Half and half. But this is like the Cartoon Network spin-off where Knuckles looks like a fat guy and and Sonic dresses like Nathan Drake. They just turned Team Sonic into generic American cartoon arch types and added Amy as “generic strong female character”.
I doubt Sakurai even knows it exists let alone giving it space in his game.
If there’s a character that needs a black VA, it’s King Dedede AND IT BETTER BE THE ONE FROM KIRBY: RIGHT BACK AT YA

It really isn’t. The justifications range from “I don’t like that a dude what punches shit has a big upper body” to “I don’t like that Sonic has longer legs.”
But the Sonic thread may be the better place to discuss this.
As far as “defining”, I’d say the invincible theme from the original games is what I most associate with Sonic.
However, as far as game themes go, it’s a close call between “Sonic Boom”* and “Live and Learn”, with honorable mention to “Open Your Heart”.
*For the record, I’m referring to the main theme of Sonic CD, not the latest incarnation.
Vocal themes that I’d probably pick to represent Sonic are Live and Learn, Open Your Heart, It Doesn’t Matter (SA1 version), and What I’m Made Of…
Non vocal would easily be Green Hill Zone. Honorable mention being Spring Yard Zone and for some reason Green Forest from SA2. I don’t ask me why (I don’t need a reason) Green Forest as the only thing I can think of is the fact that the fast pace rifts of the track seem to work well with his running.
Here’s something I want to throw out there too. If you guys had to pick 10 tracks to put in this game for Megaman that were either just the plain source or a remix of it…what would you pick? And you get access to the entire library of Megaman not just OG.
I could pick so much more than 10, but if I have to pare it down, I’d probably pick these 10, with some minor alterations:
Mega Man II Main Theme (already in, but it deserves mention)
Mega Man II Wily’s Castle 1 (also already in)
Whistle Concert (Protoman’s Theme)
Crash Man (MM2)
Shadow Man (MM3)
Dust Man (MM4)
Zero Themes Remix
Storm Eagle (MMX)
Magna Centipede (MMX2)
VS Vile (MMX8)
Let’s see… being limited to ten tracks sucks, because the Mega Man Franchise is chock full of awesome tracks. Since Wily Castle 1(MM2) and Mega Man II Title Theme are already in my list will omit them…
Bubble Man (MM2)
Shadow Man (MM3)
Tornado Man (MM9)
Boss Theme Medley (Classic Series)
Skull Man (MM4)
Tomahawk Man (MM6)
Central Highway (MMX)
Spark Mandrill (MMX)
Dr. Cossack Castle 2 (MM4)
Galaxy Man (MM9)
Honorable mentions to Wood Man (MM2), Snake Man (MM3), Flash Man (MM2), Zero Theme 1 (MMX), Sigma Final Battle (MMX), Wily Machine (MM9), Nitro Man (MM10), Shade Man (MM7), and Splash Woman (MM9)
Cutman theme is a shoe-in. I think they should stick to classic Megaman series music. But if they do venture out of it, please do Doppler’s stage 1 theme justice
I wouldn’t be surprised if they only used songs from the classic series but it’d be nice if they at least branched out and touched on X musically. We have a rare opportunity to possibly hear some arrangements/reinterpretations of themes from some well known vg music artists and that’s IF Capcom doesn’t go lazy with it like Sega did with Sonic in Brawl. Of course this is also assuming that Sakurai is pulling out all the stops like he did with Brawl for the OST. It would be quite interesting if the likes of Nobuo Uematsu, Yuzo Koshiro, Yoko Shimomura, or Koji Kondo were able to put their hands on one of the tracks. I don’t think anybody’s ears would be ready.
