Street Fighter : Second Impact

Sean’s combo is unblockable if you land the jhp, and on high damage machines it will drain 75% of health, which is rediculous.

I think everyone over looks Elena as a playable character. She has crazy crossups, some ex juggles, and her supers aren’t bad either…it’s mainly her high and low attacks that makes it hard to play against her. Brave Dance lands with a simple crouching mk.

Yall didn’t even believe me:~(

Apoc.

everything lands with a simple cr.mk lol

But most characters can’t mix overheads and lows at the speed elena can. Where you expect crouching mk from most characters who need to start it with a dash in, it’s tough to predict what a good mixup elena will do next. Compare her overheads to necro, ryu, or even sean.

don’t lie :stuck_out_tongue:

2i is a game of pressure and speed, I’d like more than 3S if it wasn’t for Akuma. Ibuki is strong but not as stupid as Akuma, Demon Dive all day (and worst having an auto low parry most of the times you try to counter it).

I like some characters in 2i than 3S, Sean is a monster he’s more like the ChunLi of 2i it’s all about SA3 and taking your 50% HP away. Yun is fun to play too cause his crazy links work on standing characters too unlike 3S.

Oh 2i music rocks compared to 3S, character select screen, winning screens, it’s graphicly more attractive than 3S. :karate:

The voices are horrible

Does anyone else notice Alex sounds like a girl?

Akuma isn’t that bad, you know if akuma jumps towards you, he’s going to dive kick and it’s about timing and parrying. I’m not sure if you parry the dive kick you have priority to pull off an attack…seeing how the dive kick is so quick.

Akuma takes a retarded amount of more dmg (1.5x than other chars approx). But I can still see why he’s considered top tier.

What’s the fastest horizontal EX in this game? Alex’s Elbow Slash? (charge back, forward, 2x kick)

Uhh Fastest is Either EX Toruzan AKA Yang Mantis Slash or possibly…Ibuki’s QCB+KK like Knife Kick things…

Hugo

Hugo has three good combos: 4-5 jabs (into hammer frenzy) - or universal overhead into grab (or gigas) - or in the corner where he throws you into the wall then devestating strong claps for 6-10 hits pending if your timing is good.

just thought i’d spit that out for fun

Second Impact sucks

It’s all good, but I prefer 3S. It’s Akuma beasting either way for me =D.

Ibuki is MUCH better in 2I though. Hashin Sho > Yami Shigure.

As for music, NG > 3S > 2I.

haha :stuck_out_tongue: i have yet to see you come up with some constructive criticism  your knowledge for this game is terrible :stuck_out_tongue: this game does not suck compared to a lot of 2d fighting games out there and yeah, i like 3s more in a few ways but yeah, 2i has better things than 3s… like the music as mentioned heh

Wow, was playing around with 2nd Impact on my DC. How could Capcom mess up Ibuki and Sean so bad in 3rd Strike? Ibuki’s ability to link into her SAIII in 2I is so good. If Ken can have a super art with 3 short bars that do decent damage and is easy to combo into in 3s why can’t Ibuki have 2 bars for her SAIII in 3S? Makes me wonder how the designers can overlook such unbalance. :frowning:

Also took out her old crouching strong animation. That one could lead to chain into the low fierce. The low strong came out almost as fast as the low jab. I prefer Super Art 2 myself but ya Hashin Sho is way better than Yami Shigure.

I like Third Strike as well but I still enjoy Second Impact. Low Forward two inone into supers with Shotos are harder on Second Impact though. Alex’s EX Elbow Slash seems better on SI. Second Impact was good for it’s time and Third Strike is a good followup.

I always thought he sounded like Jacko…

You can’t escape!

There’s all kinds of interesting things in the game-

Urien can do some juggles that don’t work in 3rd.
corner- c.fierce(2hit),c.fierce(2hit),forward tackle, forward tackle, jab headbutt.

not sure if unblockables work in the arcade version, but if they do: c.fierce, tackle xx Jab Reflector, walk back, c.fierce(2hit), fierce headbutt, rh kneedrop.

His kneedrop doesn’t knock down grounded opponents though. His metallic spheres have long recovery. It appears that his regular tackles are reversible with supers even when they hit too. Besides all that, he’s still got aegis traps, s.fierce, s.strong and c.forward.

Alex’s EX Elbow Slash doesn’t knock down, so it’s not as good as the 3s version.

Ryu has two Denjin Hadoukens! c.short,c.short xx shoryuken xx Denjin, release, dizzy, jump in fierce, s.fierce xx dp xx Denjin, release dizzy, jump in fierce, s.fierce xx hurricane kick and ko

Yun’s Genei is really exactly like the 3s version , but in 2nd impact you can follow it up with only 2 juggles (which is a lot more balanced i’d say). And also Yun doesn’t have his t+fierce move, which is good to start genei, do followups and as a random poke.

Ken is almost exactly like in 3rd Strike too. Really only double dp combos against grounded opponents are missing, that’s it.
I’m not sure about the c.forward reactionary cancel but it appears to be true.

Yang has two Raishin mahhakens, and it’s got lesser startup then in 3s, but isn’t safe when blocked.

Oro hasn’t got EX Tengu Stones, and the regular ones won’t juggle a lot. Also no double jump. In NG his Tengu lasts for 14,15 seconds btw.

The Hugo Infinite is hcb+K against cornered opponent, walk up, reapeat. The grab regrounds. I heard that you can also do a strong clap in between. His Backbreaker hasn’t got as much range and doesn’t go as far as the 3s version.

Necro’s c.forward has lesser range.

I’d say the tiers are something like

(Update)

Akuma
Ibuki
Sean
Yang
Ryu
Yun
Ken
Dudley

Oro
Elena
Alex
Necro

Urien
Hugo

Generally after you’ve done an attack in the air you can’t parry.
there are no red parries too, which I like.

Not sure if Ken is the same as he is in 3rd Strike. He’s seems slower in 2I to me. Harder to land the low forward two in one Super Art 3. Fireball cameout slower but then again in SI Ryu/Ken didn’t rely on fireballs that much. Ken’s new kicks come into play on 3S. He can still link the Axe kick (toward and forward kick) both hits and you cancel that into Super Art 3 just like on 3S. Air EX Hurricane Kick still super fast and catch airborne opponents. And there is a sort of red cancel in 2I. Block Yang’s Rekka Ken the first hit and you can parry the last two hits

Necro
Oro
Elena
Alex

Necro is much different. Here are some points:

  • db + fp = elbow = 3s;
    df + fp = elbow = 2i

  • b + fp = rising uppercut = 3s
    db + fp = rising upper = 2i

  • standing mp (no b) is cancellable unlike in 3s which is super-cancellable.

example:

b+lk -> stand mp -> mp tornado hook xx ES = in ur face.

  • his dive-kicks do infinite hits.

**mid-screen control = dive-kick all day.

*********absolutely no recovery when he lands.

  • his standing fp and fk are fast as fuck, as well as fast recovery. could probably use it as safe pokes.

  • f + p throw still has the same properties

example:

cornered opponent is thrown with the p version of it. you can follow up with another hit such as standing mp.

  • df + fp on a crouching blocked opponent pushes you away about 90% of the screen.

**super-safe when blocked.

therefore:

necro is more of a monster in here than 3s. although, the change of direction for his fp directions on the joy sticks to perform his elbow and his rising upper may frustrate some people.
