Be careful with those setups, as they look like they’ll get blown up by reversals.
You are right. I choose what to do seeing the behavior of my opponent. If they like to DP i just block. But indeed, it’s not the best of the bests but it is still nice to watch
So what exactly do the Power, Discipline, and Respect stats mean? My power and Respect are pretty low, but my Discipline is damn near maxed out.
To recap on my troubles with birdie; how exactly are you guys dealing with rushdown? I feel like I have no options after a successful anti-air c.mp. As in, they land in front of me but then his jab is slower than everyone elses thus far, and throw beats command grab. So if you’re in the corner and you keep getting jumped in or pressured, what exactly can you do to get out of the situation? I keep getting wrecked by pressure online.
Its crazy how little pushback on block there is
like I’ll poke, poke and poke somemore only to find myself still right in the opponents grill, lol.
gonna take some getting used to for sure.
Am I the only one with terrible laggy matches? This is unplayable.
Yes. You are.
Are you sure EX grab get’s beat by throws? I usually just block the initial string then EX grab. F+HP seems to beat out panic pokes too since it has armor.
V-reversal.
100% sure, I’ve thrown out EX grab and had it beaten mid animation by throws, both in laggy and smooth matches. I think it’s odd since the whole purpose of EX should be a quicker startup.
Also Citrus, your be better off using cr.hp as an anti-air. It knocksdown on hit and you can set stuff up.
Mix in Birdie’s crouching jabs and strong to get people off of you
You should also make people respect his standing roundhouse. It’s pretty good. That will keep them out for a bit
Birdie I think is all about preemptively getting people off of you. If people are getting in on you it’s because your spacing is poor. Which I’m sure the majority of Birdies online have poor spacing and don’t realize that he’s a hybrid zoner/grappler. He honestly has more in common with a zoner than a grappler so if you learn to play him as more a zoner you’ll get more bang for your buck. He has longer normals than the entire other cast and his chain special can catch people hitting buttons or throwing projectiles from a distance.
The main other tool you’re going to need to keep people from crowding you is his V Skill. Bananas and cans are key to keeping up a wall in front of you that keeps people from getting in. Which when you build the wall enough you can build up V Gauge by eating donuts. The scary thing about Birdie is he is the only character in the game that can build V Gauge without hitting you. Putting all of this together with his normals and specials is key. Once you get space and build up your V Trigger way before your opponent, you all of a sudden are in a big lead as far as resources go.
Which once you get V Trigger I believe his special moves get armor and he naturally has moves that have armor. Giving you better options if people press buttons.
Try using EX charged horn also (hold 2 punches, release). Supposedly that has full armor and could probably be used as reversal.
The worst thing about this beta is that I haven’t played the same player more than once. There’s some matches I need to run back.
MY issue with the beta right now is that, in the laggier matches, it tends to drop inputs too much. Encourages some bad habits, like I find myself mashing too hard hoping that shit isn’t dropped.
I’m definitely noticing the dropped inputs thing sometime. Not sure why that’s happening since like Purbeast said, I don’t remember that happening often in KI. We’ll see what they come up with to fix.
lol this forum is funny
Just played against pikachuakuma. Damn, that’s two big names i’ve gotten lucky to play against. I lost but I beat him in one round, that alone satisfies me XD.

That’s some good advice, it’s been working thus far. I wasn’t using all of his normals before whereas I get it now. Also weird thing, set the dummy to jump, get right up on it, jump at the same time and try lp. It will whiff entirely. I tried it on nash and ryu.
I WAS ABOUT TO PERFECT 2 ROUNDS AND IT DISCONNECTS. THERE IS NO GOD.
only had one match that had connection issues today. I’m excited for the official beta, here’s hoping for the most recent build… not going to be surprised if it’s still this old build though.
accumulated 3.5 million Zenny, can i buy necalli yet ;_;
