Super Street Fighter IV AE PC BIG BUG THREAD | Post your AE PC issues here

defrag ur hard drive now and then too, cuz fragmentation is bad mmm’kayy.

After having this happening to me 3 times, 2 the same day and in a really close period of time I decided to upload a simple video and report this “bug”

Im not sure of this being a bug, But this never happend to me on vanilla, the bug would be that, after either losing or winning a match I would recieve the “rage quit penalty” without disconnecting of course and without getting any message from the game, I didnt quitted (Alt+F4)… I just kept playing and saw in the next match that my PPs and BPs were wrong…

I hope this is not only happening to me (cause its SO painfull) and that this gets fixed.

Heres the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXWfh5w_170

He means muting the MUSIC, not all audio.

You weren’t kidding. Went from about 115 fps to about 180 fps. It was already playable, though

Yeah, I probably should have said it makes a MASSIVE difference

In my case the frame rate went from 150fps to 230fps after forcing AA with drivers instead.

Would be useful to everyone that has speed problems using the higher AA settings.

all the music is in
super street fighter iv - arcade edition\resource\battle\sound\bgm
you can’t just delete them
but you can take a csb file from the narration folder, copy it a bunch of times and rename it to all the bgm files

That will mute the music or replace the music with narration? How does this work exactly?

it just mutes the music, doesn’t replace it with anything. The game will crash if it can’t find BGM_BRA.csb but if you have a csb file named BGM_BRA.csb but it’s not a music file it won’t play anything.

Even after completely formatting and reinstalling XP, and having nothing but the OS, Steam, and SSFIV:AE installed, the problem persists. Here’s a video of the bug in action. The game just dies after a few minutes of play (if it even works to begin with):

So you could really just create a text document and rename it to BGM_BRA.csb for the same result?

no idea, give it a try

Quick question.

I have the Steam version of SSF4 AE PC. I want to get the alt DLC costumes, but I don’t want to get them through the Steam store as I have a bunch of Microsoft points that I got as a gift a few days ago.

Would I be able to purchase the DLCs for the costumes via the Games for Windows Live Marketplace, or do those DLCs only work with the store-bought/retail bought copy of the game? Will the marketplace prevent you from buying them if it sees you only have the Steam version of the game? I want to test this out but don’t want to risk wasting my points in the process to do so.

Has anyone ever tried using 2 sticks on the PC version? My friend has a laptop and the TE only seems to work in the USB 3.0 port, which there is only has one of. If we plug it in any other port, windows will detect a PC controller, but when we go into the “controllers and devices” menu to test the buttons, nothing will light up. Now we dont have any way to play 2 players-offline on the laptop. I have also tried attaching a USB HUB to the port that works, but it doesnt give enough power to the second stick.

Equipment
-Asus G53SW Laptop
-2 Madcatz TE

It’s seems this problem got worse after the last patch. A friend who I played with before the patch without problem, can’t join my game or I can’t join his games anymore :(.

Did that work out for you?

 I forgot all about that until now.

Just tested though and creating a text file and renaming it to BGM_BRA.csb causes the game to lock up on the Vs screen if the the stage chosen is Inland Jungle (Daytime Version).

First, I’m Japanese, So I’m not good at writting English.
I am sorry if my English is hard to understand. Please ask if you would like me to explain something again.

I have two problems and two questions.

First problem caused in install process.

 1. Insert disk
 2. Open DVD drive
 3. Double click the “Setup.exe”
 4. Open Installer and installer approaches to selection “Quick Install”, “Custom Install” or “exit”.
 5. When I choose “Quick Install” or “Custom Install”, then the message “Install failure” appeared and error code “0x800b010a” was shown.

Because of this error, I searched solution and finally I install from “Game.msi” in disk.
So first question is “Is it good that install ssf4AE from [Game.msi]?”.
After a fashion, I could install ssf4AE by this way. If this way doesn’t include problem, skipping to next problem.

Second problem caused after starting ssf4AE.
I’ll explain the timing when problem caused.

First I double-click the ssf4 icon, start the game, and “CAPCOM” logo appears.
Next “NVIDIA” logo appears, and similarly logos appear.
And next, SSF4’s opening movie starts. At this time, if I click “Enter”, menu screen should appears, but on my PC, black out and battle demonstration(for example, Ken VS Chunli…) started. And click “enter” once more, only shift battle demonstration(for example, Guy VS Hawk…), never switch to menu screen.
So second question is, “How to shift to menu screen? and why such problem caused?”

Please reply to my question! X(

First off, disable anti aliasing, at that sort of resolution and given the nature of SF4s artstyle and general graphics systems you will not see almost any difference between 8x and 0x AA in terms of visual fidelity. However it will absolutely destroy the quality of your average FPS (which should be around 75-85FPS minimum to assure a buffer zone of fps quality in case of things like the system accessing a file in the background or any sort of hiccup.

A friend of mine in whom has an absolutely monster rig (He can get over 100FPS average on benchmark with everything maxed, 1920x1080 resolution with C16xQ MSAA level) chooses to run the game with AA off because he doesn’t see any noticeable difference.

2nd off, when the game starts chugging open up your task manager and check the processes to see if anything is suddenly using an unusual amount of the CPU load.

Make sure that your drivers aren’t attempting to force AA via hardware, or pre-render frames.

So I’m really excited because I just bought the game but have no way of controlling besides keyboard. I tried looking around to see which pads and sticks people recommend to use with PC and that work well with SSFIVAE, but I couldn’t really find any good info. I play on both stick and pad, but am leaning more towards a pad for PC version. What do you guys recommend?

I personally use my TvC stick hooked up to a mayflash box. No real reason not to use a stick unless you prefer a pad.

I use Xbox 360 fightpads from MadCatz, and I am really happy with those and they work right out of the box (as any other Xbox 360 controller with GFWL titles I guess)
