Sorry I didn’t respond to this earlier; I suck and haven’t been on the boards much lately.
Yeah, people have talked about this… I’m not 100% sure how well it would work out. Last week’s was turnout was awesome from top to bottom, and we finally reached numbers where nobody had to wait all evening. I keep thinking if we cranked it up to every night that population for each event would drop a whole lot, maybe enough to prevent the system from working properly. Now, if we had GGPO-type popularity, it’d be a different story…
I don’t know, sort of interested to see how Damdai’s matchmaking thing goes on the other days. Not sure yet if we have the population to make those work either. :sad:
LOLOL! I just played Jason Cole on GGPO at 2PM PST May 18th! I only won one match out of best of 5… It was fun tho…

GGs to everybody I played tonight. Last week I did pretty bad, and I ended up not playing much this week… looks like the break helped me loosen up a little bit, because I went 7-2 tonight and finally broke into the 1300s.
I think I’m starting to get overly reliant on certain strategies though… oh well, more practice awaits.

good stuff tonight, glad to get back into it after sitting it out last week
the only hitch i had was that i got the “no longer connected to the server” thing after my first match was completed (it still changed my ranking properly though) and the system awarded me one “free” win vs someone once (quickly sorted out and didn’t happen again)
and damn do i gotta learn how to play vs dictator more, geez! not even FLAB RAGE could stop the wrath of a crusher-happy dic and i pulled through some tough matches right before that set, what a bummer dude

Fun stuff tonight, it was my first SS and managed 2 wins and no loses. One person was ranked higher than me and the other lower. I wish I could have gotten more matches in but I couldn’t start till around 9:30 because for some reason when I accepted a challenge the emu would start then immediately close. Turned out all that you have to do is keep challenging me till it works (only takes 3 or 4 times MAX). Not sure why it does this since I have had no problems before SS and none since it ended earlier. Oh well, it didn’t take much away from the experience and I’ll be back next week to kick some more ass =P
So I understand you’re going to keep track of which characters are used, right? This means you could add up all the data and have a pretty accurate matchup chart. I’d love to see that.
Obviously it would be a bit biased due to things like the large number of good Zangief players online, but to be able to put together something like that would be amazing.
Didn’t think I would get to play at all, so that was a pleasant surprise. GGs to Zerodotjander and brian!

Well, that was 7 shades of awesome having that many people around. Look for the length of the event to get extended starting next week. We’re still thinking about the details. Thanks to Damdai for the updates and brian and Little Mac for helping rate the new folks.

Hahaha, for anyone who didn’t hear that story, here’s a quick recap… There was an unrated guy from China just hanging out in the room. I tried to talk to and private message him asking if he spoke English and stuff so he could get a starting rating. (Although I’m not really sure who would be willing to play him… We originally only intended this for North America, after all… 
)
Anyway, he wasn’t responding, so I joked that I was just gonna give him any old random starting number and turn him loose just to see what happened. He promptly challenged me (haha) and although I was too busy to accept, JMS took him on. He played part of one game and quit abruptly, saying “it’s too lag.”

How does one get in on this? Could anyone direct me to a post or FAQ on registering? I play with “Mynameispaullee” all the time (on an even level or slightly higher recently), and was hoping to get some practice against decent players without spending all the gas money…

make an account on 2df then give a shout to raisin or damdai, they’ll arrange to play a couple matches that will be used to gauge you and give you a preliminary ranking

As for your starting rating, since you helpfully gave the info about PaulLee (who’s already well-established with us), I can just “extrapolate” a starting rating for you that will be in the ballpark. So you don’t even have to do an exhibition.
For the port-forwarding question, it depends on what your router model is, or whatever other stuff is potentially blocking the port. You can try the port-forwarding thread for some help.
Oh crap, I got the story wrong? I swear it’s not because I’m a poor listener, but because often during Super Sundays I’m trying to help with multiple things at once and it’s hard to concentrate.
