The selection criteria isn’t solely based on meritocracy either, it plays a part but isn’t the only thing thy take into account. I remember a previous GDQ had a group of scrubs doing a team L4D run. Was no different to a lets play, and I wonder if they only reason they got in was because there was a girl in the group.

Cool Spot on Genesis was a pretty good game for being based on a soda mascot.
IIRC the game was created by the people who made Earthworm Jim. So the animation quality and music were understandably great.
