Time for V.S. Kitty then.
Hmmm… I know I’m going to end up getting this stick! Question is if both (probably get 2 in the end) will be PS3 sticks.
I’m tempted to get one of the 360 model and (now that JDM has confirmed it’ll work) a TE Kitty.
No soldering but I’m still gonna have to pay at least $8 for a damned RJ-45 pass-through.
Why are the small parts always so expensive???
Can I just give you 60 and my shipping info now and you send me one on completion.
is the inside of the Pro version http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/accessories/ps3-street-fighter-x-tekken-fight-stick/99080 the same as the V.S. I was thinking about picking up a ps3 pro and modding it for 360. Or would it be better to get a 360 and mod it for ps3 use?
Adding PS3 to a 360 stick will always be easier than visa versa.
After so many years of the community modding MadCatz products, I have to wonder why would the MadCatz design team make a new product where it’s even harder to place custom PCBs without taking a dremel to the plastic? Do they like making things more difficult?
This product design was done/completed a long time ago, to be honest. This design is almost 3 years old (same with the FightStick PRO). We’re not in the mind reading business and I apologize. But I assure you future designs will take more consideration for what the community is currently doing.
Flash back to 3 years ago, we didn’t have to ask the questions that we are currently asking.
Also, jdm, thanks as always <3 Where’s our picture?
He posted it in the hang out loud thread.
Have you ever modded a Dreamcast Agetec joystick case or a Hori Fighting Stick?
Then you have no idea how difficult dremeling plastic is!
Those two case mods are classic cases of uber-plastic cutting/shredding modding taken to the extreme. Those are jobs that should be done over a few days to minimize mistakes…
From what I’ve seen of JDM’s diagrams, the case mod for the V.S. is nothing compared to the Agetec and Hori FS mods – there’s a heck of a lot more plastic to cut there to fit arcade parts.
Hori really doesn’t design cases according to what a small percentage in this community do mod-wise… they’re designing for the mass-market user-base that generally doesn’t do much more than swap buttons because they want a different color. After they’ve paid $130+ for a joystick, most people will not throw additional money on top of that to swap out existing arcade parts! Aside from their HRAP 1-3 SA models, the Hori joysticks were not made to be opened up easily let alone have replacement PCB’s installed or add-on’s made to the existing boards. Occasionally, they’ll throw us a bone or copy what has worked with the competition’s joysticks – witness the HRAP V3/VX cases copying the cable storage compartment door and the general Viewlix layout of the Mad Catz TE. Sometimes, they’ll start a trend or come up with their own quirky feature like the Start button cover on the new SC V case.
Heck, neither Microsoft nor Sony want multi-console joysticks on the market. They put pressure on the existing second-party hardware vendors to NOT violate proprietary technology agreements. It’s all mods by users trying to save money across consoles or grey-market third-party add-ons or joysticks like the Qanba/Eightarc line.
Again, for the millionth time, Hori will NEVER make it intentionally easy to do PCB mods nor will they endorse them. MS and Sony are their hardware partners and give them preference so long as they don’t anger them with intentional changes to make multi-console modding easy or moves to grey market hardware PCB’s (Paewang PCB).
What we do with the joysticks AFTER we buy them doesn’t matter to Hori or Mad Catz so long as we’re not copying and mass-producing clones of said-joysticks.
^ I’d like to correct you actually… We do care what people do after they buy their sticks.
Hey guys, can I get a little help here: how can I get one of this shipped to Brazil? Gameshark store doesn’t ship internationally and I was planning on getting one to review it for our website Portal Versus. Can anybody help me on getting a V.S. shipped to Brazil? Markman?
Also, Toodles, can we use the Cthullu on this one?
Thanks guys!
I’m sorry, we don’t sell directly to South America. Your best bet is to have a friend try to get one for you or someone you trust.
There is no way this could be done through you guys?
Will other stores have it soon, and I mean like 1 week max?
Does anybody want to be my friend? Haha, just kidding.
An alternative might be order it from Amazon, maybe they ship to Brazil. That or use some third party to buy and send it to an US Adress and then reship it to Brazil like Bongo
Amazon ships this to Brazil, for 460 freaking dollars.
Gaming is already expensive as hell for us around here, shipping as well. Paying double shipping fees would raise the price tag to almos 400 as well. I was trying to find a reasonable way to get it. But thanks for the tips!
I can ship for you.
For fitting a Cthulhu, I’m not sure where to place it.
Thanks JDM! Will send you a PM.
