Street Fighter V's lack of content is appalling

The fact that they’re actually matches with rounds, no drawbacks from your previous match etc… is that not enough? Not everyone wants to play online 24/7, and vs CPU has always been a go to mode to just relax and play or even start getting used to new characters. Removing such a feature is the dumbest thing I have ever seen a fighting game company make.

One person does not constitute people. Doesn’t matter how many people read it or how big the site is, that is the opinion of one writer.
I agree that it’s a silly oversight and something that should have been in the game, but it is such a minor concern that it’s not really worth more than a passing mention. It’s hardly #1 of anything.

Can you ‘play’ CPU in training?

Set all gauges to normal and dummy to CPU/whatever difficulty. I’m not sure what happens with the life bar. If it always refills or not.

I’m not trying to defend anything, just saying that might be a way to do it.

Lack of content doesn’t really bother me too much knowing some stuff is coming in a few weeks.

However the colour thing does bother me, I like to switch up stages/colours now and then, and doing survival for colours is awful. For all the reasons already given. Its just implemented terribly at the moment.

Just take my tenner and give me all colours/costumes. Hopefully it happens with the update. Plus if you get all colours with the season pass that would be nice.

Parting thought, someone has already mentioned… we’re supposed to get a lil’ something for taking part in the beta. Capcom could do some PR smoothing by giving us some colours/costumes for that (it’d also serve as a little apology for the day one server stuff).

I disagree. Street Fighter’s Popularity is too vast and great, and this stint is not going to cripple this franchise. How many people complained, moaned and cried foul when SF4 had Multiple iterations? “I’m Never going to play this again?!” “I’m Never going to buy another SF game Again!” “Capcom can suck my C*ck!” “They’re nothing but Capcom Cash Cows!” Yet, every time…Street Fighter ends up having the Most Competitive Entries and the Biggest International Scene out of any fighting game…by a Significant Margin.

Even Haters who Hate Street Fighter just for the sake of it will end up watching, and commentating about the game.

As for Tokido, he can say what he wants, because it’s not like we didn’t hear other Top-Tier players say the samething with Street Fighter 4. “This game is terrible, and it’ll be dead within 2-3 years tops, then people will move on back to the other SF games.” 7-8 years later, and SF:4 proved otherwise.

Opinions can change even for top players, and even if they don’t change, guess what usually does happen? They’ll Still Play the game, and more than likely be competing in it, because that’s where the bread and butter will be at. I despised 3rd Strike and it’s gameplay mechanics, and yet during the early-mid 2000’s I was competing in the game due to the fact that Everyone was playing it.

More importantly it’s also the Top-Tier Players that will directly have an impact on the game of Street Fighter V as well. As far as I know Daigo still plays the game. Even though Tokido disagrees with SF:V’s gameplay he’s still playing. So is Xian, Infiltration, Gamerbee, and we know all of the Top US players like Wong, PR Balrog, Ricky, Snake Eyez, heck, even OG Graham Wolfe has jumped back on the plane.

Franchises lay a bad egg once in awhile, it’s not that unreasonable. Their treatment of Megaman is inexcusable, however Resident Evil is making a comeback and the RE:R games are not bad at all, while the RE:2 remake is building serious steam. Street Fighter V’s launch is absolutely not acceptable, however the only way I could seriously see this becoming an issue is if 2-3 weeks down the road and the connection issue somehow is still a serious problem, then that would definitely Hurt the SF:V game because at this point you would even start to deter the competitive players.

However I highly doubt that even that would happen, considering the amount of money they have invested in this game. So Yes, I’m on the belief that although it was a poor opening that the success on the long run for SF:V will pay off.

I’m also going to bring this up. Whose Not going to watch Weds Night Fight Tonight? This first unveiling of Street Fighter V is going to have almost ALL of the Top Cats from the USA showing up, Ricky Ortiz, SnakeEyez, Justin Wong, PR Balrog, F. Champ etc will all be there.

I guarantee even the Haters will be on to watch this event, simply because of all of the Top Billing Names that will be there for the first Annual SF:V at Weds Night Fights.

No harm done.

Lastly, if anyone thinks I’m riding Capcoms Jock, all I can say is, please go and read up my post pertaining to my opinions about many of the gameplay mechanics of Street Fighter V that I disapprove of and particularly my main character Ryu. I’ve never been nice to Capcom because I always expect the best out of them.

I wonder how many people will still defend when NOTHING comes out in March and gets delayed

I have popcorn ready for March 31st
Just in case

That might be on the long run. Personal example: I left fighting games on highschool, with KoF99 (which I still love), and came back about 4 years ago, with KoF13 for PS3. Then Blazblue, and some friend lend me his copy of Super SF4. And I hated it. I deeply hated that game. Found it clumsy and frustrating. (At this day, I’m with the mobility and agressiveness of ASW games).
Then I bought Ultra. It was cheap, and I thought "meh… ". Tried with a stick and loved it.

What I mean to say is: In years, Capcom is perfectly capable of turning the SFV into the definitive 2d fighting experience, but in the meantime, we’ll se lots of try and error. I’m confident they’ll do a good job, but I’ll keep on nagging.

Also, we can count on the pressure that Sony will put into this. They have half-bought the franchise to fight against KI. They’ll demand results.

Sony demanding that this game make it out by yesterday was probably the direct result of Sony demanding results and demanding that it be released on that date.

“Demanding results” is never a good way to work in the development world.

Humans like to defend their investments. It’s a flaw in the way we were built.

Well considering a $60 purchase on a video game an “investment” is a problem right there.

It’s not an investment, it’s a commodity. A cheap one at that.

It is an investment of sorts in that the game is being treated as a platform. You are fronting $60 for potentially a lot of free content further down the line.

I’m not really going out of my way to defend Capcom, but I’ve grown so used to plenty of companies using all these DLC as a easy way to get a lot of money out the gate then expect everyone to be fine with getting everything else ironed out in a few months or so. It’s so common with most games now really.

Sure it’s nice to have the technology to constantly get updates and patches when needed, but it’s been used as a crutch too many times to get games out the door only for it to stumble all over itself.

There’s also those who are blind haters.
I like this game, and I enjoy playing it. I think that the fighting aspect is superb and I love it.
That doesn’t mean that I can’t see what is wrong with the release. I couldn’t get any games, and got disconnected several times. I can admit the release was terrible.
However, people who are hating on it make it sound as if the poor release makes the whole game a bad product. As if major releases with an online aspect did not have problems at launch all the time.
I “defend” it because I know that once we’re past technical issues then the game is actually amazing. This is not like SFxTK release where we had valid complaints about shady business practices.

In other words, I can see what is wrong with the release but don’t immediately jump into the hate band wagon, and instead patiently wait for it to be fixed because above all we all know the game itself is good, we’re just hitting a bump in the road. If you’re going to call me a " blind fanboy" for this I don’t know what to tell you.

There is no defense for Capcom removing a signature mode thats been there since Street Fighter 1; since the literal beginning.

Street Fighter 1 is an arcade game.
Street Fighter 5 is not.

Street fighter 1 is game.
Street Fighter 5 is a pile of shit.

Ebin. Simply ebin.

I seriously hope you’re trolling. LOL

It doesn’t need to be an Arcade game to have Arcade Mode.

Literally every fighter has it whether it’s console exclusive or not.

Why does it always come down to accusations of trolling? No one has answered why vs. CPU and arcade mode are so infinitely better than the lowly dog shit survival mode.
The guy with the wankbait avatar unsurprisingly spouted nothing but nonsense, and all you do is say “dude ur trollin lmao”.

The gameplay is meh for anyone that’s been in to fighters for a while. It doesn’t really work right now, its a travesty how much content it has and costs full price to top things off.
