I think this game will be so good, it’s gonna have a 2nd version of this.
What I’d like them to confirm would be that they’re reworking the character models. Fuck, if Viper’s in, they should just import the one from MvC3.
I’m still loling that people are comparing this to SSF4. It looks nothing fucking like SSF4 barring aesthetics. Magic series combos, universal wakeup attacks, bounce mechanics and tag team fighting. How is this shit anything like SSF4 lmao.
^Good to know you’re easily amused by things that aren’t a big deal.
If that really is Alex then I think it’s natural we should expect Gon
No seriously, this is a good indicator of the character selection if anything. I’m now invested in this game.
Amusement is generally derived from things that are not a big deal.
Your mom, for example.
The reason people say it looks like SFIV is because they are reusing the models, but that shouldn’t matter. MvC2 is built off the SFII engine, and reuses sprites from how many games? Be glad that they are reusing the models, it will save time.
Just don’t expect good netcode because the engine still will have things preventing it from running a GGPO netcode.
I think you can basically guarantee that the rosters will mirror each other.
Updated first post. And Capcom and Namco aren’t consulting each other on the games, they are working COMPLETELY independently on both, as seen in the new “Interesting Interviews” section.
hohoho, look at this cool guy.
I like this. Less bullshit to over come.
And, like Anemone said, Capcom is using the SF4 engine and I remember reading somewhere Namco will use the tekken 6(or was it the early stages of the supposed tekken 7 engine?). No one is gonna spend too much time just getting models together from scratch. More time for the fine tuning.
The Dinosaur stage looks amazing in itself, as did the original stage. Expecting great and many stages from this game, wonder if they’ll reuse stages from SFIV. I’d hope so, the Final Fight stage and Eclipse stages would be sadly missed.
Which I’m still calling BS on this. In fact, this early into development, I think now’s a good time to petition and pester Capcom for GGPO netcode in this game.
To have had a license for this code for 3 years, and to have passed up on using it for MVC2, but then decide to randomly use it on Final Fight instead, and then pass it up for SF4/SSF4/MVC3? It’s just sad.
While I don’t know why it wasn’t implemented in MvC2, I know that this engine has certain things in it that don’t work with rollback netcode. We can still hope for improved netcode though and ask for that, just not GGPO exactly. It be best to aim for what is obtainable. I’m certainly not going to petition that Necro and 12 be put into this game, as much as I want it, because I know it’s never going to happen.
It is sad. I could be wrong (and someone correct me if I am), but it’s probably cuz Capcom America owns the licence to use GGPO netcode, as well as the rights to SF2 and Final Fight. Which is probably why HDR and FF got the GGPO netcode and not those other games, as Capcom Japan doesn’t own the licence to GGPO or those 2 games.
Like I said, I could be wrong, but I still don’t see why Capcom Japan can’t implement GGPO netcode for all their games too. Would love to hear Ponder’s take on this. I sincerely hope this game gets GGPO-quality netcode, cuz anything else is inadequate.
No need to make excuses for them this early Anemone.
I believe the reason why it wasn’t used with MvC2 is because they were running DreamCast code, so it made more sense for them to run it using the same code they used the HDR, which was also based on DreamCast code.
Capcom’s GGPO implementation so far is basically a CPS2 emulator, FF:DI is basically running the original ROMs of Final Fight and Magic Sword.

LOL Bruce as Sagat is friggin amazin and Alisa Boskonovitch as Crimson Viper is too good.
@ihateMODOK it isn’t excuses, I just except the reality that comes with making games.
Wow. That’s kind of weird.
Really the roster isn’t what hypes up the game. It’s the possible mechanics, movesets, the diversity and the 2 on 2 gameplay that hypes it up. Anyone that knows anything about SF or Tekken could figure out the roster.
It’s like Button Checks. Can’t go without them anymore.
