and do what i can to keep it alive.
voltech : if its free, heres the key! not trying to ask for handouts, but if you wanna donate sticks or buttons i would never disagree. btw, can you bring one cherry switch please? i ran out and the xmen sf cab doesnt have a 2p start atm lol.
see you guys here tonight, pz.
