I’m down to drop by on Saturday. I’m in need of serious offline competition, all I’ve been doing since SCR is growing salty on my shitty performance and working on stuff in HDR training mode.
even if it’s classic training mode on hdr, that shit is still junky. me and papercut realized there are serious timing issues. ideally you’d want to train on a cps2 setup, but an emulator is the next best thing i guess. training in hdr will fuck you up more, i can almost guarantee that.
If you training on HDR training mode, that will only help you if you plan on playing HDR tournies. The timing is completely different.

I thought it felt off. I have a bitch of a time trying to do cr.forward xx super with Ryu, whereas I have ZERO problems doing it on the American cabs at Watson’s place. I just use it because it’s the easiest way to get in training mode, plus it encourages my girl to pick up the controller and play me some matches. I guess i’ll try to figure out how to do that training mode GGPO business.
cr.forwardxxsuper doesn’t always work in HDR do to the DP window being changed. You will get a lot of cr.forwardxxDP’s by accident. The game is complete garbage IMO.
That would explain a lot. I was getting SUPER frustrated at my inability to do a basic super cancel. I kept getting cr.forward xx DP, and I KNOW that I’m inputting it correctly. Thanks for that Steve.

DJ - This was just a quick free tourney, so I asked everyone to pick their secondary characters (there were exceptions). Also, I’m trying to figure out a way to reliably record this matches. In due time my friend.
Steve - It just so happens that there was a short film being shot by RedRapper while we were all there, so I asked Wong and Chen, who were there for the film, if they wanted to participate in a cheap 8-man tourney. Coincidentally, Wong was all about playing ST, but he didn’t know about the SCR tournament. He also mentioned that he wanted to concentrate on SFIV and Marvel, but he likes $50 entry with top 8 payout (Season’s Beatings).

I think my gf has an old camera lying around somewhere, I’ll probably just start bringing that out and trying to record the matches. I’ll ATTEMPT to record all of the matches, but I’m not really sure how good the battery life is on that old camera. I know Matt has done an excellent job of recording thus far, but it can’t hurt to have more match videos of our tourney up. Helps grow the scene a bit more.
Btw, from what I hear, WNF doesn’t start until Feb 1st. Is the next tournament then? Or are there any plans to have another tournament on a Wednesday or Saturday before that?
Heh. My inability to do what I want - what I can do in HDR - when I want is why I don’t play ST.
This doesn’t make ST garbage, tho. This just makes me bad at ST.
There are a million reasons why HDR is garbage beyond the one eltrouble and myself pointed out. HDR is dead anyway and never caught on. ST is going strong, hence this thread.
Looks like it will start then. If you guys want to get together on Saturdays for tournaments, I’m more than happy to run them. It’d be nice if we could get more than 8 people though :P.
