Street Fighter V Lounge "We on South Central crack addict status"

oh, word?

see me in 3s on fightcade right now

I seriously hope charlie is as fast as chun and when he gets shown, they match him up versus chun li, just to show that the game isnt as slow as people might think.

I think I just figured out why [we] think it’s slow. Actually, I think the game moves at a pace similar to SF4. But it’s the overall animation of moves. It’s like even the most basic moves has a ton of recovery. Ryu does a Cr. MK and that thing seems to take forever to stop animating. Even his standing Jab looked like it had more frames than it should. This comes across like you can almost punish everything…but overall, the pace is maybe a teensy bit slower than SF4, but it’s the animations.

Also, I just noticed this (not sure if it was in Mike/Combo’s match), but the setup is Daigo using Ryu on P1 side, and Gamerbee using Chun on P2. But at about 1:30 when Ryu wins the round by hitting Chun with a shoryuken that knocks her in the restaurant, when the next round starts, they are reversed: the character art is the same, but Chun is on the P1 side, and Ryu is on P2 because Chun was knocked in the restaurant. That’s new to me.

They said nothing, it was gratuitous
Too many murrican on this board for the grappler want him in and leave russian skies unprotected, once in a while random shitting is needed

This was already confirmed as of Capcom Cup.

The effects actually completely conceal the second hit of Ryu’s hadouken at this point.

When people say the game looks slow (or at least when I say it looks slow)
It’s the moves themselves, Chun’s SF5 Lp and Lk versus Chun’s SF4 Lp and Lk are perfects examples
If you are familiar with the character the speed/animation is clearly slower
You see Cr. Hk several times in these SF5 videos and the speed of it is noticeable much much slower than SF4’s
I’ve still not seen a Cr.Hp to know what it looks like or a single HSU…I don’t even know if this game has it yet.

I fine with that as opposed to motion inputs for the legs. 3 leg inputs would probably be too lenient to the point you might get the lightning legs accidentally while 5 inputs is too much to the point you either have to learn sliding or pianoing. On pad it is especially a hassle.

The ability for the leg extension seems to be gone as well, like in Omega.

So far for only being 10% complete the game looks beautiful! Everyone is harping on the slowness of the game but I dont think the game is that slow. Its still around the same as SF4. It looks slow due to the heavy animations going on here. Its 3rd Strike in 3D here folks and I love it!

That Chun li Fireball barrage was awesome. People seem to forget you cant get a KO in SFV with Chip damage. It probably wont last as long in the final build anyways.

Compared to SF4 when it was first shown, this is lightyears ahead of it. I really cant wait to see the finished product!

I was right about Capcom busting a Capcom yesterday, what did they do? Of course, they showed a Ryu and Chun Li match on the same stage, good thing i didn’t get my hopes up, I called it.

Well lets think guys… When they first showed us the footage at Capcom cup (Mid December), they said the game was only 20% complete. It’s barely been a month and half since then, and i think the problem is that people went in yesterday expecting like 50% complete footage, expecting new characters to be shown too. My guess would be that it’s “30%” done? Maybe They are reusing the same build? Maybe there is tons of off screen changes, like working on other stages, menus, working on music, ect? I still think everyone complaining is jumping the gun, way to early, and this is coming from a person who loves to rant about Capcom being a shadow of it’s former self. If it’s not even 50% done, no way in hell is it out of Alpha. Worst case scenario i got Smash and Dota 2 to play, now excuse me as i attempt to play Laggy Fighter IV on PC.

I actually re-watched the match at 1.25 speed… It looks perfect lol

Also I don’t think Chun li’s fireball barrage is that difficult to avoid. Jumping in-between them actually avoids them comletely, it’s not like Morrigan at all.

Here’s the 60 FPS version, watching it at 1.25 speed, then thinking about it being in Alpha still, makes me feel better. Looks much nice like this.

To me what they showed yesterday was the same build from the Capcom Cup.

Im just not going to get all crazy negative over an unfinished constantly changing product. Everyone eating a cow right now is just over reacting, this game is sill very early.

I think that, maybe the on-screen gameplay video with legit 60 fps will look alot better than the one we currently have from Taipei ?

Okay, watching the videos in 60 FPS makes everything look much better. Ryu still needs better walkspeed though. =V

Normals look way to slow still. Sweeps, stand fierces, ryus cr.mk etc all look like they
start up > hit/block (active)> FREEZE > recovery

they really need to remove all the freezing of animation (hit stop?) And reduce recovery Still. Maybe even improve walk Speed and zoom out from the stage a tiny bit. I hate how close up it looks.

Edit: yea especially remove that hitstop shit from counter hits and meaties and such. The over emphasized blow back is unnecessary, just add less push back and a little more frame advantage on counter hit and meaty, don’t make it so a simple counter hit cr.mp From ryu would allow ryu to walk up and forward fierce > cr.hp xx shinku hadoken

I watched the videos are 1.25 speed and thats just too fast. This isnt marvel.

Watched it at 1.25 speed and it looked retarded, but almost right.
The game just needs a bit higher speed and it looks great. Maybe 10 percent faster or something or maybe even less but a speedup would definitely make the game look better.

I really dislike the stage transitions making stages bigger. Probably takes forever to walk people into the corner.
All in all I can’t say much about this other than that I hope that this Chun Li fireball barrage shit was a joke on behalf of Ono and Dimps.
Dunno what problem people have with the animations. I feel like they look different from IV but still kinda good.

Its definitely Hong Kong. The green taxi in the background is a dead giveaway.

I’m still skeptical with stage transitions too. I wish some official info was provided into it, like if they are making the stage longer following the transition, etc. I think the game will improve overtime, but yea the speed kinda affects how fluid the movement is. I can see where people are going with the NRS-like animation complaints.

Maybe you can bring a can of Pepsi to a Capcom party and you’ll be considered the VIP of the party, and therefore get us some answers
