that is true and though he is from a similar franchise look at ike… alot about him is different from marth/roy with no current idea if marth/roy will return… so ike and lucas can be replacements not clones… i truly hope not… but we don’t know yet
then again he can have a completely different set of moves making him a new character all toghter… more like mario and lugi… and not like mario and dr mario…

I’m pretty sure Ness will still be in on the account that it has been established that the original characters should be returning…the only thing that made my faith wane in that a bit is the picture on the bottom left…it looks JUST like Ness’ forward A in the air except he’s using one hand
Fire Emblem badguy candidate: Black knight from Path of Radiance or the main evil bad guy from the first one that came over her on the GBA. Those are my 2 suggestions although Black knight i could imagine would be a super heavyweight and would imagine would be some type of a bitch to fight. But I’d imagine you just have to knock him barely a good ways from the platform and gravity will kick in.
As for gameplay vids…We have seen some gameplay especially in the second trailer that showed fox and that small snippet from e3. The problem there is that the gameplay footage doesn’t tell you anything that most of us are probably looking for in particular (i.e. wave dashing, l-cancel, etc)
:(…i really wish they would but the GBA line is technically dead…so the chance of mother 3 coming over here has been slimmed down even further unless Nintendo just decides to go ‘hmmmm…let’s just randomly put it on VC’ then i’d imagine people would be asking for other gba games on the vc and blah blah blah. Probably wouldn’t be a bad idea on nintendo’s part but i doubt they’d do it. Mother still has a possibility though if Nintendo actually puts forth the effort to translate and what not…I don’t wanna hear any excuses from them saying they can’t bring it over because of translation bs cause people who aren’t big companies have been able to get into the codes of games and translate them themselves on the emulators (like that dbz card rpg game for the snes)

There is a fan translation of Mother 3 in the works that’s a good bit along, so even if it never comes officially Mother 3 will be playable in english.
From what I played of it, it was different, lol, best way to explain it. It really only gave slight vibes of Earthbound, as everything else felt different. (Having an adults in your party can make the game feel different too.)

Even though the inclusion of Lucas gives some more hope for Mother 3 coming to the US, at the same time it worries me that Ness won’t return, despite what was said about the originals returning. Ness has always been my main, and even if Lucas is better, he doesn’t hold the same special meaning to me simply because I’ve never played Mother 3. Here’s hoping that they’re both in - I’m sure the movesets can be diversified enough.
Rejoice, there’s a fan translation in the works, and they are aiming for a release sometime this fall/winter (before Brawl drops).
Also, they already released the Menu Translation, so it’s at least playable, right now.

Personally, I’d rather see Lucas/Ike replace Ness/Marth than have them be completely different characters. That way I can have more hope for tha characters I really want, like Olimar and Little Mac.

Yeah i’m being serious…And looking at it does have similarities to look like the pk shield…if that was the case then he can only absorb shots in the front while ness’ was all around his body…I didn’t think they’d do that. Plus I don’t think that it’s really that big i think it’s the way the shot was taken and the placement of the camera that makes it look that way.
Like i said i’m all for the idea of nintendo doing that…especially since they themselves have stopped making games for the gba. However there’s still the matter of the DS that plays GBA games…I don’t think they want to hurt the retailers that are still selling the games but eh…i wouldn’t expect them to put them out on vc until at least maybe gamestop decides they aren’t taking them in for trade anymore and they’re trying to get rid of them. Me personally…i think they would at least put up Gameboy games first since those are steadily becoming harder and harder to find and then work up from there.

There’s no excuse to NOT have a sizable roster without relying on the use of clones. Cloning just cheapens a character, no matter how novel the “tweaks” are.
