mine. I left out a character I never played (Bob) and threw the PS3 exclusives to the side
This tier list creation tool is missing Ogre.
Seems like Ogre ran off.
Edit:
Ugh, this is what I get for going afk mid-message.
Might as well join the bandwagon - my pov
Top 10 is something like this (not my final order):
Chun-Li
Kazuya
Ryu
Rufus
Juri
Jin
Zangief
Guile
Nina
Julia
Maybe? I’d say next up are characters like Rolento, Sagat, Heihachi, Raven, and so forth.
Why everyone got Hwoarang so…low? Outside of the considered top top, I feel he should be around low top/high mid.

my t-list
below that is the berlin wall of text. It explains why in my personal opinion why the tlist is the way it is.
BRACE YOURSELF…FOR ONE LONG ASS READ…
Ryu tier: Ryu on his own. He’s not double s but he’s still hands down the best character. The nerf to donkey kick made ryu players have to play less derpy but he still has the best close up footsies in the game, there’s no denying that and he gets stupid damage still off of one meter.
A+( I know it says s but bear with me): Cammy (best dp in the game) chun (hard to get in on has great footsies) Julia (Power house. 1000 hp, Crazy mix up game, great dp that can beat other dps on wake up. that fucking cr.mk has probably the best hit box in the game for close range character.) Guile (can play that shit lame probably the second best point character in the game but that’s my opinion. Why is he lower than the chicks. flash kick can get fucked up pretty easily on wake up and he has 950 for a dude. Julia has more, how sad =D) Rufus (Still such a power house character. even with the dive kick nerf he still packs a punch) Kazuya (Does damage. Has good chains that are difficult to punish. Cr lk is so safe and good. Mist step is amazingly good. You can’t make many mistakes on him because he can take away your life in a matter of moments. Imo best of the mishimas) Zangief (Hands down the best anchor character in this game. Once he has the life lead it’s stressful to get a hit on him. not high on the list because he does get 2-8 against jin and raven)Rolento (just cause jab pressure is gone doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the range. still has great pokes and can lame it out hard with his anti air. Don’t sleep on him folks) Vega (God damn does he do well in this game. I think in a few more months vega will jump the tier list. Has issues when people get in his grill. But his poke range is very great) Juri (glad to see my gal doing well in this game. At first she was hella herp derp. Now she requires some thinking. Cr.hp jhp to whatever you juris do is great. Has a great set of anti airs and fireballs. I like her but she still has some faults that xferred over from sf4. wake up game is still weak and predictable.)
A:Ibuki (Great pokes and pressure and can blow you up in seconds. Con can get blown up in seconds. Dp is bad and very punishable. Smart ibuki players will molest you though.) Lili (My girl. IMO she is very underused and not played properly from what i’ve seen. Lili has every tool in the game besides a command throw. She has andante, ex angel knee, she has good buttons on block, a counter, solid high low mix up that kill your opponents if they make one too many bad reads, and she has an air grab. She has it all dude. I give ibuki a higher spot because high pressure character destroy lili. I have to commit to burning meter to getting out. That’s if you’re not dumb with you frame traps and i read and make a good counter. If you want a character that has tools lili is your gal) Ken aka dr doom (The best support character imo. He does it all and it leads to damage. He has a dp he has a fire ball. he has a tatsu that keeps your opponent standing. He def is dr doom. I feel that ken is still being under utilized in the correct way. Cr mk and step kick are good pokes. And that stand mp is gdlk. Ken dps lead to some sick damage. He’s not as high imo not because of his nerfs it’s just he has to work harder and be played smarter than his pal for life ryu who can do whatever the fuck he wants.) Dahlsim (Great pokes uh duh. Fire ball. Can play it lame. Can go on point or be an anchor. Imo better on anchor. His only fault is that if you miss up that could mean the game for you. No solid wake up tools. Has a great three frame poke which comes in handy. If there was no roll in this game this character would get messed up badly on knock down) Sagat (Not bad but not great; don’t kill me jibbo! Does damage but it isn’t ryu damage. has a dp but isn’t a ken dp or has a ken tatsu. Solid anti airs though and has great pokes still from sf4, st lk is gdlk as well haha. Seems like he has to burn meter to really get some great damage. Solid point character and could play both roles. Just there are better characters to play. I rarely see sagat online or at tourney play. Fuckin ryu and mother fucking cody screw his ass.) Hwaorang (Has a dp. Makes him better than most tekken characters. Has some nice chains and a lot of up close high low mix ups that lead into solid damage. He’s a good point character. IMO i’d put him on par with sagat. He has a dive kick that gets him in and he also has an air chain just in case you didn’t know. Command dash is great. Imo he’s solid and i think for me he could go up in the tier list. I can’t think of any real faults besides the dp comes out slower than most characters and julia has the best dp of tekken characters…fuck that whore!)
B+ tier: Hugo (If hugo still gives you problem you need to go watch that renic vid or rush this nigga down when he has no meter. Let him lariat and get punished for it. He’s only dangerous when he has meter. Herp derp hugo isn’t top tier. That means you need to learn the match up and your options. Tt the nyc tourney no hugo make it to top 8. Some even said people have figured out how to fight hugo and imo it’s true. In short he’s figured out.) Heihachi (Another herp derp damage character. the only issue is if you block the close up mix up. He’s -3 on chrome dome and the most he can do to counter you is that his counter which can be throw or jump in on. Hell this tier might as well be called gimmick tier dude…seriously. Still, he has good mix up so you gotta be aware. Its okay if you get hit. Eventually you’ll learn it. Heihachi is very straight forward in terms of mix up.)Jin (Some people have him high and other people have him low. His fire ball game is only effective against hugo and gief. In a fire ball war it’s complete ass. Sometimes a stray fireball will by pass a jin fireball that appears right in front of it and he eats it. Got a solid anti air. Don’t jump on this guy. Good safe chains. He needs to get up close to you. That’s another issue he has. The ways he can get in all rely on you not knowing the match up or using mist step. Don’t let him do either. Emergency whatever magigger is gonna be used a lot in high level play. Always expect it ALWAYS. Have a throw ready. Oh and he does that shield bullshit chain combo this shit out of him. He’s solid don’t get me wrong but i see a lot of jins use gimmicks to get in or beat you. You have to know the match up, he does have a lot of solid frame traps. So don’t lose to gimmicks; I mean who the fuck does his anti air into mash jab. BLOW THAT SHIT UP WITH RAW LAUNCHER!) Law (Slow. like slow. alright pokes but slow. If you get hit you don’t know the match up. They adjusted his punch move, sorry for not knowing the name, so it’s easier to punish him. remember that into the ex version…oh god nightmares. Like he does damage if he gets a hit though and it’s meter less which is a plus. He just needs to get in and you know how he is, fly kick. Law needs to do a lot to open you up. Slow over head. If you get hit with it you should be ashamed, i know i am =(. No solid anti air. You can jump on him forever. Fits well in either position.) Steve (Un tapped potential. Need to see more high level steve play. Tell yipes to not give up on him. Steve could be one of the best characters in the game. Did you know he has a reset off the footstomp that shit is gdlk. I think as people figure him out he’ll skyrocket in the tier list. He’s not friendly for newer players. He’s pretty much up there with lei. Like atm he has untapped potential. I can’t give you a solid reason why he should be up here and i don’t think he should be low tier because people don’t play him. People barely play lili and she’s got almost everyone. Def can’t wait to see what steve players come up with as time passes) Raven (an S tier fallen from grace. Like cammy going into ae. Here is a case where if you take away a good jab the character loses all of his pressure. Not to mention his cr. hp loop is now gone as well. He got hit hard. Nowadays I notice most people use gimmicks and run away tactics to play raven. Where before they used that but had a solid jab and stupid crazy damage. Again in gimmick tier you do shit that people don’t know about. Teleport is unsafe as fucking hell. He’s just not the same raven and the cross attack where he crosses you up is gawd awful on block. Double digits if you didn’t know 13 and near 20 if he does both hits. Most people use that to tag in and confuse you. If anything i would rate him lower but he has a projectile that works at least and he fucks up gief and hugo for free so that’s why he’s there. Other then that he’s just average.)
B tier (Not bad but not great): These characters all have potential, nothing is ever solid when tech and team synergy comes into place.
Poison(Can play both roles hahaha…nasty. Decent poke range. Has a nice over head. Has fireballs which you can use on your opponent’s wake up. Good dp but not great. safe rekkas. Can use her ex jump on you head move and mess you up in fireball wars. Not too many poison’s around to familiarize yourself with the match up. has decent mix up. most new character/3s are tekken characters. I think she really has potential but i’m sure that will constitute smart play. Just many characters that do things better than her). Nina (Under played. She has great potential. That match up always messes me up. I don’t fight many nina’s. Great and safe overhead. Good grabs that can be stopped and catch an opponent off guard. She can get around fireball when she is in range. Her kicks are no hurt boxes so she doesn’t trade and beats you. Once she’s figured out i think she’s just difficult to use in the long run. Your mix up consist of nailing that over head by throwing some low attacks. It’s safe on block so there is no penalty unless you have a character that can counter. Average character that isn’t anything to special and i don’t mean to put her down. She’s got potential everyone does in b tier.)Marduk (Mr ross would have words with me in his placement. IMO he has a great jump in that’s so ambiguous. Good long range pokes and armor on his back fist. He’s just slow. Way slow. Like gief could out walk him. Has damage but only when he’s in that sweet spot range. Also has a great air grab. No jumping on him. I just feel between hugo and gief he just falls short. Like if you know what to do against him it makes the match up so much harder for him and he’s so under played =) Xiaoyu (nerf got to her as well. loops were big for her. Now xiaoyu players have to think. Great stand jab and that leads into her mix up. She can deal with fireball characters. It’s funny how some of the lower tier characters can do well against higher tier ones. She has to work hard. She has a great way to get in and tag raw tags. Chris G wasn’t too happy with the new Xiaoyu and i believe most of the player base would agree. I will say though she opens up to great lock down pressure when tagging out. Def some good stuff if you don’t know how to deal with it. Like if you lose to her you’re losing to match up unfamiliarity or eating one too many over heads. Oh another character you don’t want to jump in on.) Bison (to be fair i think he’s got great footsies. st mk is still as great as it was in sf4. i just feel when bison is pressured he has to burn meter to get away and that’s not good if you want to tag out. From experience playing with a bison player he has his pros and cons. he’s not special. You can play him like sf4 bison and do alright. Most of the charge characters didn’t transition well to this game except vega. So if you wanna play a footsies character go play vega. But if you like the duck lips then play bison.) Bob (Bob is someone I rarely fight. I looked over his frame data and it’s horrible. Most moves aren’t even +1. he has a lot of minus on his moves but in a way it works in his favor. bob can play his game because most people don’t know how to deal with it. Sorta the same case with asuka. I wanted to give bob a whirl but his partner are exceeds him. I though bob was gonna be a fast power house character. Given he has 1050 but i feel he relies on the player to know the match up. A lot of these b tier character rely on you knowing the match up. They’re not spectacular but if you don’t know what to do they seem gdlk to you. I’d love to see dieminion give bob a whirl. I’m sure he can work. Best on point and doesn’t use as much meter.) Kuma (Troll character, but will fuck you up if you don’t know what you’re doing. when he goes into hunting stances do not jump in or walk to him. throw a low or fireball to knock him out of it. A lot of his move auto combo. If you don’t know that then you’ll try to do as i did when first fought kuma and mash an attack, not a good idea. He has a roll into his throw and he can anti air pretty well. I would say he is the dan of the game. Do not underestimate him at all. He will troll dance you if you do.) King (Gotta play smart to play king. Jack of all trades in terms of grapplers. Has a nice air to air with jump hk. Has a high low mix up which works but doesn’t at the same time. You need to make solid reads or whiff. No go to grab like the other grapplers. He can stop wake up attacks and air attacks. Just feel when he’s knocked down that he has the worst time out of all all the grappler. But you know what…fucking 3 level animation when he does the kunibuster is gdlk. STARE AT MY FACE! All in all you have to play him smart and force your opponent into the mix up situation. A bad read= death) Abel (What happened to him…omfg. Best thing i can say is has the fastest over head. Ex tornado throw can be grabbed out of were in sf4 it was grab invincible. Slow. Shoulder charge is bleh. He’s a grappler so people can’t always get in your grill. I don’t fight a lot of abels and the ones i do at xanadu play him like sf4 abel. Like his alpha counter is useful, gets you out of situation. His roll mix up doesn’t work as effective in sf4. Your opponent can roll away if you miss up. Worst grappler imo. Plus if any abels dash up to you and do cr. lk cr.lk mix up into throw you raw launcher him) Yoshimitsu (Many people place him as c. I see him as a low B. He has such a great way to tag in an opponent. It’s hard to really stop it. You may not know how to fight him. My advice play the cpu. it’ll teach most of yoshi’s stuff. If you know the match up that’s great, makes it tons easier for you to fight him. average pokes. Can use gimmicks to molest you and they’re good gimmicks too. Yoshi will be out or you’ll be dead by the time you try to adapt. In the hands of a solid play he will lame you out. Lame him back out. do not pursue lu bu…er i mean yoshi. His sword mill sucks you in and anti airs pretty well. Don’t under estimate him as well.) Balrog (Oh boxer. out of all the sf4 characters that came over why did you end up the worst. Don’t play him. Not worth it. It’s like breaking your arm and telling you to go fight fairly. Dash punch is highly punishable he needs to get in…BUT HE’S A CHARGE CHARACTER?! WTF CAPCOM?! his frame data has most of his up close and personal moves as his safer ones. Can get out poked and fucked up by characters such as gief. Head butt whiffs if you crouch it. jab is slow as fuck. Like i’m serious go have fun with steve or even dudley. Rog is a shameful interation of his sf4 self. IMO he would be the worst character of the sf cast but…someone else takes the cake. Oh lastly if you’re going to play him out of character loyalty play him as anchor so he can charge…and wait for his opponent…) Asuka (Gimmick girl. You don’t know how to fight her you die. That’s the end of story. Not to insult all the asuka players i think she’s fun to watch. But she has a hard time getting in. Slow, has good anti air throws. builds hella meter. Long chain combos. Most of her moves are minus. Requires you to have either played against a lot of asuka or knowing her frame data. I played Lud’s asuka. He plays her wreckless but aggressive as well. I think she’s best as anchor. She can hold a life lead pretty well. On point…she needs meter. Lili and Asuka are some greedy meter hungry gals. No wonder they bicker so much) Akuma (Mixed opinions about him. He’s bad imo. Worst shoto in the game. HIGH RISK and LOW REWARD character. Ryu and ken and even sakura do things better than him and HAVE MORE LIFE! That’s what is holding him back…life. 850 is ridiculous. There are teams out there with combos and gem combinations that can nearly one shot akuma. Fuck all his frame data and good this or that, it doesn’t matter if you eat 60% combo. He’s too much of a liability on most teams and there are some…who put him on point…why…? Vortex does not work at all. You have to play so careful and smart and LAME. You need to out play your opponent. I blow up akuma’s all the time because one mix up takes 30% of his life that means you’re dead in another hit if the combo does more than 55% damage. How does that make any sense. Give him 900 that’s all he needs. He doesn’t need a blasted hp boost gem or you need to play him right. He’s under played because let’s face it HE SUCKS COMPARED TO SF4 AKUMA and if you refute well you don’t know him like that then tell me why infiltration doesn’t play him…yeah stfu he sucks! But if you want to play akuma play him as anchor and try not to choke. Jump up fire ball. jump up fire ball. teleport away jump fire ball. jump fire ball. Sounds easy enough until you get hit and die in two mix ups…but there is a positive, he has two super arts and of course both are badass and punishes fireballs.)
Paul Tier: Paul (Long story short. Play heihachi. Paul trolls. If you don’t know the match up you will be mind fucked pretty easily. Slow walk speed, so people can out run him and lame him out. He needs to be put on anchor so he can get into the opponent’s face. The power punch as i call it is good as you can’t punish it without burning meter. He has an over punch that does ground bounce. He does some fairly good damage but not enough to bump elbow with the top tier guys. Imo if you play him i hope you’re doing so to have fun. I feel most of the b±b tier characters are actually very fun to play. And in no way are they all just bad it’s just there are characters that already do it better.)
Orge: Uh…yeah that was no pic for him. whoever made this crappy t-list sucks. Anyway. He would be B tier and somewhere between xiaoyu and bison. All you need to know is the flame kick is safe. He punishes fireballs. Jump up kick beats out most moves but can be beaten. The infinite kicks is all minus and that is a huge gimmick imo. To block the attack you block low, mid, mid, low, low, low and then he’ll do kick or force field. Force field is a great anti air. Can be baited easily from what i seen and can be punished. Another character that relies on you not know the match up. Annoying to fight)
We have a tier/balance discussion thread for a reason folks.
