Noel/Sanford was awesome.
So… what’s so terrible about making an extremely good character just… God forbid… pretty good? Still confused.
BTW, good shit last night. That was a blast and turned my week around. My Viper, Wolverine, Akuma squad is at least functional now.
There’s no reason for it. He’s potentially the best character in the game, yet he’s not overpowering at all and never makes you feel helpless. Dante is actually an extremely well designed character - he does everything well, but nothing TOO good. He’s exactly what a character that has every tool should be.
Oh, and I’m not necessarily against nerfing him, but after how well Super turned out I’m very much in the “Try not to nerf anything, just make everyone else better” camp. Guilty Gear Accent Core largely did the same thing…and it’s also extremely good. The unstoppableness of Wolverine and Phoenix needs to change for sure, but if they want to give them something else so they’ll still be just as good/top tier (but more easily handled by solid play) then that’s cool.
Side note: If Tokido wins BB that will be…embarrassing.
Oh I am, too. Buffs > Nerfs, but some characters are just completely overshadowed by the awesomeness of some characters, regardless of what you give them. Storm IMO is an example of a character who can improve leaps and bounds by buffs. Hsien-Ko… I mean she can be buffed, but some characters have to be brought down for her to come up.
Hsien-Ko is probably the type of character that can never be really really good without just ignoring her design and giving her ridiculous stuff that doesn’t make sense…HOWEVER she can still be good at doing certain things. Like, she’s already decent against projectile/zone characters…why not just make her CRUSH projectile characters? Haggar is kind of in the same boat. Without just being ridiculous with changes he’ll always get zoned for free, so when someone can’t zone him…he should beat the crap out of them (like with a pipe). It’s a team game, so you can get away with shit like this without making a character obsolete.
Subject change: with Wolverine, when I kill a character, what approach should I take to invalidate the incoming characters options and get them to the ground?
If I get them to the ground successfully, does that give a me mixup opportunity with Tatsu or is there a gap where they can escape? I was trying to figure this out last night while playing Terrence and couldn’t get anything consistent enough to practice at home.
Usually Logan does a super meaty dive kick, call akuma and slash
Only thing you have to watch for doing meaty dive kick is getting air thrown by them as they come in. You can prevent that by doing a meaty fierce plus Akuma on the ground cancelled into a crossup berserker slash ( delay the cancel enough that they don’t autoguard the crossup) , or just meaty slash (kinda hard to time to prevent airdash characters from being able to airdash up and fly to avoid this). If you go the approach mike j mentioned, which I do often, make sure you call Akuma before you super jump then high dive kick, Cuz If Akuma isn’t there to protect your dive kick recovery you get xfactor guard cancel murdered. ( also Akuma provides time to mix them up after you land)
Also, on the Dante topic, yes, Ron saying “then beat me with him” was retarded and irrelevant, I think the point he meant to make (I hope) is that while Dante is godlike, he’s he GOOD kind of godlike. He isn’t braindead 1 move automixup godlike , he takes work and execution to be on that level. I have no problems with him really, it’s just the super easy killer characters like wolv pheonix and some others to a lesser degree.
Evo edit: Justin just showed what I was talking about with wolv Akuma. Did the meaty dive kick but called Akuma before the super jump, pr rog tried to xfactor gc punish and Akuma hit him out.
Wait, is this meaty dive kick happening when right as they land or while they are coming in airborne? I’m confused as to how they can X factor punish when they are still airborne.
Concerning Dante: Use of characters that are slightly below his capabilities (read: other top tiers) would mitigate his efficacy: ultimately he can be hit like everyone else. When I speak of an unbalance, I am looking purely from analytical standpoint. No big though - while I’d like to play enough to be considered solid, I don’t care enough to get to a point to where I can go screaming for buffs/nerfs and have those claims be substantial.
And on that note, seismo chains are kinda hard, which sucks, because I kind of need it
Well they would be in the air for the meaty dive kick if you don’t do it super high, but then you can get thrown easier and still possibly avoided with air dash up/flight/double jump. If you go high enough they can’t do that, sometimes they land before it hits and then could xfactor .
And Ron texted me this(he is racist) but I gotta say, thanks viscant for winning one for the white people! Proof that 30ish white folks can still accomplish something in games haha
Gratz to such a pro level of play in MVC3 at the grand finals (sarcasm).
Pheonix IS retarded, but Viscant is mad good/the man, his wesker clearly has a TON of situational knowledge/setups. No hating on him here!
Ahh okay. I get the gist of it now. Ill have to watch you on Tuesday to make sure I’ve got the right idea in my head. If I can make, can I come through early for a some 1v1s?
Yeah I should probably be able to do that, i’ll hit you up tomorrow once I know for sure.
So many missed bold move cancels, it hurt to watch.
So how about that Viper?
Latif taking out tokido daigo and poongko was legit!
AE top 8 was so hot, im so glad i decided to stay up and watch it!
Oh snap it’s like, new thread time?
Someone wanna do the honors? And post the link to it as post # 1k?
Sure thing, got it covered.
