It’s like you all never participated in a beta before.
This shit is pretty standard. It’s not a demo. The point is so capcom knows how to set the servers up so It can handle shit and not have shit like whats going on happen on launch.
Stop acting like Capcom owes you that chance to play SFV early when it was just Capcom trying to make sure shit is set for launch.
I said this yesterday and i will repeat myself. Why not make it a free open beta then? Some people had to go out their way to try and obtain a beta key. I’ve played free betas that has performed better than this failure.
Preordering online, or if you’re UK, signing up is now going out of your way? The entitlement is strong here.
You paid nothing. You can get your preorder money back whenever you want.
What people did to obtain the beta isn’t on Capcom. It isn’t Capcom’s fault that people skipped work, wait X amount of hours pressing X or what have you. These people went into this treating it like a demo when it’s a test. While a fuck up the beta is actually doing it’s job as a beta. Better this is out of the way now than this happening at launch. This problem is what fucked the launches of Sim City and Battlefield 4.
Okayyy…
That is exactly what I wrote, so who’s illiterate. As for your frame of reference, here’s what I have an idea about. You don’t read all the posts here. If you did, you’d know I said earlier I did play some games. Your post however, includes such gems as, “I would guess,” “probably,” “assuming,” and “most likely.” So no thanks. And your advice(?) is to keep hitting yes, which is exactly what I was doing the ENTIRE TIME. So no thanks again.
You can answer and reply to whatever you want, however you want, within the rules here. And so can I. So telling me “don’t” is hilarious. I’ll tell you what I “won’t” do, and that’s derail this thread any further.
ANYWAY who’s ready to try again??? 45 minutes guys!
What’s really weird to me is the fact that this whole mess of a non-working beta server thing happened in the first place.
I mean, in the past Capcom has released several demos with working multiplayer - most prominent ones are, of course: Resident Evil 5, Dragon’s Dogma, Marvel vs Capcom, Lost Planet 2 (there were probably others, but they were most likely long deleted from the PlayStation Store), and people had zero issues with either of them, and I distinctely remember playing with random people in RE5 and LP2 demos as well
So either something went completely fucking wrong with setting up the new servers specifically for SF5, or their entire system can’t uphold people from PS3, PS4, and PC all at the same time, which is kinda weird since the online in other games works just as fine as it usually does
Capcom can do no wrong apparently. It’s a train wreck out there and that’s just the facts. You can’t hype something up for months(even something hiding behind the term “beta”)and not deliver a fraction of what was advertised. Feels like this whole thing was just used to boost preorder numbers. No prep was made to have it actually function.
And open betas like these are basically glorified demos. The real testers are testing the game behind closed doors. We are basically stress testing their shitty netcode at the moment.
Gotta remember though, it’s not over. People are talking about it like it’s a done deal, it’s not. The past couple days have been rough but it was SCHEDULED for 3 more anyway and they already said they’re extending it so let’s see.
I don’t think anyone at Capcom expected it to go this badly. Doing this now and failing horribly is actually a good thing considering how far away the release of the game is.
Do you not know what a Beta is? They are test, they are meant to find any issues with the game and fix them before they launch. Demos don’t do that. They are a fraction of an already completed product.
Anyone who actually participates in real betas go into it expecting trainwrecks. That’s the entire purpose of them.
@Hawkingbird sorry but no. I fulling expect to make it passed the title screen. Lag, disconnects, framerate drops, brief periods of downtime(a few hours tops), etc. are all normal. The vast majority of “testers” never actually seeing the game is not in any form normal.
