Rosalina looks like a weird amalgam of Olimar and Ice Climbers. Definitely an interesting design, and in that sense I like her.
I’m not against Rosalina in general, but the fact that we’re still probably only getting around 35 characters makes me think “Did we REALLY need another Mario representative?”
When you become the mascot of a worldwide company, become more recognizable than Mickey Mouse, and have starred in as many successful hits as Mario, you tend to get a little more shine in these crossover titles… If franchise sales are anything to go by, Pokemon doesn’t have enough reps, and Star Fox should only have Fox as a rep.

Not like I would know, but I’m guessing that when they decide on who to add, they first determine what they want the character to do, i.e. flesh out the playstyle. Then, once that’s done, they go to their vault of characters and determine which character would best suit that playstyle. If what I’m guessing is correct, then I’d rather have the representation be lopsided rather than have them add characters “just because.” That’s how we got clone characters in the other games. I don’t care if Rosalina’s from the Mario universe, I care that she’s new to Smash and has a unique style.
