Super Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition "S" - Now Available!

^^ Darn, that’s not the same as my issue. I look around the tech talk threads for mine. Back to topic.

Well, my current TE just broke (no power when plugged in). I was gonna order the Round 2 but now I’ll probably just wait for this.

You guys should really give MadCatz customer service a call. I modded my SE and was having re-connect issues, but I called them anyways. They sent me a new pcb no questions asked! Great c/s so give it a shot.

Thanks Val, I’ll give it a shot. On a related note to the thread, I am heading to the Fight Club in a couple of hours, I’ll be able to give you guys a review of the new sticks.

They do look great, sure. It’s just that it is still a full Sanwa stick with the Vewlix layout with presumably the same bells and whistles that game with the original TE. I guess for a lot of people there’s not enough “newness” to justify an upgrade from the perfectly solid original run. For me personally it’s not enough of a change for me to take the $150 plunge but should Mad Catz pull a full Seimitsu or…gasp…full Happ/iL out from somewhere then I’d be all over that. But, hey, good to know they aren’t resting on their laurels.

Yeah, that’s what happened to mine too. Like what valkyrie23 said, I called and they just sent me a new PCB. I"m glad they have good customer service or else we’d be shit out of luck.

What kind of problems do you have with yours Chunbelievable?

a quick fix for those buttons goin out was that people would switch out the end of the detachble usb cord with a wired 360 controller n it would be fixed…thankfully my TE has never had ne of these problems

did they say how much will it be

do you guys think this will make the street fighter 4 TE stick price drop?
i am desperately looking for like 100 dollars…and amazon has it but only for the 360 version >_>…

This definitely does not work. The problem is due to static buildup on the metal plates (according to a madcatz service rep) interfering with the PCB. The plated are not properly grounded like I think HRAP plates are

Wait…WTF is the hold up? I thought the cat was going to be let out of the bag today yet I still see teaser pics instead…??

Mark must be busy at the roulette table or is getting it one with some honeys.

They do sell round 1 te’s at Frys for 100 bucks check on the website to see if u got ne near u

Sorry for lack of updates, busy work day today.

BUT, here’s some more info.

Yes, the sides are slim now.

The lock/unlock switch now lock the start & back/select buttons as well.

Different PCB from original TE.

And while we can’t cater to everyone’s hopes and desires, I honestly think this is a nice change of pace from the existing TE stick. It’s slightly different/tweaked, but still the same old goods.

Kinda like Super Street Fighter IV. :stuck_out_tongue:

Is the new PCB there to address the issues with the original TE PCB? And is this for both PS3 and XBox 360 (since I recall it was the 360 PCB that had some issues).

Probably end up getting an R2 on sale at the end of the day for a mod job… I really want an all-white or all-black stick for my mod purposes at this point in time.

These “new designs” don’t look that great. No bevel, maybe a slight case change, but nothing that special.

The white Ken art looks better than the Ryu in my opinion. The art otherwise looks like a character swap – different Shoryu character in front depending on the variant you buy.

I dunno. At the end of the day, if you’re just going to mod a stick, the R1 or R2 TE’s are a better deal IMHO.

If you’re a collector, of course you’re going to buy all these sticks!

People like me might prefer the older style with or without the bevel… This new one is kind of a disappointment. This is kind of reinventing the wheel for fewer or unnecessary improvements IMHO.

What’s with the 4 coloured buttons, is this suddenly a Tekken 6 stick?

The colors represent the same colors you find on a regular 360 controller, blue=x, yellow=y etc etc

I guess it’s hard to improve much from perfection outside of raw aesthetics and minor tweaks. Though, here’s my #1 question as it was the only thing I can say was “wrong” with the TE. Is the wire compartment door sturdier this time around? I’m constantly afraid to open/close mine because it seems like if something is going to break from repeated use, that’s going to be it.

When phrased that way it actually makes a lot of sense. Keep up the good work. Just that in the future, when the Street Fighter license is no longer an issue, I’d love to see more Mad Catz sticks with parts other than Sanwa as well as maybe different layouts other than the Vewlix (despite it being my favorite).

Really cool that Start and Select are now disabled with the Lock/Unlock switch!

Still love my Round 1 TE, but its nice to see a design change in the upcoming sticks!
