I use PS2 pads via USB adapter and 360 Controller Emu with the mod I made in my sig.
Later this year I will be getting a PS3 TE stick, I haven’t used a stick at home since I started playing SF2T on SNES 20 or so years ago. (Only exception being playing a little 3rd Strike/SF4 Vanilla at the local arcade.)
My pad skillz are far greater then my Stick skillz, but I hope to change that shortly after getting my stick
a lot of peoples keyboards ( mine included ) didn’t work with prepatch ssf4AE. The update should automatically download when you start the game I think.
Thanks for the feedback. I don’t really care if I can run with a high level of AA, I meant merely to illustrate that my computer is capable of running SSFIV:AE well when the game decides to work. When the game doesn’t work (the vast majority of the time), I can’t run the game at a playable framerate using even the absolute minimum settings.
The framerate varies rapidly between low (<10 fps) and high (>100 fps). FRAPS gives a more consistent framerate of around 15 fps. I think the benchmark tool overestimates the effective framerate by averaging the high and low and coming out with 24 fps when 15 fps is more accurate.
I checked the task manager, and nothing other than SF4 had more than 1 or 2 % CPU utilization. I’ve formatted twice, and there’s really not much other than Windows, Steam, and SSFIV:AE running. I can confirm the video drivers aren’t doing anything out of the ordinary for this game. I’ve tried multiple versions of NVIDIA drivers and they all exhibit the same problem with SSFIV:AE.
The problem is specific to SSFIV:AE (does not occur when running SF4), and seems to be independent of graphical settings.
PS3 SF4 TE stick works like a charm as long as you don’t have an nForce-based board (nForce based boards such as the 750, 780, and the 790 has a faulty onboard USB controller that fails to properly recognize the PS3 TE stick). If you have no fucking idea what I just said, just disregard.
lie-Kyo, I had to look up what an n-based board was, and I have no idea what kind of board I have. lol
Thanks so much for your opinions! I was at a game store the other day and, on impulse, purchased a 360 pad. Probably not the wisest choice, but it’s working just fine. Now my main concern is that I can’t escape the lag! If you’ve had the pleasure of playing me yet, you’ll have experienced it! I get clocked at around 100 FPS with my graphics settings fiddled with. I just did a speed test and I got 7mbps down/.95 up/20 ping. My download speed fluctuates anywhere from 4 to 14. Upload and ping stay relatively the same.
I should also mention that my connection is wireless, and I’m receiving my Netgear WNDR3400 signal from about 100-150 ft. away, and it’s coming from another building, so there are some walls in the way. Right now, my signal strength is fair, but ranges anywhere from fair to good (and excellent on a rare occasion). Could I be experiencing lag because i’m receiving a signal from far away? Would using a repeater help to strengthen my signal? Or do I have other options? Like forwarding ports or something?
Hello there.
Theres a problem with the game where it doesn’t recognises some keyboards. This has been fixed with a patch.
Press the “home” key to acess the “games for windows live” Login and wait for the patch to download.
hey im having a problem. I bought the game about a month ago and it has been perfectly fine until recently. I took a small break but now when i play it just glitches or it seems more like random lag spikes when i play. (this is even when i play in training mode). Does anyone know what is causing this? If it glitches/lag spikes or w/e in training mode playing with others online would only be worse (and is worse).
Hi srk, when i try to install this it gives me error code: 0x800b0100 and i have no idea what this means and google searches comes up with nothing related to AE. does anyone kno what this means? Also i have the digital version from Amazon.
hey guys i’m studying abroad in japan and i’m trying to play online but my region is still set to usa? is there anyway i can change my region to japan so that i can get matched with players here as opposed to finding no matches because i’m looking for american players?
edit: nvm i got it to work even though my region is america i can find player by switching the filter to ALL. it’s just weird though because my flag is america and everyone else has a japanese one.
ooook… who will explain to me how it is possible that with the SAME graphic options (to the max with AA 4x) vanilla version (sf4) has more “soft” (better!) shadows!!!
to your problem. the only reason i can see why ur game would slow right is either u have some sort of adware, spyware or installed a whole bunch of other programs that could be hogging ur memory, run malwarebytes and turn off some programs maybe
^ your welcome. alright ill go run some now. I’ve always wanted to play this game in window mode (i used to do it all the time for sf4 PC) but when i try with AE it gets laggy or somethin. i dunno maybe my resolution is off or i gotta mess with it but i just play full screen f*** it lol.
so my problem is still there. I used spybot search and destroy + AVG and it found nothing. I even uninstalled/reinstalled the game and it still lag spikes (even when i play offline) but when i play other games like HoN or something its fine. wtf!!! :’(
Mine does that too, I think the game is just optimized for full screen mode, I would like to play in a window too, but it just doesnt run the same and I get the same lag if I do.
Edit: - if its happening in full screen mode, I would try drefragging ur hard drive or running the program in XP compatability mode(if you are 7/vista)
