since the side of the stick is glossy from the gamespot video im guessing its similiar to how the te’s are built. the frame is most likely plastic and the top panel and the bottom panel is metal.
I did a quick rundown with Markman at CES on Tuesday. Here’s the video:

I am working on a video where I go in to an in depth review of each of the sticks showing their pros and cons. Stay tuned for that.

any chance to see this in Germany or be able to test it somewhere? Would like to write a German review.
Love the idea, hate those bolts in the front.
Will these be available at Gamestop etc?
Good video; good to see some more info about the new sticks.
You gotta stabilize the camera, though; it was REALLY shaky and wobbly all the time.
@Markman: Gotta say, you look much sharper with the shorter hair and clean shaven (as compared to you a month ago at NEC).
When will the V.S. start shipping
I’m interested to know why they don’t have black screws, seems like it’d blend in better. But not a huge deal, you can always add your own!
Have to admit, Im not sure why so many of those screws are needed in the front. Its a real eye sore.
I personally really like the look of the silver bolts contrasting the black.
This is exactly what i have been wanting!!! The price isnt bad really when compared to say the chun stick…
So 420 for 2 sticks that can be one huge one… I am sold.
And to think i just sold all my te sticks… Just in time for these
The rounded stainless steel bolts don’t bother me. Guess I’m used to seeing them on arcade hardware or something.
well considering how big the stick is…and its truly a redesign, I think its worth it. I mean I’d rather them making the V.S. for Soul Calibur…but eh…thats what artwork is for.

Exactly…
I really like the concept of owning a dual two player joystick unit, especially with the ability to separate them. The issues I have with the overall new V.S. product are; it would have been nice if the outside chassis was wood, the visible metal bolts and screws are quite the eye sore. Also the artwork would have been nice if they imitated the Vewlix arcade look with red, white, and black. I can understand why they wouldn’t because of the licensing issues and the stick was meant to compliment Street Fighter X Tekken. Finally the cost, $420 seems a bit too much for a mass produced two joysticks and bolting kit. Typically Mad Catz TE joysticks cost $150 each, usually when people buy multiple quantities of an product, they expect some sort of discount. The most I would pay is $300 for two joysticks and bolting kit before taxes and shipping.
You can get two TEs and some gorilla tape for $300.
Ok 20 off… So an extra case of beer for me… Already know what i wanna do… Artwork that spans the whole thing but looks good on thier own, some clear sanwas led lit and some leds inside… Couple matching butteroj balltops…Glorious…
I posted a clue on twitter awhile back, but no one got it…

I said “1.5 hrs. < Cryptic info about the next gen of arcade sticks. :>”
1.5 hrs. = 1:30 or 0130 or HSS-0130.
Are you surprised? That’s more like a Zodiac Killer cipher clue.
Do not underestimate the powers of the internets
To Tushar’s credit. He was using his phone to record it and he was nervous because I beasted on him in the game, lol jk.
Thanks. It was CES, had to clean up a bit lol.
I didn’t say we would do it, I said this is something we’re thinking about
