Nice try, but I’m already up and put the ahole on mute.
Does this mean you’d just as soon we not show up at your house at 3 in the morning, with the Dragnet Orchestra right behind us?
I wouldn’t mind. Can’t promise my neighbor won’t pull out his shotty and tell you fuckers to get the fuck out*
Spoiler
*Which means calling the cops and having you escorted from the neighborhood
Starting out with the Shulk it seems
And there we have it. Shulk officially announced.
Totally going to use the underwear alternate.
I liked Bravely Default, but the fuck is it doing in mah Smash Direct? I was under the impression this was a Smash Direct, not a 3DS direct

That Final Fantasy Explorers is looking interesting…
Missed the Shulk reveal.
This is a 3DS Direct, not just Smash. It was never declared to be one in the original tweet, I double-checked that.
Running notes on broadcast so far.
Shulk confirmed with video, he got a trailer against Bowser. A wilderness location (a mix of cliffs, grassy plains, etc.) was used, appears to be a location from Xenoblade (I saw a giant skeleton, dinosaur-like, in the background).
Iwata started the broadcast with his usual mix of politeness and warmth. I love his “Chokusets’!” (or something like that) shout followed by that silly hand-gesture of his.
Bravely Default is getting a sequel, Bravely Second. The woman speaking in-character during the trailer spoke of a ‘new world’ (“atarashi sekai”) but I could not quite follow where she was going with that thought.
Final Fantasy Explorers. Looks very vaguely like Monster Hunter meets Final Fantasy, with command-based fighting. Phantasy Star Online might be a better comparison. Please note I have never played Monster Hunter, that remark is based on watching others play it. Hey Po, Cloud is back! Get excited! (Or start cussing). Dec. 18 2014 release in Japan. No word yet on US release.

Well, at least I got a true confirmation on another sword character to beat Po with.
Shulk KO-ing C. Falcon there is the ultimate foreshadowing.
Iwata also mentions updates to the 3DS Home Menu (‘Main Menu’ to us), which will offer things like navigating the menu in Mario NES style, or Zelda art theme style. I… think he said this is going to be a new product on the eShop, and he politely hopes we will please check it out. Do not quote me on that, I am not sure if it will cost anything or not and I am mostly doing this for translation practice.
…A new 3DS model? Colored buttons too, which he gushes about being a nod to the Super Famicom (Japanese version of the Super Nintendo). They call it the New Nintendo 3DS LL and New Nintendo 3DS. Yes, “New” is in the product name. He seems very pleased by the dimensions on the new system. These systems have a mini-stick built in that he claims is akin to a C-stick. I don’t see how it has the range of articulation needed for that but it must be true if he’s blatantly claiming it on-camera. As of time of translation, I personally have no clue whether Smash 4 would use this; Iwata hasn’t commented on that one way or another just yet (7:20 AM EST of 8-29-2014).
The new C-Stick will work with Smash 4, among other games (Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest X, etc.) if I heard Iwata right. (Might not have. Again, my Japanese is basic)
Aaaaand now I need that new 3DS XL…
Would love if they book ended this with Junior
Translation done very quickly by a beginner at the language (me). May have errors.
Iwata’s being slightly smug about the system design and the forethought put into it, I caught him making a few “of course it has…” remarks about some hardware performance/features. He mentions SDHC (Edit: Or did he say SDXC?) and Micro SDHC (again, might have been SDXC? Unsure) will be supported, in a little pack behind the battery panel (which has been redesigned to also store another stylus).
Remember that Amiibo adapter? The New 3DS won’t need it, it has NFC gear included.
New 3DS can communicate with PCs via an access point (e.g. wi-fi hotspots, your wireless router , etc.)… didn’t catch the details of what this allows because I fell behind on translating. He also mentions updates to the browser, supporting HTML 5 video better. They showed off a video of a guy holding up the game box for a retail-boxed NES Remix 1+2 combo pack (“Famicom Remix” over there).
And yes, the official character art does match-up to the leak.

I know that but I assume this one will be in english.
EDIT: And I was right. Edited above post accordingly.
New 3DS is releasing In Japan around October 11, 2014. Cost will be roughly $160-$180 (converted from Yen to USD). They’re offering some new charging stands for them too, costing $10-ish. There will be a Monster Hunter 4G New 3DS available on Oct. 11 2014 costing about $250 (that includes a copy of the game). A Smash 3DS will be releasing Nov. 2014, but he did not provide details. Edit 2: The above should not be interpreted as “some or all of this is Japan-only.” It only means Iwata was only addressing a Japanese audience. Expect other branches of Nintendo to make their own announcements on all this soon.
New 3DS supports swappable cover panels, both top and bottom, for personalizing your system’s outward appearance. Plates will cost approx. $10 (converted from Yen) for a set of 1 top plate and 1 bottom plate, usually of a matching theme. Iwata mentions new designs will be revealed over time.
Edit: Broadcast is over.
