Anything with a command grab is destroying Rog.

Necalli is as close to mental torture as I have gotten with Rog. Laura is more manageable because her oki is possible to anticipate when you know what she can get from every knockdown, but Necalli keeps sustained pressure from a lot of his knockdowns and has no issues staying + on block with the threat of throw/command grab, so there isn’t ever a moment where Rog can counter his offensive relatively safely other than using v-reversal. That in turn means you don’t have access to your VT very often against the character.
On that topic, personally I think Necalli is #1 tied with Chun in S+ tier.
Yeah he would be forced to rely on Trigger since the momentum he would be forced into to start with will inevitably have him at a life deficit. Not having a DP or EX reversalf vs Mika really sucks because it means you’re going to have to V Reversal to get away from her. He also can’t low profile her charged drop kick so he will be V Reversaling a lot. Which means less chance at getting to use your V Trigger to begin with. Although if you do get it started you can take the round.
As you can tell by this, the matchup can go great for Rog.
There is, but it’s mostly just to hide behind and reload kunais or just get someone in a situation where you know they’re low on meter or don’t have a reversal to try and steal momentum. Against a lot of characters with meter though it’s extremely risky. It’s only really safe to throw out raw from a range which again you would just use to hide behind and recharge kunais. The bomb is considered a projectile so even that is risky to do vs characters like Alex, Birdie or Cammy with armored or projectile invincible options.
Sounds good theoretically, but just like Sim if they have a V Reversal and block it you get V Reversaled and lose your pressure and stuck with your shitty c.MP, EX kunai bomb. It’s only good if they popped their Trigger or ran out of V Reversals. Sweeps are always sweep punishable from max range any way. I only really use sweep on an opponent’s wake up after a throw to catch them mashing on backdash or button and get free oki setup.

maybe Ibuki should be able to VT while airborne to have more options for getting it out safely
ok admittedly I just want to see her go on bombing runs with her kite, that would be dope

Yeah, v reversal sucks for that setup for ibuki, but otherwise you are just hitconfirming into it… and that may never come and it sucks to die with full v trigger, but that’s assuming of course that ibuki didn’t make any v juice during her match. If she makes some good juice and gets it around half life then it makes a lot of sense to look for the confirm.
Sims v trigger… idk. I don’t see sims using it as a low confirm. Almost all the time I see it being used it’s used as a high priority get off me move. Slide xx v trigger. If they v reversal it in that situation it isn’t great, but since sim just wanted pressure off him anyways, it can do that, either way… at least changing the situation.
Birdie definitely doesn’t destroy Rog. Probably 5-5
I’d say Gief VT is right up there among the best in the game…Dude becomes downright scary in VT mode
That’s because Birdie is more of a zoner with grapples than a gap closing grappler.
Just replying in response to “anyone with a command grab destroys Rog.”
The game didn’t really pan out the way it should have went, because lots of V-skills are ass or match up specific. Necalli seems to be one of the few characters that it all seems to work together. Saying that I’m still convinced his timer not running out was Dave over at Capcom fucking something up because on launch day he had a pub lunch and forgot to adjust the data. Best character in game til round ends…? Yeah WTF is that about.
Today I was updating my punisher data for Ryu and juris V skill is horrendous. -10 on block, see it coming a mile of. Like make it -4 or 5 at worst.
What do the different charge levels do? More damage?

I think at some point it hits front and then back, so it does more damage. The max charged one if I recall correctly.
It’s pretty bad but I still get hit by it because I suck :(. Mostly when they cancel a normal for it.
But to be honest it does no damage so who cares.
Fully charged, it does the opposite of normal right? Something like normal side switches and fully charged doesn’t (or the other way around).
Anyway, my guess is that they were doing a lot of experimenting in this game to figure out what people liked. Do people like really strong VT (Necalli/Chun) or not as strong ones (FANG, Laura). Do people like characters with good hitboxes/frame data (Urien) or not so good (Juri). Although, even if unintentional it gives them different things to look at. I personally think Birdie’s VT is pretty well designed. Can’t just randomly activate it since almost everything is negative on block, doesn’t freeze the screen to allow someone to react to normally hard to react to stuff, makes Birdie both scary AND makes up for a lot of his faults, and doesn’t dominate the round.

But why would anybody enjoy the fact that their character has poor hitboxes and frame data
Well what I mean is, do we want footsies dominated by disjointed hitboxes everywhere or footsies where everything is vulnerable at the tip. I didn’t mean let’s give one character disjointed hitboxes and another character shit hitboxes in Season 2.

Way faster start up and more damage. Non charged version is garbage, but charged version is one of the best V skills in the game really.
Way faster as in what though…she sits there for 4 seconds…then lets it go…then you dont even have to side switch to block both versions, the game does it for you.
Maybe I’m missing something here. I only tested it for about 5 minutes. I mean I could get a 150 ish punish if I blocked it, which to be honest seemed easy.

Yes, you’re missing probably that she can charge it then cancel, and she keeps the charge. So next time it’s instant.

14 frames startup. You’re doing it wrong though, you shouldn’t charge it in one go, you have to charge first and cancel, then the next time you do the v skill it goes straight as level 2. It’s not meant to be a move you just throw out there either so youre looking from the wrong perspective.

Ah… I see. How do you cancel it? Does it store regardless if you get hit etc

Backdash/forward dash during the charge animation, i don’t know if she keeps the charge if you get hit while doing it, but it doesn’t matter if she gets hit afterwards, she will still keep her charge.
