If it’s unchanged then i would prefer to go for a Round 2 TE rather than the S.
I read previously that the S TE edition uses a 8 way gate. Can anyone who has the stick confirm this?
And, what kind of gate did the previous round 1 TE and round 2 TE have?

I’ve got a White 360 Tournament Edition S and the gate is a square, but it is 8 way. To my knowledge, they have all been 8 way, but the last two may have had octagonal gates.

As far as I know, they’re all square gates. I have a round 1 and a TE “S”.

Anyone take one of these apart yet? Can you lift the top off to mod it like the round 1 and 2 sticks?
yes, they are pretty much identical to the round 1 stick except for the look
you can even swap out the side panels and the top red “ring” thing from the original TE and basically turn it into a round 1 or 2 stick.
yeah it comes off like a regular te. but theres some double sided sticky tape so you have to pry it a little bit. the wiring is a little cleaner also
Never had any of the Tournament Edition come with Octagon.
All are Square.

8-Way means only going UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, UP-LEFT, UP-RIGHT, DOWN-LEFT, DOWN-RIGHT.

It can also be 4-Way by rotate into Diamond which is also Four Side.
Octagon is Eight Side and is 8-Way.
Circle does not even have any sides, but it is 8-Way.

so I know that there was a change in the PCB from the original TE stick.
Does anyone know what the change is exactly? Is this PCB much better than the older one?

Ordered on Madcatz’s website few weeks ago & during checkout it said, “in stock” & they charged me asap. Took 5 business days to finally ship out & received 3 business days later. Before it was shipped out, I email them as well as called (left a voicemail) yet I never got a response back about shipping status…whatever I guess since it arrived with no issues.
Black ps3 version looks great. Can’t tell any difference with the storage compartment compared to earlier versions (I’ve had both round 1/2 & currently MvC2). I prefer the no-bezel look of this one & haven’t had issues with the top panel edge & my wrist. Mos def feels much sturdier & less hollow than the HRAP3 SA I played back-to-back. I guess the HRAP3 SA’s gonna be for sale soon.
That is good to hear that there is no wrist bothering with it. I am ordering a black 360 one when they go on sale this weekend looking forward to using it.
