Street FighterxTekken ver. 2013 (The free edition)

I actually go Full Tekken and will continue to do so I’m a huge SF fan but I love the uniqueness of the Tekken side, the SF cast bores me to death for the exception of the non AE Characters and even they became stale fast.

Have you forgotten about AE 2011? You think SFxT has the player base or popularity to survive an “AE 2011”?

I agree with this. This is the make it or break it patch. If this doesn’t at least somewhat appease to the masses ( monstrous of a task as that is already with the stigma surrounding the game ) then there most likely won’t be another chance to do so.

By the time December rolls around, it’ll have been half a year since Ayano took over, right? Hopefully they got things ironed out and tested in that time. I don’t expect this patch to change the minds of everyone, so hopefully at least they don’t wreck the game in this hail mary patch. I’m still curious to see the extended patch notes on the system mechanics so that I can better take into account the character changes.

Either way, i’m open and accepting of the future changes. I’m curious and excited for the games’ future.

I feel like this patch is it. If it stinks then all they can do is revert back to vanilla, as people will either accept or reject the game at this point. If it doesn’t increase sales and support then Capcom will have zero financial incentive to balance it beyond 2013. This game doesn’t have the support to survive something like “AE 2011,” as was alluded to in a different post.

I still don’t even know why AE 2011 even happened. What was the point of releasing a patch with characters you knew were broken? I don’t get what they were trying to achieve with that patch. Whatever, in my mind I’m already pushing everything aside and waiting for SF5.

Maybe because Super actually sucked ass? Not just examining the characters with hindsight. We talk about stupidly strong characters on the level of the twins, and tons of 7-3s even among ‘high-tier’ characters. AE condensed tiers better than Super. And two strong characters people want to play are better than 8/10 added being mediocre or worse and essentially irrelevant.
AE had bad decisions as well(never seen an update without them), but people who think Super had ‘much better balance’ make me wonder what fucking game they played. Thank god the updates happened, cause I would be disgusted with Super.
Lots of people bitching and whinging does not make opinions right.
Whether SFXT 2013 will be better or worse, dunno, since we have only seen half the cast done and no idea how the overall mechanics, pace and match-ups will go.
One thing is for certain, the game should NOT stay as it is.

The reason why people are worried is because…Well… It’s Capcom that’s balancing the game. For every good balance decision there’s usually 10 bad ones.

I feel(And I enjoy this game alot, as well as I enjoyed AE2011 despite the hate and the flaws) That this game got it's AE2011 out of the way early lol, but atleast Im willing to wait and see and not jump the gun and cry about it, if it sucks when it is released then so be it. But we havent had any location tests or anything to go on except "Hey look a ton of nerfs and slight buffs" it may end up being better for it you never know you don't even have the full canvas to look at yet. I know alot of people are down on Capcom now but I still believe in them especially when they are legitimately trying to fix the game which is what they did with AE2012. In AE2011 the rebalance failed them but they weren't trying to legitimately fix anything I guess they were just trying something out, In my opinion the only thing that was wrong with that game anyway was the Twin powah and I eventually did well in those matchups before they got nerfed.

But hey it ain’t no fun not complaining on a message board so have fun

It’s weird that the list is almost universal nerfs (specifically to meter). I like the Abel buffs, and he should definitely move up in rank, but it remains to be seen if he’s top tier now. The armor on normal tackles sound insane though.

I actually think characters like Hworang, who are great at extended frame traps, will go up in rank because they will be able to build meter more effectively through block strings than characters who build meter via a combination of block strings and whiffing moves (which was already super slow to begin with).

I also want to address a chun li player who was upset at her changes. True, s. hk will be missed, but honestly it wasn’t a huge part of the game and Chun Li is actually stronger in some ways because of how the game was changed. First, she still appears to have her 3f c. lk, whereas Cody and other characters have lost theirs and/or gotten slower normals overall. This is significant because it opens up more lightning legs shenanigans. Lk and mk versions are only -1 on block. Her 3 frame c. lk may allow her to frame trap slower characters and continue into another lightning legs or mighty spinning crotch split overhead attack. If she actually gets a strong extended frame trap involving lightning legs, she might become an even better battery character.

Im not as down on them as you are. But hey if thats how ya feel… IMO Capcom does a better job at balancing than some of these other companies putting out fighters. Thats why their games are always the most popular(DESPITE SUPPOSEDLY BEING SO BROKEN). I believe(And this is not aimed at you because I don’t know your gripes) but I feel alot of the backlash at this game and especially these patch notes are subconciously tied to the butthurt about the DLC scandal. I was butthurt as well but I got over it, and am hoping for the best for this game, and if these huge changes end up making this a better game I’m all for it. But in the end …we have to atleast wait for the rest of the changes before stoning Capcom, I know thats not entertaining on a message board but thats the stance I’m personally taking.

People will have the same reaction as your avatar.
Long as they leave Nina alone then I’m good, actually no…give her BUFFS! MORE DAMAGE! MORE INVINCIBILITY ON EX GEYSER! MORE! MORE! MOOOOOORE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!:badboy:

I dunno guys, although I’m anxious to see what changes. I also think that Capcom operates backwards.

I mean look at that. Why would you release character changes before system changes? At least we would get a better idea of the game’s projection, instead of whining about fair/unfair nerfs.

Also lol at someone requesting to nerf AC tag cancel…

The general consensus is that Super was balanced. I don’t have an opinion on whether that is true or false. Bitching and whining–or as I like to call it, constructive and necessary criticism–is actually quite essential to making change. There’s no change if only acquiescence is present. I have a negative perspective of this upcoming patch for a few reasons:

  1. Characters are becoming less unique: Rolento without the rekka; Rufus with a crappy divekick; Raven with a useless shuriken; and so forth. When character’s tools are weakened they start to rely on a universal way of getting in. That way is jumping with roundhouse.
  2. The whole point of Street Fighter x Tekken is to introduce Tekken characters into the SF world. That means a mix of zoning and rushdown. Capcom suddenly wants to make the game pure rushdown. Such a game will be releasing in 2014, its called Tekken x Street Fighter.

I don’t even think Capcom knows what it wants. And I still wonder who they’re catering to these days? Where have they gotten all these ideas?

EDIT: For me, I would have been fine with a Street Fighter with Tekken characters in it. Meaning no chains, rolls, or other mechanics that are usually not present in SF games.

I honestly think that the more broken or imbalanced the game is, the more fun it is to watch/play…well up to a certain extent. If a new competitve game comes out (Not limited to fighting games) that was completely balanced, (meaning every character in the game is as good as everyone else) I don’t think anyone would play it past the first couple of weeks.

so IMO Capcom does a better job at releasing broken games than some of these other companies putting out fighters. Thats why their games are always the most popular(DESPITE BEING SO BROKEN)

Chaos and randomness is what keeps things interesting.

Enjoy your reign while it lasts Lili army, the Asuka army will be the new supreme ruler.

Mwhaaaaa

Wow… took a break from the game and just saw the posted changes for the SF cast… and I learned a very important lesson: Don’t cry about other characters needing nerfs - because Capcom will nerf errbody! (Although f*ck you Gief and Cody! You deserved them! j/k).

I officially petition that this thread name be changed to: Street Fighter X Tekken ver. 2013 (The Nerf Bat Edition)

Wow, half of the people in this thread need to grow the fuck up.

Get yourselves off the nipple, start standing up to piss, and for the love of all things stop fucking crying.

I love SRK angry man posts.

yeah he is so cheap and top tier at his current state? Right? lol Come on man! He is where he needs to be as a character right now. I think nerfing him just like in SFIV is a way to cater to the people who don’t wanna step up and deal with him.

Nerfing and more nerfing is nothing exciting. It makes for some dull characters unfortunately. If people spent more time learning how to deal with arguably the most well rounded character in the game instead of hating, they will beat him.

I just think if you get outplayed by a good Ryu player it kinda hurts your ego cause he has no gimmicks no tools and people just want to make excuses that his well-roundness is “too strooonk” lol

LOL, not angry… But, maybe OLD and CRABBY.

I guess, I just hate crybabies…

So, I’m still gonna be using Sakura but I do not understand any of her nerfs. Hopefully they leave Nina alone, but I doubt that. I think she is the strongest female character in the game. Her normals aren’t as good as some of the others, but she does too much damage in my opinion.

Akuma’s runaway got nerfed, but I never really ran anyhow. Just gotta play better on the ground.

The only complaint I have so far is the "improved anti airs."
I will agree that some of the Tekken characters really needed better anti airs cough Law cough, but some of the SF cast need buffs to the AA game. Why is my DP with Akuma and Sagat trading when I do it super deep (granted I get big damage for this because I found some really damaging combos to hit confirm into after a trade dp)? The whole point of a dp is to stop someone from jumping, I still eat that 120 or whatever damage it is from their jump in because I attempted to anti air it.
