Pit wasn’t so popular but he had 2 games, and a 3rd coming soon they wanted to hype. Actually that is why they went with Ice Climbers, they planned Baloon Fighter, Clu Clu, Mach Rider and maybe more (but I’m way too lazy to look it up) for the same purpose but from a gameplay perspective only the Ice Climbers made the cut.
Other guy covered WFT for me, though she is anything but interesting gameplay wise. She’ll be funny though.
Lucas was supposed to be in Melee instead of Ness to promote Mother 3. And Roy+Marth were meant to hype the new generation of Fire Emblem. Evin Pikmin, i think custom robo and Animal Crossing were melee trophies for titles not yet released.
The Wii Fit trainer is likely a large umbrella for the entire ‘Wii insert noun’ series of games. Sports, Fit…Music. Not unless the Mii is added in will I say otherwise.
Waluigi isn’t going to be in. Dude is almost exclusively in Mario spin-offs. Anything he’s in, Mario represents better. Nor is he as iconic as Peach or Bowser to be included. Rosalina for Galaxy, Wario for Warioware, Yoshi for Yoshi’s island, DK for DK series. Each has their own successful series to fall back on.
Shouldn’t most people know that smash characters are actions figures/dolls/trophies turn to life when thrown by a kid? Please watch melee opening again
‘All-star’ is subjective and not an adequate reason for inclusion, what with being an abstract and all. Nintendo probably wants to honor what it thinks it’s successes were + having the main character be a interesting fighter, or something like that.
I mean, come one, ROB? Who wanted ROB? Sure people who liked PLAYING as ROB were cool with it, and the idea itself was kind of cool, but the actual amount of people who wanted ROB as a character are probably non-existent.
When it comes to Nintendo and only Nintendo the case could be made for any leading character of a franchise. Even the small ones.
But ROB represents an entire era of gimmicky hardware that looked cool and did nothing. Jokes aside, ROB matters to Nintendo, Waluigi is just Wario’s tennis partner.
I think he’s funny and all but there’s a certain pedigree. I mean it’s been 2 games with Mario Luigi Peach and Bowser as the only pure Mario reps. And that was for freaking Mario ya know? There’s clearly a standard.
Eh I don’t think so. If that where the case then I don’t think Game and Watch would have made it. I think them being able to do something interesting with them comes first and foremost. No one gives a shit about Game and Watch.
“No one gives a shit about” is typically a shitty argument. Mr. Game & Watch is not only a reference to Nintendo’s LCD games from way back when he’s also a tribute to the guy who made the Game Boy.
