I’ve only seriously played the hilariously broken KI 1, so I have no opinion on the new KI. SF5, Xrd, and MGS TPP are making me pick up a PS4 next year so I will never play KI unless it comes out on PC.
I really do hope Karin makes it in though. She was my main along with Gief and Rolento. The thing is, I highly doubt it wood cost THAT much on royalty to get Karin in. She is one of the most popular characters for people who played A3 (and even those who don’t).
Bottom line is Karin should make it in especially sine Sony is moneyhatting the project. Some of that free money could go to Karin and make many people happy.
I’m not sure how this works, but I thought with console exclusive games the console producers fork over tons of money to make the game only be released on their console (thus increasing console sales). I would think Sony jumped on this and worked out a deal with Capcom. I’m sure Xbox would want to have SF5 on their console. (Doesn’t xbox have by far the largest playerbase for SF4?)
Well if Sony is completely backing the game then there really isn’t any excuse financially to exclude Karin. However there is something else that could prevent her inclusion. What if the creator for whatever personal reasons does not want Karin to appear in another street fighter game? It has been 20 years since he did those street fighter mangas.
Well he had no problem with her continued appearances in crossovers like CFJ and NxC so I doubt he’s too bothered by her continuing to appear in games.
During development they had 3 different versions of Ryu (actual working models) before they settled on one they thought would work:

THANK YOU! I love this dude! this is the picture I was talking about in the other thread. Out of all the art directions they could have gone with, they chose the fugliest one they could think of. I dont know if they were sandbagging/holding back so they could use the better ones later for SF5/6 or something but surely bottom middle looks the best.
It looks like a piece of art, and resembles third strike a bit. They should have gone for this look for SF5 (and SF4 infact as well), but they chose for the ugly ass top right hand corner one. siiighhhh
Hello everybody. I didn’t read through all of the posts here because I’m totally supposed to be writing a philosophy paper right now, but I wanted to ask if anybody thought about the guard crush as Ryu specific? I mean when Chun did her…devil trigger thingy there were noticeable changes in her playstyle like the two fireballs instead of one and the water effect. I was thinking that if Ryu’s thing is “lightning” or “denjin” couldn’t that possibly mean it would apply a guard break effect to some of his attacks, just like the Denjin Hadouken?
What I’m getting at is, Guard Breaks may not be a universal mechanic, but a character specific one. What do you guys think?
I think Capcom went straight to Sony and didn’t even talk to MS.
But if Capcom did talk to MS, it might have been a smart business move on Microsoft’s part & considerate to the Street Fighter franchise to turn down the opportunity. Almost nobody has a Xbox in Japan & nobody there wants one. So to make the biggest fighting game in Japan exclusive to Xbox would be a d*ckhead move & a likely bad investment on both sides. At least with KI, you know Westerners and Europe will pick it up, and everybody else is optional; nobody gets hurt aside from Xbox not having the biggest fighting game on Earth lol. But it’s MS’ s job to offset that with KI.
So it’s a good thing that Sony picked up SFV for the sake of the franchise.
That’s crazy, most people are talking about who they want to return as a playable character in SF5, but no one is asking about new characters from scratch like the gift that was Juri in Super. Please Capcom, no typical cat girls with head phones like the ones you see on every anime Youtube music play list or a certain game.
It’s because SF series has so many characters by now that almost everyone has at least one or a few favorites that they want to see back for this game.
