Street Fighter V Lounge "We on South Central crack addict status"

All this does is make everything more depressing for me, that means they still haven’t gotten lame Bison out of the way yet, and he’s basically what’s in store for us at an event that actually does matter. (E3) Bison should of been announced here, he isn’t worthy for E3. (look at me with all this Bison hate lately) Why not show new characters at E3, have a new trailer, and give us gameplay of the latest build using characters beside Ryu and Chun Li, and finally give us a build to play while at E3, that should make up for it. Oh, and talk about release windows.

the amount I care about bison is so little that when he was teased all I could think about was “oh dear…I hope hes not our main antagonist…”

Good thing I went to sleep early.

Anyway, I guess it makes some sense in that Capcom NEVER does things spontaenously with SF. If they’re going to tell us something new about it they usually tell us ahead of time. It should still be a bit embarrassing to show nothing when not one but two FGs actually announced new things going on at the show.

So…capcom was the kid who showed up to class without a project and just sort of fumbled for a minute and read its notes out loud to the class from a previous assignment while the others kind of awkwardly felt bad for capcom.

Except no one felt bad but sure, it’s not a bad analogy.

Hold up.

Did Capcom ever themselves say that the NicoNico event was going to see ‘new’ SFV information shared on it?

If I recall, it was speculated by fans. NicoNico was holding their event, and Capcom was cited among those contributing information on upcoming and current titles. To that end, they delivered. They showed a bunch of Monster Hunter and DMC4 footage, alongside the staple Ultra SFIV promo videos and the two SFV trailers we are all familiar with.

A bunch of PR mopes from Capcom engaged in the expected Crossdresserplay and mashed buttons on stage with Blanka and Balrog, again, as expected.

I have my suspicions it was the fans who set themselves up for disappointment by speculating we’d see new SF5 footage. Further, did that village idiot Ono say anything about new footage or information backed up with a Blanka toy at all?

I think at this point, unless Ono undergoes a Blanka-toy-backed bout of Twitter cockteasing, it’s safe to assume nothing new is going to emerge.

Still, if I recall, the Charlie trailer quite literally came outta nowhere. So who knows.

I know E3 isn’t that far away but come the fuck on, throw us a bone here. This is CRUEL.

E3?
Fuck it, too far

Ideal imho it will be

First days of May: Bison Trailer + Teaser of first total NEW char
E3(start 16 June): New char Trailer + Teaser of some big return + some info about the game + playable build of first 4 characters

Maybe the new trend is to start releasing trailers on Tuesdays… so get hype for this coming Tuesday.

As far as I can recall, there was no official announcement that they would be announcing anything.

i think that we wouldn’t be really having this problem if Capcom had announced the game when it had progressed much farther into the development like what NetherRealms did with MKX

I think announcing it around June with a gameplay trailer and then later Demoing it in E3 like MKX would have been better

EDIT

Lel, i watched the Charlie trailer many times but didn’t realize that the Genocide Cutter/Somersault in the trailer was EX version until i saw VesperArcade’s breakdown , lol

Nah, better that they show it early so that people can provide their impressions and constructive criticism.

I’m pretty sure that MKX wouldn’t have turned out to be such a set play/vortex heavy game had it been revealed 6 months earlier.

Uh yeah it would…because that’s how MK has pretty much always been. That is its thing when it comes to gameplay.

NRS being patch happy I doubt a sooner reveal would have any impact. People just need to bitch at them for the Nerf bat to strike.

Not really. At least not as much as X seems to be. It’s like they took what they found with Batgirl and MMH in Injustice and applied it to more of the cast.

Did you not play MK9…at all?

The only one that really wasn’t like that was UMK3…and that was because why bother with the set plays when you’re doing 50%+ off of a touch?

Ok, I’ll admit that I’m going more on what players both locally and at TYM have been telling me. I personally prefer Injustice to MK and played that one competitively, not the other. That said, from what little I do remember of MK9, it at least had more zoning than you see in X, where even zoning specialists like M2Dave are just rushing down now because the meta is clearly more about knockdown into lolwhatisSFIV vortex.

More importantly however, you can see a certain distaste for the playstyle or how MKX has pushed it forward, so it could be possible that had the game and its direction been shown earlier, the reaction for or against it may have affected the direction.

There was more zoning but the zoning was more for setup for the rushdown and for finishing off an opponent rather than a complete playstyle. It’s not zoning as we know it in other games. Plus a lot of characters had ways to deal with zoning, due to teleports or just the mechanics of Run Block Cancelling.

Plus when it comes to MKX it has more to do with the fact that there’s just less zoning style characters. Kenshi isn’t the zoning monster he was before in any of his variations and Kitana’s fan pressure seems weakened and a lot of “hybrids” didn’t receive any strength to their zoning. On top of all of that, defensive options are not as strong due to backdashing requiring stamina and Breaker requiring full Stamina on top of the meter requirements and no one having invincibility on reversals anymore and needing meter to armor out not unlike Injustice. This makes rushdown more appealing.

It’s not just a matter of “less zoning”. There’s always a causality.

I miss invincibility on reversals mainly because it placed more importance on restands then getting a knockdown. One of the things I very liked about MK9.

Eh, I’m fine with it either way. MK9 Restands are just knockdowns for any other game.
