Does anyone know if the SSFIV TE “S” fight stick has the same joystick as the OG SFIV TE Stick? I just got my new “S” stick but I haven’t opened it up yet. Playing with a 4 Gate sucks when you play Abel and Viper. If it’s the same, then I am gonna order the 8 Gate right now. Thanks
Yes, I think it’s the same JLF stick. Keep practicing with the square gate. I was an octogate kinda guy but after a lot of playing and practice, I prefer the square gate. I play both charge and shoto characters.
It’s frustrating, I can’t even roll with Abel on command. I tried it in online matches and then I just get killed by Ryu’s and Sagats.
But thanks for the quick response Lefty, already put my order in at Lizard Licks. Hopefully it ships to So Cal in by Tuesday haha
i am currently shopping for a TE stick right now, do you guys think the new Edition S version is worth the extra money over the old version TE sticks?
Whoa, you are mixinluv2u from GS.C!
I watched your Tutorial thing so long ago.
haha yup that’s me. what’s up man.
What exactly is the difference between the 4 and 8 gate versions? How does this affect gameplay? And what exactly does the TE “S” stick ship with standard? Keep in mind, I have been until recently, playing with a MAS controller configured using Happ parts for over twenty years. This new Sanwa-based standard that fighters use these days, is all relatively new for me.
4-Way only moves in four directions; UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT.
8-Way moves in eight directions; UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, UP-LEFT, UP-RIGHT, DOWN-LEFT, DOWN-RIGHT.
Fighting Games are stupid to play with 4-Way.
Impossible to play.
What, only do Sonic Boom or Flash Kick the whole time?
TE S comes with Square set to 8-Way.
Because that is what all Sanwa JLF is default to.
Square DOES NOT mean 4-Way!
It can be both 4-Way and 8-Way.
Thank you for explaining that because it annoys me when people say 4 way gate referring to square…ugh…
anyone have thoughts or advice on my above question?
anyone have thoughts or advice on my above question?
it depends if you think the full plexi , improved pcb and supposedly the cord compartment is built sturdier. if those changes warrant the extra money to you then yeah get the s stick otherwise just get a round 2
The MvC2 sticks have the same problem… I originally thought it was my kids playing with the cord when I wasn’t looking, but then I heard about the PCB problem.
On Topic:
So I’m still trying to think of why this is called “S” or “Slim” it looks just as bulky with different sides and the flat-top. Other than that I might pick it up if it has a nice box…I’m a sucker for awesome box art/design. The one thing I do wish they would add to the stick though is a slant option of somesorts like a Keyboard has but more sturdy.
im supposed to be getting my black ‘s’ stick from amazon tomorrow, but ive yet to see a shipping notice…
360 one? Check the webpage order status. If it hasn’t gone into the “shipping soon” phase or “shipped” it hasn’t actually started to go out. Amazon orders always go into a brief “shipping soon” status before going out. The webpage always shows the latest status, but you might not get timely shipping emails and the estimated dates don’t always give you correct info. I don’t think they have any of these yet. Mine says delivery estimate March 12 and hasn’t entered the shipping process.
i double checked, and it says:
Not yet shipped
Delivery Estimate: March 16, 2010
if it turns out i get it any later than tomorrow i might ask amazon for a refund on my 1 day shipping. (and yes, 360 one)
You still have the option for full custom plexi (etched if you want by Art) with the original TE and Round 2, also the “S” version got rid of the side pieces. I’m not sure if anything has changed with the insides. So its pretty much a TE without the side pieces. I recently bought a Round 2 for PS3 and have an original TE for 360. Didn’t even know there was a new version out until the day after I purchased the Round 2. I still like the older ones better I like the bezel and side pieces. I think it offers more customization.
I thought “S” stand For Super since Super Street Fighter IV is coming out?
I just received my “S” TE! I would say get the new one. The old TE is fine but it is a little wider than this new one. I like the size of this one. I also heard on this thread that the PCB was inproved over the original TE. I don’t know how though. You can buy the new one on sale right now on Amazon.com. Markman also shared a discount code for the new TE’s on his twitter feed. Check on the last page before this one. I think he put up a link.
Thank-you kindly, for the clarification. Not too many people bother explaining these things.
I am quite curious about this because I opened up my TE S last night and it’s still a square gate. I don’t understand how it is set to 8-Way when it’s exactly the same gate that was in my first gen TE stick. And playing with the new TE S still feels the same as the first gen TE with the square gate. Could you please explain this further JDM?
