I wanted to try to think of a title for the thread that draws parallels between Villager and his axe and The Shining but I’m having difficulty. ‘HEEEEEEEEEERRE’S VILLLAGER!!’ doesn’t seem to quite convey it.
Sakurai himself still has the same outlook on the core gameplay of Smash Brothers. However, the biggest positive difference from Brawl’s development is that he is asking others (including those from Namco) to help with the balancing of characters. That alone means it will probably be better competitively. Maybe not Melee level, but better than Brawl for sure.
(Note: I think Brawl was more FUN than Melee, but I admit it was far worse on a competitive level)
Sakurai on Mega Man: “Maintaining his NES look was top priority.” and “I didn’t just want any 3rd party characters in Smash, but Mega Man is special.”
You damn right, you ingenious little man you… Sonic and Pit got a new lease on life from being in Smash-- Maybe, just maybe this is the beginning of a Nintendo-produced Mega Man title…
It’s like when Square Enix essentially washed their hands of DQ when they decided they wanted nothing to do with DQ9 and onwards. It’s virtually a Nintendo property now. Maybe the same thing will happen with Mega Man.
